Hermantown beat SR 9-3. Hermantown is a good team, but i was surprised that SR lost by that much.

Thanks for posting the seedings, Dragon. Looks like I'll get the chance to hop up to Mars-Lakeview on Thursday 2/26 and see Marshall play.

Lee

Yeah, the way DM's played on the road, I would guess they'll want as many games at home as they can get. The final being in St. Cloud (assuming, of course) could be an issue for them.

Mora's weak regular schedule going to hurt them?? I don't know that they've played that many tough teams, other than their win over Princeton...

The best quarterfinal game is going to be Priceton v. Out of 7 away games Marshall has lost 3. Totino-Grace, Rochester Lourdes, and Hayward, WI. Marshall should not of lost to Hayward, the two other teams is not that big of a deal, considering that they are not horrible teams. Any team plays better at home, same is for Marshall, but it should not influence the out come that much. If Marshall does not win because the game is not at home then they never would of won. A good team does not let this get in there way.
If the final game is SCC vs. DM, it should be close. DM beat them 5-2 early this year, and the goalies have gotten way better since then. I just hope DM makes it to the finals! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

How far away is St. Cloud from Duluth? 3 hours?

Good Draw

Post by ptown tigers »

As I am not a part of Princeton's "team" this year, I cant speak for them. But as a fan, I can say this is the best possible draw. Not only because Sauk is beatable, but a little redemption. It seems to me, after they lost to sauk Everyone seems to count them out. This is their chance to prove themselves. It should be a great game. Now im not saying they are gonna kill Sauk, it should be a great game. I am saying this is a draw they should like, because they get a chance for some revenge. If you can't get pumped up for a team you CAN beat, but got embaressed by earlier in the season, there is somthing wrong.

With that said, does anyone know the dates of the rounds?

Road to the EXCEL

Post by Oldblueliner »

It looks to be a very interesting section playoff. Here is how I think the games will go:

Pine City over Sartell
Proctor over DC
DD over Moose Lake

Quarter Finals

DM over Pine City
SCC over Proctor
Mora over DD
Princeton over SR

Semi

DM over Princeton
SCC over Mora

Finals

DM over SCC

The biggest game of the Q-Final will be Sauk at Princeton, Sauk has a chance but I think that princeton will win because of the loss to them earlier in the season at home. They want revenge. We are know beginning the greatest time of the year in high school hockey. Let the puck drop.

The distance factor is pretty big in this section. St. Cloud is approximately 2 1/2 hours from Duluth, if the weather's good. It's part of the game, I guess..

I LOVE this time of the season!!!!!

My predictions are above, BTW... I still stand by them..

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

My Picks...

Sartell over PC
Proctor over DC
DD over Moose Lake

Quarters...

DM over PC
SCC over Proctor
Mora over DD
SR over Princeton

Semis...

DM over SR
SCC over Mora

Finals...

SCC over DM

Overall this section is going to be a battle. The top 5 seeds all have a legitimate shot at making it to the Excel. We'll see how it all develops shortly.

Prediction

Post by Ahockeyman »

I believe the section winner will be whoever SCC loses to. I just don't think SCC can pull it off this year (sorry). Either Mora or Marshall will win the section.

I believe you are wrong on the whole scc thing this year. Granted they have played a pretty weak schedule, but they have beaten everyone pretty badly. The only teams they have lost to was when their goal tenders had off games. They have everyone back and from what i see in the games they have a lot of heart and they have what it takes. I think scc might have a shot, But really it is anybody's game when it comes to this section.

Does anyone else think Moose Lake got hosed this year in the seeding. They did tie for the best record amoung teams 5-11 at 10-12-1(PC and Moose Lake tied eachother) I dunno, it seems to me they got the short end of the stick. Although teams 6-11 are about equally bad i would say, but they did have one of the better records of the bottom echelon of the league.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Moose Lake

Post by 2AhockeyOldTimer »

I dont think that they got the short end of the stick whatsoever. But you say they are all equally bad, yet Princeton beat Sartell 2-1 (OT). But Princeton also beat SCC and Mora. So, it may have been off nights for all of the clubs, but 2-1 is not a blowout. I think the Winner of the SR/Princeton game may have enough to knock off number 1 DM

I also don't believe they got hosed. It's pretty tough to rank them any higher when they don't have a section win. I think they were 0-5-2 in the section....granted 2 of those loses were in overtime to Mora and Sartell....but the record is the record.

Bump it up...

Post by 2ahockeydude »

How could this thread get so far down the list?? My guess is Princeton folks aren't so confident, so they're not writing as much as usual... c'mon folks... let's hear about this section.

Everyone should be done with the season now... what are the final predictions before the playoffs begin??

DM - How's your record on the road?? I know you've played some tough teams, probably the toughest schedule in the section... (yeah, even tougher than Sauk Rapids...) How do you feel about the finals being down south??

SCC - Not the toughest schedule, but not the weakest either.. How will this team stack up when the chips are on the line?

Mora - Pretty weak schedule, but you've played pretty well, against teams that are ranked how high?? Is Princeton the highest ranked team you've beaten??

Princeton - Where are you guys? It doesn't appear that you're firing on all your cylinders right now.. true or false?

Sauk - This team is up and down... Can they make something happen?? The record doesn't look real hot, but they've played pretty well lately.. can they pull this off?

AND, I really don't think that there is anyone below these teams that have a chance.. do you?? (yeah, baiting a little, but I want to hear about it...)

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Bring on the FUN

Post by DB33Three »

Umm I am a Princeton folk all I have to say is during playoffs as a player I try to stay away from this stuff I only come on here for motivation. I think if we play are game we have a shot just like alot of other teams in the section. I think everyopne is just kinda waiting I mean I think once monday comes and tuesday when it starts it will pick up its just right now everyone is focusing in. I dunno if that makes any sense <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> .

The Favorties:
As for playoffs umm SCC Big time perfromance up North congrates on the 2 wins bringing some respect to 2A!. DM sends a big message on Friday by pounding Proctor 12-1 and Mora wins the Rum on Thursday!
These 3 Teams are very HOT!!!

The Rest:
Well Sauk has a dangerous sqaud alot will depend on the freshman in nets. As for us I wouldnt count us out by any means . Denfeld is a team no one really wants to have to play. Proctor, Sartell, PC, Central and Moose Lake all have an Upset with in themselves. Everyone who has been around this section knows there is a BIG UPSET every Year!!

Upset Special:
I dont have one it shall be fun and we will see what happens. As for me its my Senior year and I am just trying to enjoy every practice and every last fun moment of High School Hockey I have left. I have never tried to down grade any team on here just been on here to support mine. This board has added alot of FUN to the game for me. I Wish good luck to every team in the section no Matter who represents 2A at the execl I will be their or i will be cheering. Because we have alot of good teams and we deserve more respect in this state then we ever get. But if this is my last post (most likely not) Just wanted to thank all the people for making my high school hockey career a little more fun and intresting. But now on to the Playoffs should be great FUN!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
