Gorowsky was a Gladiator
Gorowsky was a Gladiator
Those that hadn't seen Tom play made comments about how he didn't stand out in sections and state. The kid played with a hernia (surgery Wednesday), pulled quad muscle and torn muscle in the knee.

Tom was an inspiration to his team and continued to score in the playoffs.

I noticed him falling more and being knocked off the puck which rarely happened when he was healthy. Tom is a testament to the team and how hard they worked.

Great Job Cougars!

Tom didnt stand out at all i thought. Good defensive forward i thought, made a good play with his goal vs AHA but watching that game the only player that really stood out was Jack Hillen from AHA. If Toms gonna be playing or expected to jump right into Wisconsin next year hes gonna need alotta work.

Re: Yes he was!
Last night he was unable to standout because he couldnt seem to stay out of the box. 2 penalties from your standout isnt what you need in a state tourney game.

Good thing centennial was too deep for it to matter.

Congrats Cougars, and we'll get em next year Spuds.

Standouts
Blueliner
Don't know what game you were watching while I was watching AHA vs. Centennial but Hillen didn't stand out AT ALL, sure he was a solid player but a stand out NO. The only real standout I saw during that game was Centennials goalie Stutz(spelling?). Stutz didn't allow a goal in 3 games, how did he not stand out against AHA?

Re: Standouts
wel i dont know what game u were watching hockeyboss because hillen i thought stood out defenitly in that game.....
i also did like that growosky played ( getting his nose in ther all the time ). because like someone said before the players with the most points tend to shy away from that.

gorowsky
I give Gorowsky props for playing through the injury, he didn't impress me that much by his play in the tourney despite the goal against AHA. He gets in the corners but hes not especially tough or anything from the 4 games ive seen him in (3 were in state tourney so that might be because of injury)

Hillen definately stood out more in the quarterfinals game though....no question. I didn't like how he glided all the way to the penalty box like a sally after the bs call for running into stutz, he looked like an idiot. That is the only game ive seen him though and I was impressed.

yea gorowsky looked GREAT last night. I mean, bending over holding his stomach for about 5 seconds, then all of a sudden hes in front of the net. But hey if i wanted to win teh cheap way and that was playing suckhole and icing the puck...Great job centennial.

I never said tom was a bad player. He is very skilled and he is the very heart of that GOOD centennial team but i just said he dint stand out i thought. I liked how he didnt back away from the physical play and he has a good release with his shot but look at his penalties in the tourny. U think your gonna play at wisconsin if u two hand players just cuz they knock you over? he needs to keep his head. I dint realize he has these injuries and was playing after a sugry so i give him credit playing with all his troubles but he still did not stand out in the tourny. Whoever said Hillen didnt stand out is just senseless. Yeah he lacks size but he skates well, handles the puck well, good shot, good defensivley and can rush the puck up very well. Its too bad he wasnt gifted with a little more size.

stand out
o totally respect tom for playing through the pain, but i did not see anything increadable from him, or anyone else for that matter. there was no single player in class AA the stood above the rest. you could lump 5-10 players together as the best but i did not see any standouts. also the star tribune touted RJ Anderson as the best offensive defencemen since mike crowley, after watching him play 3 games i though that was just a little bit of a reach...

Gorowsky
Of course Gorowsky didn't look like the greatest thing since groomed ice this last week, he was playing hurt!! It sounds like he was playing on one leg. Give him his due for sucking it up and playing, but realize that the player you saw in the tourney is not the real Gorowsky. I saw Centennial play five times before the tourney and was actually at the game that Gorowsky got hurt. As someone said earlier, for a goal scorer he's not a soft player at all, he's very hard to knock off the puck and has a nose for the net.

As far as R.J. Anderson goes, he is a very good offensive defensiveman, one who can take it end to end. I think Centennial deliberately played a tight defensive style so he didn't get many opportunities to show his skill. If he doesn't jump to the juniors next year he will be one of the best players in the state.

you people need to get a clue
First of all, Gorowsky made an impact just being on the ice. Like Slappy pointed out...5 points in 3 games against the top teams in state. Pretty lame, huh? And, have any of you ever had a hernia, let alone played hockey through one? That, among other injuries, greatly slowed him down. Tom is a great kid, a great leader, a great player and very deserving of Mr. Hockey 2004. I know your teams didn't win, but try to suck it up and at least show some graciousness in your losses.

Also, RJ Anderson showed in this tournament why he's the best defenseman (maybe best player) in the state. Solid all around, has a knack for knowing when to pinch in the offensive zone, set people up all over the ice, and was NEVER beaten in his defensive role.

All I have to say for Stutz is "props man." That kid played the tournament of his life. Showed just one more reason why his team can hang with the best.

Re: you people need to get a clue
What happened to Ryan Flynn why didn't he play in the championship game?? And you know #18 is a pretty good little guy for Centennial. And #20 was a really good fill in for Ryan Flynn.

agreed
i ahve to agree i thought that Lee and Hillan were better but not by much, those three were by far the 3 most talented d men atthe tourny, they all have the offensive skill that makes soem forwards weep for they wish they could handle the puck likethese three can

Re: Cougars
I was at every game this season that the Cougars played. Yes they did play a very weak North Suburban Confernce. R.J. Andersen is a very good player. I think he is better then Hillen and Lee. In the State Tournament he didn't really show off his offensive abilites as much as I think he would have like too. He played very solid defensively. I mean come on here the kid is only a Junior he was 3rd in the state in scoring as a defensemen. All of those points arent just from playing weak teams. Is a very good defensemen and will shine next year and hopefully bring back the 2nd straight Mr. Hockey to Centennial.

As for number 18 on Centennial that is Travis Vermeulen. He is a junior and will have a great season as a senior. #20 on the Cougars is Jordan VanGilder he is only sophmore very quick will help the Cougars try to repeat next season. Ryan Flynn only a sophmore as well. Probably the best in the state. He seperated his shoulder against Wayzata.

Good luck to the Cougars in '04-'05
