The Spuds have pretty much a free pass to the State Finals with all the competition in the other bracket. Can they win the only "real contest" they have left or will they become 5 time bridesmaids?

I don't know if I would say that anyone has a free pass to the state finals but if I gave that notion out this year it would have to be the spuds, I didn't get to see sat. game, heard it could have gone either way?

Do as I say, not as I do is what you seem to proclaim. Let me put it this way - what bracket would you rather have the Spuds in(if they make it) - the upper or the lower? The 'penalty shot' call was the probably the gutsiest(although obvious) made by an official during the State Tourney and you know it. Pretty pathetic there old man. Big difference between FACTORS and excuses is the fact one bracket is much weaker than the other. Yes or No? Moorhead is O for 4 in the finals. yes or no? You have made it a forgone conclusion that Moorhead is already the uncrowned 2004 champs. yes or no? No excuses, just questions! No lapdogs, just cougars, jaguars and hornets!

I'm not so sure about that gilley, but I'll take your word for it............. I really like the spuds this year and think they have all of the tools to win their first title and possibly number two next year, but I just have a feeling and here it is: The Vikings don't win the Superbowl, the Cubs and Sox don't win the World Series and the Spuds don't win the State Championship.......Sorry guy, it's going to feel a lot like last fall in March...................................

Obviously no love lost between BIAFP and Slappy. Gotta side with BIAFP on this one. To win the title, Cent will have to have to beat at least 3 top ten teams, probably 4. Moorhead will not face one until the final. Bluesbuddy's text reminds me of trying to read Chaucer so I skipped most of his post, but I liked the point about attitude. Moorhead has to overcome the legitimate threat of a letdown - then beat an excellent team in the final. Cent has to run the table against hellish odds. Either one would be a great champion. If this was a horse race, I'd put my money on the 4-1 shot, Holy Angels.

metromick, Nice post! I have said all along that Moorhead is one of the best teams in the state and if Centennial doesn't win I would love to see the Spuds win the title. Slapshooter and his followers dodge the big issue constantly. They will NOT admit the road to the finals is pretty smooth for the mighty Spuds. That's not a rip on Moorhead just a fact of life. However, it's a pretty touchy subject for Slappy and the boys. The section 8 dominates thread was started mainly because of this. I admire Slapshooter's loyality to the Spuds but he knows darn well if Moorhead were in the upper bracket he WOULDN't be making all these absolute statements. For once Admit it Slapshooter!! Anyone who knows me, realizes if the Cougars had the Spuds draw I would be saying how lucky they are. Any knowledgeable hockey fan can see this. Slapshooter, I believe you to be a knowledgeable fan but you are a wonderful dodger of this question. Do the Spuds have a very favorable draw?????????????

Metromick- Glad to see you back on the board. I am looking forward to some great postseason games as I know you are. Maybe see you in Hibbing on Saturday? As far as Moorhead goes, I would love to see them win it all as I always pull for the outstate teams and they are more than due. I just don't hitch my trailer so tightly to one horse as do some others.

A guy has to go back to my dad's generation to find folks who don't pull for the Greater Minnesota underdog. If Moorhead meets Centennial for the title my heart will be torn. I want the Spuds to get that 1st title, but I also think the evolution of the Cougars program is a great story. BIAFP - much to our chagrin, had to cancel the Duluth/Hibbing swing this weekend. Gotta get our leaky-ass, no-fish ice house off the lake. See what we metros have to deal with during tourney time?

I am really sick and tired of people here whining about how the brackets are set up this year and how the path for Moorhead is so easy to the finals. If you have a beef about it, take it up with the MSHSL. They are the ones who rotate the bracket matchups every year. If Moorhead does win the title, is it somehow tainted because their road was 'easy' in some people's eyes? If so, then I guess the year Jefferson went undefeated and won the title and everyone knew when that season started they were by far the best team, that championship was tainted too. It's not Moorhead's fault that everyone thinks they are so much better than any of the other teams that are possible matchups in the lower bracket. If Centennial is this awesome team destined to win the title this year as some people think, then in theory ANY bracket they are in should be easy for them, correct?
