Summer goalie camps/clinics

Any opinions on summer camps clinics for squirt/peewee level?

I will add my two words "over priced" for Staubars goalgrease My kids have gone to Steve Carroll's camp and just love it. The teacher to student ratio is awesome, and he has locations and times that fit most busy schedules. He also does private lessons at a very fair price. I suggest you contact him. I've been going to Stauber's Goalcrease ever since it opened, and ill tell you one thing, it's well worth the money! I have learned so much from Rob and his associates and they do a tremendous job. If you need new equipment, they help you find the right size, and its better then going to a Hockey Giant, and getting false info from a high school hockey player who knows nothing about goaltending.(no affense to Hockey Giant) Also, Rob has a tremendous facility that has video rooms after your on-ice session. There is also a work-out room and "Demo" gear for you to try out and see if you like it.(includes leg pads, gloves, blockers, breezers, chest protectors, and skates) Website-www.Goalcrease.com

They also have "visual" and "mental" training now, i don't know much about it though...Stauber is very pricy but well worth it.

thanks for the info, we have used stauber a few times and TCG a few more times, we used carroll at first, was thinking about guider. Our association has contract with goal crease so we use that weekly during the regular season. Anyone used goalie club?

Stauber is the best in my opinion. They are somewhat expensive, but they are the best. The work on both the physical and mental aspects of the position. They have positive coaches, and they don't teach any one style of goaltending. I would highly recomend them. I wouldn't even consider the Steve Guider clinics. I know Steve from High School AND HE NEVER PLAYED HOCKEY! DID YOU HERE THIS HE NEVER PLAYED HOCKEY, let alone play goalie. Steve was a football player for Blaine High School, not a hockey player. So if you want your son/daughter to be taught by a x football player then go for it. Regarding Steve Carrol's schools, I feel he is a experienced goalie coach, but I don't agree with how he teaches the position ( my opinion only). I am sure there are alot of students out there that do like him. You might want to check out the Goalie club, I think Coach Des does an outstanding job as well. www.goalcrease.com and www.thegoalieclub.com

i cant say enough about stauber i go as much as i can and love it they also have dry land and camps in the summer that are not at there building i think thay have everthing for a goalie and when ever i need something i go there also there staff very nice, funny and most important have a great goalie background i allways have a great time there

Sefan Popa is also a very good camp. He spends 90% of the time on the mental side of what a goalie needs to learn. Positioning, angles, when to go down and when not......

I agree that Stauber runs a good camp. I also believe, since I called them last week, that their advanced and intermediate summer camps are full. Has anyone ever been to Rick Heinz? Any thoughts to share?

Last summer my parents sent my brother to TGC's prodigy camp in Bloomington. Since we knew the camp director I was allowed to go along and shoot because they were in need of shooters. It was a weeklong camp with 2-3 hours of on ice practice each day, dryland/strength training (put together by the athletic trainer at MSU) geared totally to the strengthening of muscles that are vital to a goaltender, as well as a class on the nutrition of a athlete. Overall I thought it was an amazing camp. I'm not sure if they're running it again this summer.

Rick Heinz is not a good camp. I went there when I was younger and didn't get much out of it. They don't work you hard at all. I can't say this for sure however, for I haven't been there for a couple years and I am not aware of some of the changes they could have made since then.

I agree with hock dude16..we were extremely dissappointed with the Heinze goalie school experience.first of all we never saw Heinz and shooters/instructors were local bantam/jv kids who had trouble hitting the net...lots of standing around..

Thanks for the info on Heinz. My son has been to Mitch Korn's camp. I thought that was a well run camp. Mitch is on the ice the entire time.

TGC is running one of those prodigy camps again this year August 7-11 at bloomington-high school aged goalies only. 695.00 2:1 ratio.

We have been to Rick St. Croix at the Superrink and he does good job with the younger kids... 1st year peewees and under. However, last year we went to Goalies Only with Scott Christison (KoKo) and his crew out at Andover and that camp was awesome! Condensed to 4 days TH-Sun, they get the goalies to their next level and it is a grind but the interaction with each goalie is super. They really got to know each student to see what they could get out of them. All coaches are in full gear and with goalie skates on. They instruct the proper techniques like all the good camps do but it's better to see it done than to be told what to do. My son went from PW B-2 (1st year) to PW-A after the camp with KoKo. With a ton more focus. Check them out at www.goaliesonly.net They do camp in August and one in July

I don't have any kids, I just think Stauber is the best. I like that they work one-on-one and I think the instructors are good. You can learn a lot from them. Stauber's Goalcrease is putting on an Annual Goalie Show today from 11:00 to like 3 or 4. Many hockey reps will be there such as, RBK, Vaughn (my fav.), Bauer, TPS, Brown, Sher Wood and many more. You will be able to try out your stuff on their training creases. Should be a great time!!!
