Sauk vs. P-Town
The game turned out to go Sauk's way in a 5-2 victory. The storm got help from their second and third lines tonight and really outplayed Princeton. The refs did a horrible job officiating and almost let the game get out of hand. Culver wasn't on his game tonight. Scoring for the storm was Jeremy Streit with 3 goals, Peckskamp with 1 and 1 assist, and Andy Supan. Scoring for Princeton was Jaime Dufner and Charlie Ross. Ross looked like the best player for the tigers overall tonite. Peckskamp was quiet, but opened up the ice for his teammates. For goalies, Freshman Justin Lochner picked up the win with 29 saves and Jared Culver the loss with 17 saves. Lochner looked pretty comfortable in net tonite for a frosh. Princeton could've pulled goalie for a 6 on 3 with 2 miinutes left but decided not to, I don't know why.

Anyone else at the game, what were your thoughts about a key section game

Re: Best team
Well the Storm deserved the Win. They got the breaks tonight and survied some questionable officals. Final shots of the game were 31-17 in favor of the Tigers. Just couldnt get the puck in the net but it just goes to show thaty besides DM no team is really that far above any other team. I think 2-11 are all very even.

As far as rankings.....
1. DM

But after that can you really put either Mora or SCC ahead of Princeton just go to head to head Princeton beat both. Here is how I see it playign out.

2. SCC
3. Princeton
4. Mora
5. Sauk Rapids
6. Denfeld
7. Central
8. Sartell
9. Pine City
10. Proctor
11. Moose Lake

I think thats the most accurate as of Now the Storm can still move up they are really putting it together the Tigers well they still have 2 section games left the Mora game WILL BE HUGE!!! But I think as of now those are the most accurate. But listen to this ok so Princeton beats Mora again does that justify that Sauk desverse the #4 seed because they beat Princeton and Mora didn't it gets kinda messy. But right now I think that is pretty accurate tell me what you think.

Playoffs will be fun cause i think there will be lots of upsets in the making!!!!!!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... 33Three at: 1/25/04 1:10 pm

re:
Those are very accurate, but here are my picks, a few small shake-ups.

1.) Duluth Marshal-Is there really any doubt? They are beatable but nobody has beaten them, if that makes any sense. Just solid at number 1.

2.)SCC-These guys have been playing well, it looks as if they are getting their kinks worked out and they are realizing that they don't just have to show up to win games any more. Huge blowout wins over Marshall and Sartell this week means they are at 2.

3.)Princeton-A loss to Sauk Rapids dropped them one, but it was one game, they are still really good.

4.)Mora-Well, these guys are coming on strong. After the loss to SCC they have really been playing well. Lack of depth may hurt them.

*5.)Denfeld-They can beat anyone.

6.)Sauk Rapids-Have some firepower in Peckskamp and just beat Princeton. Dont really see much depth. Tougher schedule than some teams but the CLC is not an incredible conference other than Alex and Tech. Sheldon just likes to use the, "We play a very tough schedule" card.

7.)Central-Extreme inconsistancy and but have some players and have the ability to make a mess in the playoffs.

8.)Sartell-Eaten up by SCC and just struggling over all, but Bryant, Bruss, and Lanctin are good players. Two good D (Zierden and Binsfield) but they just fall after that.

9.)Moose Lake-They Suprise me.

10.) Pine City- Good first line. Real good

11.)Proctor-Tanner Conlon can only do so much.

playoffs are just around the corner, they'll be fun.

ranking change
I dont see how you can put cathedral ahead of princeton in the rankings. I watched Princeton play cathedral and the Tigers dominated the entire game. Just because cathedral beat some weak teams like sartell or marshall doesnt make them better than princeton. If it comes down to princeton and cathedral in the playoffs again, Id put my money on princeton

princeton
im glad that you think that way... the first game wasnt played well by either team. what it comes down to is if both teams bring there "A" game, im seeing cathedral win because they have a better goalie and better defense than princeton. other than brown who is a nice player, they have nothing at D. each teams offense is similar in that they both play 3 solid lines. offense sells tickets... defense wins championships.

Re: princeton
Rindalueb (spell.?) is a good goalie, But so is culver. How can you say Rindalueb is better then him. When it counted last year, Culver came out on top if you remember. Both goalies played oustandingly, stopping upwards into the 40's if i remember correctly. I'm not saying he is better, but how can you say he is worse. In culver's 3 meetings with SCC, he is 3-0. Think about that for awhile...

Also, Your D Core isnt to much better, if they are better at all. Crandell is Good yes, Schleper is just BIg, but he is also slow, REALLY SLOW. MAch is decent, but no better then Ryan Cross. Vince Miller is really coming on and will only get better with expierence, and Steve Sanio is back from injury, so that will add some more depth. So apples to Apples, all you have on Princeton's D-Core is Expierence.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....
Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... gers>ptown tigers at: 1/25/04 11:48 pm

Overlooking Mora
I think everyone is overlooking Mora, they have the chance to explode offensively. Come playoff time I would not be surprised to see them at state. Horbacs #10 is very good handles the puck well, follows through with all the plays. Grabowski, Corbett, Raivo, Kirschner, Horbacs #3 are also good. Bliss looks pretty good in net also. If they play as well as they are now, I dont see anyone stopping them.

Ptown vs. SCC
I put SCC ahead of Princeton because SCC has been on fire lately. What many of you fail to realize is that SCC is a completely different team now than they were vs. PTwon the first time. They are really clicking. Iam not saying that Princeton is playing bad just that SCC is playing better. Also, why would you even ask that question about how could you put SCC ahead of Ptown. Even Derrick Brown, DB33Three did.

Mora
I dont think anyone is overlooking, most people are ranking them 4th. Its hard to rank them above Princeton and SCC, seeing as how mora lost to both of them. Mora may be a different team now. They have a good goalie, Bliss(I think he may be better the Hjellie) And their top line can put the puck away well. No one is overlooking Mora.

Princeton v. Sauk Rapids
All this talk of strength of teams, and Princeton goes an gives Sauk Rapids it's second win of the year.... Perhaps that's the danger of starting strong and living on the edge??? How many of those wins of Princeton's were by one-goal? AND how many of those losses for SR were by one-goal?? I think that we really need to see how teams are playing here in the final stretch....

By losing to Sauk Rapids, I think it shows that the Tigers might have had exceptional nights against SCC and Rochester Lourdes.... Perhaps they will need to take a deep look within themselves and see if they're ready for playoffs... I sorta think that they've dropped out of the top five with that loss...

Of course, just one opinion of many on the board... I think that we'll have a good playoff series in 2A..... Good luck to all!

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Re: Mora
This is my first time on. I have been following 2A for the last 6 years. Just a few thoughts about this section from an oldtimer. This year is going to be interesting come playoffs. Marshall is the team to beat, even though anything can happen. I dont know much about Mora, havent seen them play yet, only what has been said about them. Princeton is a good team, saw the game against Sauk Rapids. Looked like the goalie had an off night. Why was Ross moved to forward, is one of the better d in the section? SCC is slow but they have been coming around as of late. Sauk Rapids is young but a scrappy bunch. They tied Brainerd who is one of the top teams in their conference, maybe things are changing for them since they beat Princeton? Sartell, lost key players to transfers otherwise they might have been in the running this year. As for the rest of the teams in the section, I have to see them play before I can write about them. Like I said before anything can happen come playoffs.

ptown & scc
I agree with 2AhockeyOldTimer i think cathedral is really starting to play up to their expectations, and i would like to see scc and ptown play eachother now, i think it would be a totally different game, im not saying scc would win, but they have been playing really well. Princeton too can be a very good team if they play their "A" game. If they play again i know it will be a fun game to watch and i wouldnt miss it for nothing

I really dont know who i would pick to go to state,DM is a good team, but definatly beatable

Out of the top 5
Now I am thinking that may be alittle harsh Princeton seemed to have an off night that is not an excuse in anyway but what teams are ahead of them as of RIGHT NOW? Cuase I mean you could say DM and SCC but Princeton just beat Mora last week? so that puts them at 3 at the worst who would the other two teams be. Now don't get me wrong Mora may be better there is a rematch next week I beleive but who is the other two teams that are better than Princeton that would put them at #6. I am just curious if you don't mind saying?
1.DM
2. SCC
3.Mora
4.??
5.??
6.Princeton

Everyone has A CHANCE!!!!
LOL wow one loss and you drop to #5 seems very harsh. And then the comment they only win one goal games umm well what do you think you have to win in playoffs there arnt going to be any blowouts. I just think people need to realize this section is very even I mean I can see SCC beating a Princeton but no more then I can see Princeton beating them. We all must admit all these teams are even I think this is top to bottom one of the more quality sections this year. There will be no easy games I could see DM going one and done just as I could see a Central or Denfeld going to State. Un like last year there are no clear cut favorites playoffs will be fun I wouldn't count us out or any OTHER SECTION TEAM!!! (should be lots of fun). And as for the Ross question umm coaches decided we needed to add more fire power up front and I think as he goes on to Juniors he will be a forward. Lots of talent in this section I respect every team Unliek some i would look past no one.

everyone has a chance
i <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> agree with DB33three, this section is very even, a lot of these teams will surprise you, I believe denfeld plays scc this weekend so that should be an important game for both teams. I dont know who i would put as far as standings 1-4, each team has their own strengths as well as weakness.

Playoffs will definatly be exciting<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
