This guy is a total loser and better be done for the season. Why did he even hit him? No point, he's just a complete loser all around.

Dandill, you must be a defense lawyer. How anyone can feel sorry for Bertuzzi ("he's suffered enough" you said) after what he did is incomprehensible. Are you cracked? He intentionally drove the man's head into the ice and fractured his vertebrae after knocking him out with a sucker punch, and you want to let him get away with only a 5-game suspension and a $50,000 fine? Does that punishment fit the infraction? I hardly think so. What kind of a message would that send to the other goons in the NHL if you gave him that slap on the wrist?

Also, don't blame the instigator rule, because that's just typical of today's society. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions anymore. No matter what you do, it's somebody else's fault. The instigator rule didn't make Bertuzzi do what he did.

No excuses here please.

One man sucker punches another man rendering him unable to defend himself then drives his head into the ice fracturing vertebrae in his neck.

#1 This was a cowardly act of assault. Sorry Bert, I admire your hockey talent but not this.

#2 This was unrelated to the instigator penalty issue. Can anyone suggest the instigator penalty prevented him from attacking him from in front? Surely he realized he would get an instigator penalty anyways.

#3 The injuries inflicted were severe. A fractured cervical vertebra constitutes a broken neck. A spinal cord injury leading to paralysis may result from breaking one's neck. Fortunately this does not appear to have occurred here.

#4 The suspension here must be longer than that of McSorley's; the precedent has been set.

#5 Criminal charges are reasonable.

DANDILL IS THE ONLY INTELLIGENT ONE ON HERE...

Post by THE ROCKET »

DANDILL IS THE ONLY ONE ON THIS BOARD WHO KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. THE REST OF YOU GUYS ARE SAD AND REALLY FEMININE SOUNDING. MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO VISIT THE MN GIRLS HOCKEY FORUM? SCHEIDS COULD BE THE OFFICIAL MODERATOR. EVERY SINGLE THING DANDILL SAID IS CORRECT. BERTUZZI DESERVES A 10 GAME SUSPENSION MAX AS WELL AS A HEFTY FINE. I SUGGEST AFTER MOST OF YOU ARE DONE SURFING THE GIRLS HOCKEY FORUM, GO TO WWW.CANUCKS.COM AFTER YOU ARRIVE THERE GO TO THE MESSAGE BOARD. THERE YOU WILL FIND A POST THAT HAS ABOUT 10 STILL SHOTS OF THE ALTERCATION. THE ONLY MISTAKE TODD MADE WAS PUNCHING HIM. THE REASON TODD FELL, SOME MIGHT SAY JUMPED, ON MOORE'S BACK WAS BECAUSE AFTER HE PUNCHED MOORE HE STEPPED ON HIS OWN STICK AND TRIPPED. IT HAPPENED SO QUICKLY, BUT AFTER I SAW THESE STILL PICS IT CHANGED EVERYTHING I HAD ORIGINALLY THOUGHT. THESE PICS ARE SIMILAR TO THE ONES IN TODAYS PIONEER PRESS. TOUGHEN UP BOYS. IF YOU THINK YOUR MAD NOW, WAIT UNTIL THE CANUCKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP THIS SEASON. THEIR MOST RECENT ADDITIONS OF SANDERSON AND RUCINSKY ARE GOING TO TAKE THEM TO GLORY BABY. EVEN WITHOUT STALLION BERTUZZI, THE CANUCKS WILL BE A FORCE THIS PLAYOFFS. TONIGHT THE WILD ARE GONNA GET DESTROYED.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS 2004 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

There are 13 games left in the season. I say sit him the rest of the season, including the playoffs. The incident was terrible. As for what rocket said, 10 game suspension, I dont agree with it, sit him the rest of the year then let the league figure it out over the summer. It was premeditated and a pure lack of class.

excuses, excuses, and more excuses.
Rocket you and dandill are insane to stand behind bertuzzi and back his actions. So now its bertuzzi's stick that is at fault for him "tripping" onto Moore's broken neck?? (after a cowardly thrown punch from behind otherwise known as "a sucker punch"??). Falling on him was such an accident that bertuzzi just decided to continue throwing punches at his head after the fact, Riiiiight?
You got to be kiddin me.
How about you and dandill go together to the hospital and tell Moore to "toughen up". I am sure thats what you would like to hear when your neck is broken with face lacerations and not being able to think straight because of a concussion.
Todd not only made the mistake of "sucker" punching him, but also made the mistake of landing on him afterwards with all of his weight while continuing to throw more punches. Oh yeah, he also made the mistake of making it obvious during the game that he was going to get back at him someway, somehow. When you chase the guy around the ice on one of the shifts prior to the incident it kind of gives you some foresight. Tell me that he didnt have those intentions beforehand? Yeah right.
I am sure bertuzzi is sorry for what he did (after the fact). That absolutely does not make up for what he did though. Take some responsibility and face the fact that his season, playoffs, and hopefully some of next season is played without him.
Its too bad that he just jeopardized his teams whole playoff chances.
Nothin like thinking for yourself and not for the team.

Bertuzzzi was just getting Moore back for injuring Naslund it was the 2nd cheapest thing i've ever seen on the ice. I think he should be back for playoffs at least I mean this is hockey . I would have went after him too but not as cheap just think he injured your best player alot of guys just get payed to protect the stars so everybody quit your whining.

I've shattered my leg (tibia/fibula) knocked out both front teeth, chipped molars, got concussions, had knee surgery, torn hamstrings, pulled groins and neck surgery all resulting from playing hockey and I keep coming back for more. amen to that.
But I think there are a couple people on here that dis-agree. Supposedly that kind of behavior on the ice deserves recognition and praise.

Did anyone catch what Ty Domi said on sportscenter today he said that people have no idea how it feels to be on the ice in a situation like that. He also said that when a player does that, they have no idea what they are doing they are just to filled with rage to realize it until they have done it then they are like what the heck did i just do and they end up regretting it. Ty Domi should know what he is talking about for the hit that he put on the Devils Scott Niedermayer in the playoffs a couple years back. I know that what Bertuzzi did was un called for and he should get major punishment but anyone who has ever done something like that (but not to those extremes) should know that when you are really mad at someone you can't control yourself and you are filled with rage. But in this case Bertuzzi took it to far and he should be severely Punished for his actions on the ice. There is no room for that in this great game.

i think that was Bertuzzi did was visicious but wayne gretzky put it best, "Wayne Gretzky said it was an example of something that can happen in a sport that often turns violent." I mean we arent playing tennis here violences can happen and when emotions are runnin high things will happen, im not saying it was called for but bertuzzi should be suspended rest of the year but legal actions should not be brought on.

Let's not forget that what he did was premeditated stemming from a game earlier in the season. This was not about him losing his head because of intense play on the ice that night and he just got caught up in the moment. PREMEDITATED!!! He should be done as far as I am concerned. He pulled a goonish, cowardly boner.

moore had already been taken care of with his hit on naslund with his fight against cooke...so bertuzzi took it to another level in more than one way...plus the hit on naslund wasnt that bad in a sense that he was just in an awkward position when he got hit...

hey lets give bertuzzi a 5 game suspension and have him pay pennies out of his salary because this was just an incident where hockey players were policing themselves.
Meanwhile after his 5 game vacation he can come back and lead the canucks into the playoffs and possibly win a stanley cup while steve moore watches from his hospital bed or at home while he wears a halo on his head and neck. Yup, sounds like justice to me.

(AP) - Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks was suspended for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs by the NHL on Thursday for attacking Colorado's Steve Moore. In addition, Bertuzzi's eligibility for next season will be determined by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman before the start of training camp. The Canucks were also fined $250,000. More...
