AHA vs. Cenn. = Boring!

Post by juniorhockey »

A saw two GREAT teams play a boring game at the Excel today. To bad. Tons of talent, by both teams. Yet neither team brought the third forward below the tops of the circle untill the third period.

I actually cheered for AHA for the first time in a while because they are such a fun team to watch breakout, regroup, and take the puck up ice. But to watch them do all that, then dump it in simply stinks. It's not High School, it's NHL Hockey.

Im sure many of you will disagree. You'll say it was genious Defense and brilliant coaching. I hope not many other coaches were taking notes so we won't see seven games like this every year.

Sorry if this topic was posted elsewhere.

Boring! That was the first thing out of my sons mouth when he got home from the games last night. I also commented during the game that it WAS like watching an NHL game, not high school. Incredible talent on both sides but no real flow. Way to many whistles! Great match-up though. Two best teams in the tournament I think. I can't seem to get too excited about any of the other teams so far. Not sure why.

I completely agree with the boring comments above, but disagree about the other teams being exciting. It seemed Wayzata played fairly wide open the first half of the game vs. Tartan. Also the Moorhead/Elk River game was phenomenal. I think the Centennial/Wayzata game and eventual Centennial/Moorhead games will be very entertaining.

For your entertainment?

Aren't the teams trying to win the game and not give up scoring chances, odd man rushes, etc? I'm sure after reading this they will change their goals from winning to entertainment.

Centennial looked a little nervous and were playing conservatively. Who can blame them, they want to make the most of their opportunity. Holy Angels played a strong defensive game too.

boring

I was thinking the same thing and heard the same thing from a few around me. I can't put my finger on it...maybe you are right, maybe the style of play and whistles is what did it. The atmosphere just didn't seem the same, either. Yeah, I know it was full, but just didn't give me the same excitement. Something is lacking this tournament...don't know what. The second game was not alot better. The most entertaining game of the night was Moorhead vs Elk River, but no bands! Music videos between periods?? Like someone else mentioned on another post, why not clips from previous years tournaments or clips on schools participating?

I agree totally. That was one of those most boirng games I've been to in a while. But, I'd rather watch any high school over the boring Wild. Oh well, better than school.

Apparently none of you are playing for a state championship.

Apparently we're not. I'm just saying it wasn't the most exciting game. Not many shots or scoring chances. I mean, the shots were 4-3 after 1 in favor of Centennial.
