WOW! That's something coming from a guy as wise as you! Ok. While I'll admit that last line about the goalie and 3 D is kind of funny, I'll go out on a limb once again and predict* that Breck will: Start the Season #1 or #2 and will stay there throughout the regular season. Will win 21 or mo...

4 parts: Part 1 is talent, but that in itself will only get you so far. Part 2 is unselfishness. Part 3 is a willingness to be "coachable". Part 4 is good coaching. Agreed 100% with this. You can have a lot of talented kids, but if they don't play well as a "team" (as in passing...

That is correct. It was Wally's team under Wally's early coaching that took Larsen to state. It didn't really matter who was the coach of that team the last 2 years, they were going to play at a high level. This year they have talent, but not enough that it didn't matter who was coach. It made the d...

Breck has been nothing short of dominant all year. True they have played all of their games so far at home and the competition has been uninspiring, but none the less, they have been very effective. After the next three games it should be very clear as to where they stand not only in class A, but a...

Sorry, I meant to say the high school league said goalies were under the same stipulation of no "more" than 4 periods. The injury or illness is an exception, but I didn't think the original questioner was relating it to injury or illness, but more of a fairness issue.

called the high school league last year regarding this matter and they said goalies were not allowed to play four periods, that the rule applied to goalies the same as players.

[quoteSo, here is my prediction. Whoever you see the most in the Trib and Press, thats whos gonna get it. Did you see Anders Lee featured like 5 times for football, and more than that for hockey? The Trib really likes that kid. Im just going to re-iterate. He who gets the most press come voting, get...

I know Blake is down this year, but I think some kudos should go to Craig Norwich at SPA. They beat Chisago, tied a Shattuck team and have been doing fairly well this year. SPA has never really been seen as recruiting kids, so I would think this might be showing some signs of a program that is devel...

For all the hype Matt Cooper has been getting, I expected to see something quite different than he showed. He frankly looked slow and bored. What was the deal here? Does he always look this weary or was this an exception?

Midwest Hockey Scout, Everything you said makes a lot of sense and seems very thorough. It seems to me however, that once goalies reach varsity level as a senior, most are pretty capable technically, and the thing that distinguishes them most is their mental game (and maybe their size). What kind of...

Mahtomedhi didn't have a wealth of individual talent, and they had a very short roster with a lot of kids playing both jv and varsity, but they were coached well. Of course, Ben Marshall was great and seems to give the team a lot of confidence, but the goalie was very impressive also. The rest of th...

Not too well this year. North lost to East in the consolation round. Not sure of the score, but there was a differential of 3 or 4 goals.
