Central v SCC
I have to hand it to the Crusaders as they kept their cool in this game. It could have been a lot worse if they had retaliated on some of the stuff the DC guys were pulling. The shots weren't 60-10 as reported, but I would say they were at least 3 to 1, perhaps a little more. Maybe something like 54 to 18 or something... I think that DC is frustrated with how their season is going, and they're playing like that. Not a bad team, just a bit undisciplined....

Well, it's getting down to seeding time.... Let's hear 'em....

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Re: Shattuck vs. DM
I am really looking forward to the Shattuck vs. DM game. Shattuck will likely win. Benilde only loss 3-5, and DM beat Benilde 5-1. If DM brings their best game they could to pretty well against them. What does everyone think the score will be?

Re: Shattuck vs. DM
Anyone else still waiting to find out the PC vs. Mora score?

As for the 7-5 loss to Chisago I wasnt in attendence, but did talk to someone very close to the team directly after. He said the Refs were the worst he had ever seen at a high school game, but he also said the loss can't be blamed on that. The shots were like 49, to 25 in favor of princeton. They just couldnt put the puck away. And Chisago scored on a Penelty shot, and an open netter. Also two of Princeton's "big three" had 4 penelty's. Those two being Schneider and Ross. This is just "hear say", but what i was told is the Refing was horrible. Was anyone in attendence that can verify this? .

Princeton is just in a funk, and they aren't getting the bounces. Every team hits a streak like that, and its just a bad time for it to happen.

As for seedins

1)DM
2)SCC
3)Mora (pending Mora Pine score, and their game with Chisago later in season, Third seed is their's to lose)
4)Princeton
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Mora 7 PC 3
This game was actually a pretty close game until the last few minutes. I believe the score was 4-3 with about 5 minutes to go, but PC gave up a powerplay goal and a shorty and just fell apart in the remaining minutes. The game started out by Mora coming out dominating the first period really but only could get out of it 2-1. The second period i thought was all PC in which they had 14 shots but only one goal as Bliss played amazing in nets. The third period was won again by PC, controlling the puck in Mora's zone most of the third but Mora still mananged to score 4 goals on only 7 shots. However i went to this game to see some of these tops players and here's how i think they faired.
Corbett- Had a hat trick on the night, didn't really seem to backcheck or play a whole lot of defense but when he was in the open ice he made things happen.
Mark Horbacz- Had a huge blast from the point to put Mora up 5-3. Thought he played a real solid game considering they only had three defenseman.
Nate Horbacz- One of the hardest working players i have seen this year. Scored a nice goal .
Grabowski- Played well on defense, kind of got shut down when he tried rushing the puck up.
Gross- Scored a nice goal in the second i believe it was. Really created lots of opportunities for PC but could never seem to put the puck away. Probably the fastest guy on the ice.
Brant- Played a real nice game, set up alot of scoring chances for his team, but his teammates were unable to bury the puck. He walked the Mora defense a few times and had some tremendous skills at handling the puck.
Sameueson(sp)- Looked real good in the first, could've easily ban 5 or 6 to one if he hadn't kept them in it. but allowed 5 goals on 15 shots in the next two periods

With the win i believe all Mora needs is a win against Chisago and they will clinch the rum river conference title.

Shattuck vs. DM
When is the Shattuck vs. DM game?
but i think that Shattuck is a very strong and talented team so i believe that Shattuck will beat DM by at least 2 goals. What does everybody else think?

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Re: Shattuck vs. DM
It is on Fri, Feb 20 at Shattuck at 7:00. Not likely but it would be great if DM pulled off the win.

what does everyone think of the PC v. Princeton game Tommarow. The way Princeton has been playing, and with the way the dragon's have been playing the Tigers may be in for a rough night tommarow night, espiecally at PC. If the tigers lose, they are in a world of hurt come seeding time.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

PLAYOFF TIME
Well its down to the last two weeks of the season and its starting to get exciting. What do you see as key games coming up in the next two weeks and when are section meetings? As of right now the top four teams are:

1. DM
2. SCC
3. Mora
4. Princeton

If they started playing right now the finals of the section would be DM v. SCC. BUT as you know anything can and will happen to change this.

Agree with Oldblueliner
Hey oldblueliner, I have to agree with your first four.. but we haven't heard much from the Ptown group.. I'm curious as to what the collective thinks about the seedings...

1) DM
2) SCC
3) Mora
4) Princeton (maybe.... who else could be 4th??)

I'm really not sure if Mora should be in 3 or not, but I think that they're probably playing better hockey right now than any of the rest below...

I'd love to see what some of the "experts" think of the seedings all the way down the list...

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

i wouldn't be too suprised if SR snuck in there somewhere in the top 4. I dont like SR, but it could actually happen.

I see that Sauk Rapids took it to Apollo last night. That may help their cause is trying to get a better seed for sections.

1) DM
2) SCC
3) Mora
4) Sauk Rapids
5) Princeton
6) ??

What do you all think?? I don't know that Princeton's win over Pine City is of much help, unless PC can beat SCC or someone tough...

Would love to be a mouse in the corner next week when the seeding's meeting takes place.

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

DM losses to Hayward?????
Can someone confirm this score of 2-1 Hayward, WI over DM??? There is something seriously wrong if DM losses to a WI school other than Superior. Or it may be that Hayward is actually pretty decent, I don't know. Other games last night, Sauk Rapids....the time I believe is a huge sleeper is staying remotely hot with a nice win over Apollo. Mora easily handled Becker/Big Lake and Denfeld took it to Moose Lake. Central got beaten by a tough Virginia team and Princeton ended their skid by beating PC by 2 goals. Sartell was in the mix as well last night but fell to River Lakes. Proctor has a suprising win over Eveleth-Gilbert who just knocked off Virginia last week. Odd scores coming in from last night....I cannot wait for playoff time, its going to be a dandy.

Princeton
I dont think princeton will drop any lower then 4. They did lose to Sauk. But they split with Mora and Beat SCC. Also 3 of their other loses were against top 20 teams, and they tied another top 20 team. To bad the Mora Chisago game is after the seeding meeting, that could have an impact on the common opponents aspect of the seeding meetings, espiecally because Chisago is in the RRC.

Also I dont believe sauk has a chance at top 4. They are 5-13. And besides Princeton who have they beat? Sartell twice(6-13), River Lakes(9-9, weak schedule) and Now Apollo(3-1<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)"> . I know 5 of their losses come from Tech(2), Alex, Breck and DM. But they have also have some losses to sub par teams. Little Falls, FF(not up to usual form), Wilmer, Owatonna. I just dont think it will happen.
I am not saying they are not good, and they will probably upset someone in playoffs, but based on their year this year They dont deserve the 4 seed, its that simple.

Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Re: Princeton
I agree with ptown, Sauk should not be in the top 4 maybe a 6 seed. They are playing well now but as you stated they have not beaten very many quality teams, heck they havent beaten very many teams at all. They have Alex on thursday and that might shed some light on how they might be seeded. If they win a top 4 or 5, If they lose no better than a 6 seed. Alex is one of the better AA teams in the state. Still the road to the EXCEL will be through DM and SCC, you will have to beat one or both of these two teams to get there. Playoff time is a great time of the year and its just getting started.

D. Marshall beatable
i've seen this team play a couple times and they are weak on faceoffs and some of their forwards give up on the boards. a good coach can take advantage of this in the playofs. look for the trojans or hunters to knock them off.

Any good games on Thursday? I know that DM is playing Two Harbors.

Princeton doesnt have the easiest schedule either though. Sure there are some creampuffs BBL, STMA but thats conference. we Also have Orono, I Falls, Lourdes, Hermantown, SCC, and Mora.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Re: Thursday
Ya. We are. But Sauk is 0-5 against the teams that they use their "tough Schedule" plea on. The guy said How would Princeton do against Sauk's schedule, implying Princeton schedule is easy. I was noting that it's not the easiest schedule. I never said one thing about success against that schedule.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Re: Thursday
In Ptown's support here:

It's not how tough a team's schedule is by itself, it's how that team does playing that schedule. SR will claim that they have such a tough schedule that they should be seeded fairly high, but let's face it, they only won a few games... I would have a hard time thinking that SR should be anything above 6 seed... but it's not my call.

1) DM
2) SCC
3) Mora
4) Princeton
5) Denfield (?)
6) Sauk Rapids
7) Central
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)"> Sartell
9) 10) 11)

Dunno, kind of a muddled mass below third or fourth.. i dont think sr will be able to beat alex, alex is a very good team and i dont think sauk has what it takes to beat them
