I think Tartan is an above average team but..... i don't know if they belong in the state tounrey? yes i know they won there section but come on that section was god awful. if they were in section 3aa they would have gotten hte 5 or 6 seed instead they got the 1st seed. i wish them the best of luck but they dont belong there and it will be shown at the tourney

Tartan's goalie is a freshman and he did a decent job this year. They have a nice 1st line but the skill level drops off after that. They are your typical children of former eastside parents...hard working kids. It is true that if they were in 3AA, where they had been in previous years, we would not be talking about them right now. But they have had a decent year, earned the #1 seed in their section, and won 3 games to get to play downtown. I'm disappointed that the team I follow the most (Hill) is not going to the Tourney but that shouldn't affect how I feel about Tartan going. I say congrats to Hill for the season they had and how they handled themselves in the play-offs & I say congrats to Tartan for their accomplishment & wish them the best of luck this week. I hope the experience exceeds all their dreams and hope everyone involved in the Tourney create memories to last a lifetime.

I've seen Johnson play, but not Tartan. The Johnson team I saw could have played well against the Wayzata team I saw beat Minnetonka. Therefore since Tartan right now is hot and was able to smoke Johnson, I give them decent odds to beat Wayzata.

I just spent some time studying schedules, and while Wayzata looks impressive on paper, they weren't the greatest in person. I believe if Tartan plays all out the way they did against Johnson, they will have a chance to turn some heads.

Tartan

I have seen them play twice, vs HM (4-2 loss)and Cretin(4-3 OT win in sections). I liked what I saw both times. They are a nice team. They are not a championship team but they will do just fine.

They come out of a section that was down a little for the first time in a number of years. But 2AA has contributed a lot of quality to the tourney over the last 5 years or so and Tartan has nothing to be ashamed of and should be proud to be there.
To say that they dont belong is just not right.

They dont just have one good line the second line is good too and the third line will put points up on the board fairly often.

opinions on tartan

no chance... no chance.. they're going to go 2 and out losing by atleast 5 goals both games... 2AA please .. thats all ... but good luck........ first line is good tho ...12 and 14 are the work horses and 18 floats till he gets the puck but he does hes gonna score.. they got good goaltending even with their back up in ... but still they were put in the wrong bracket if they wanted to win ... and besides give em any other AA section in the state and see if they're in there .. but congrats i guess

your right about 1 mayybe lakeville would be tough and maybe even 7 duluth not so strong but i wouldn't place my bet on tartan and 4AA elk river .. honestly elk river maple grove and even anoka would beat em

Maybe, but I think they would have a shot in any of those sections.

I think most people would agree that East and ER , both great programs and former champions, are down a little this year. A lot of people in the "pick the section winners" threads didnt pick ER to win their section this year.

For the kids' sake, sure hope they have a good showing but I don't look for much from Tartan (maybe low expectations will help them).

Seem to be too young and lack the depth, but what the heck, SLP beat SLP.

tartan

has below average d and goalie, but do have some talent up front. its only chance is for d and goalie to play light years over their heads...
