How 'bout them elks. Whoever doubted us shame on you. It was a great relief when that final buzzer rang and we took the ice. I've never had a more satisfying feeling in my life. It's such an honor to be going to the tourny. I can't wait to play centennial. Bring 'em!

Why is everyone so cocky? Geez. The Elk River Moorhead game will be a good one. I love that everyone is expecting Moorhead to stomp the Elks into the ground. The Elk River Moorhead games are classic. It's like a Hill Murray White Bear game. No matter how good the teams are-every game will be close (with the exception of one game in 2001 between Moorhead & Elk River-but even earlier that year they played to an OT game). Moorhead and Elk River are gonna beat the shiznit out of eachother. It's gonna be more than just a hockey game. More like hockey gladiators. It'll be awesome. But...what if Tech wins tomorrow?

rjs, Where do you get one year wonders?? Weren't they section finalists last year? They have a tremendous youth program that continually stomps the Elks and the sophomore class is loaded. Not to mention some very good juniors. Elk River has a nice program but we never know what the Elks will be like until all the open enrollment papers are filed each year.

so the elks have an average year, but now they have come out of 4AA so they are good again? Please, 4AA is a mediocre section, who did they beat to get to state again?- Park Center 3-2? Anoka? Maple Grove? THese all average to below average AA teams. All you elk river fans had to be quiet for the 2nd half of the year cause your team was doing poorly, but now cause you win 3 games against average teams you act like the elks are a different team. They dont stand a chance in state. But because of how poor that section is they get to go. Keep talking, lets see how they fare against Moorhead and then the rest of us will wonder where all the elk river fans dissapeared to again.

Alright, I know many people have brought this point up before, but I am going to have to bring it up again. hshockeyfan, can you tell me who won the last 4 state championships. If you answer this question correctly you will notice that 3 of the last 4 state champions have come out of section 4AA. How can you possibly call it weak with these numbers. I'm not going to say its the best section but obviously its quite a bit stronger than you think. You also said that all the ER fans were quiet for the 2nd half of the season. Excuse me, verb is deffinately not quiet along with a few other people. There weren't a whole lot of ER fans on here talking them up to begin with so how can you say that they had to be quiet? Thats all I have. Go Elks!!!

Slapshooter-what was in December of last year? The holiday tournaments? I don't remember you telling me anything... jr-open enrollment is awesome. Kids love Elk River. Me too. (But only because of the hockey program. The town itself is pretty bad...) hshockeyfan-you're pretty off in your post about a lot of stuff. We had a good year. Better than average...but we sure weren't a powerhouse or anything. We struggled against Edina and Eden Prairie...and it took a couple games for us to get used to not having Prosser on the roster mid-season, but the Elks really have found a groove. They don't crush the competition every game, but they keep them in check just fine. The only Elk River fans that are quiet is the students. They are simply awful. They get worse every year. With this new Britney Spears generation coming up, every team's fans are pretty bad though. Does anyone else notice how all kids do is chat and talk on their cell phones during games? And 75% of the fans for every school are girls who are just puck slut, jersey chasers. It's terrible. But nonetheless, I, as an Elk River fan, will never be quiet. I can prove it. I actually bought a megaphone at Radio Shack that can make my voice travel for over a half a mile. It's awesome. We drive around Minneapolis and talk to people on the streets with it. So if you hear someone coming through your town with a voice louder than everyone else's, that's probably me. And I, never forget, win or lose-am an Elk River hockey fan. You keep praying for our downfall, hshockeyfan. Go ahead. Count us out 5 days before the affair. I dare ya.

Blueliner are you honestly going to say Paul Martin is "possibly" the best player to ever come out of the state. How can you say this. I am not here to bash Paul Martin because he is good, extremely good, but this GREAT HOCKEY STATE has produced many more premier players than Paul Martin. And don't talk about your team and the one great player that didn't transfer. Just talk about this year's team.

yes i said one year wonders. elk river has been to the section finals numerous years, and 5 state tournaments. until your cougars do that, you have nothing to stand on. and your awesome youth program that stomps the elks is the team that they have this year, its not like there a powerhouse in the youth program. and since open enrollment isnt illegal, i dont really care what you have to say about that. we cant help it that kids and there parents want to play for a state berth year in and year out. match elk rivers numbers over the last 12 years, then post how dominant your cougars program is. like i said before, enjoy it while it lasts, cause it wont happen too often. go stars.

Paul Martin is one of the best to ever come out of Minnesota. He hasn't been in the NHL for even a year and he's already a solid player. ER vs Moorhead will be a great game as they have always been in the past. I grew up watching Moorhead vs ER for 8AA Championships and this game will be just as good as the others. RJ about your previous post ("...were not the one year wonders like the mighty cougars...") centennial may caugt a lot of people's attention this year but this team has been coming the past couple years. The past couple years, last year specifically, they had solid teams (last year making it to the finals of the section playoffs). If you look at the their youth program, they probably have the best all around youth program in the state. This team will be the dominant team in the next 10 years... no one year wonders. Their last year A Bantams team was amazingly good... so watch this team in the next couple of years... you will see their name on the state rankings for years to come... so know your hockey before you say PLEASE BAN ME remarks like that RJ!

as a elk fan and former elk player i say go ER all the way.But as a guy in my 40s who has seen Thousands of HS hockey games ,section 4AA is the weakest i have seen it in many years.The only way ER beats the Spuds is if the whole Moorhead team has the flu.there are 3 teams in the Show ER cant compete with Spuds, Wayzata and of course Centennial.The only question about Centennial in the next few years is " can they keep all the talent happy and keep them from transferring somewhere else.Go ahead and shine your hockey expertise on me verb,you were such a standout player for.....?

sorry there anokafan, but if you look at the standings, er isnt in any of the bantam or peewee rankings, but yet they seem to find there way into the top 1-10 in high school every year, amazing isnt it. sorry regg berg or pat dame or andy berinkott arent around. you still want to question my hockey knowledge. and since we are arch rivals, i just think your pissed that other than last year, we have mopped up your pretty little tornadoes like a sand storm. like i said, look at the last 12 years and tell me whose record is better. and as far as you hillkid88, let moorhead win a championship, then post something. until then.
