Snapshot-
You're right. The Elite League is a viable alternative. The only MN HS kids (including those who left) ranked in the last NHL draft ranking played in the league. In addition, a lot of these kids are committing to D-1 schools such as Yale, Minnesota, Dartmouth, Colgate, St. Cloud St., North Dakota, CC, Quinnipiac, Harvard, Air Force and MSU-Mankato. In 2002, the league's first year, the trend of kids leaving slowed, but was still around 40. In 2004, that number was just more than 10. Most of these kids should stay. Juniors is a good option for some (around the 10 who left last year), but not much more than that. Still, many junior coaches will make kids and their parents think otherwise.

Re: Juniors
All I know is that his mom has been active in planning blue line club activities for next year. Take that for what it's worth, but I hope it means he's staying. I also know the Seattle team wants him to come out there. We was drafted by them and in camp with them last fall and did well.
