It dont matter how you do it

Post by joe lulic »

People are picking Moorhead to win because they are a good team. Who they draw in St Paul isnt controlled by them. If it is an easy draw it will make it more likely that people who predict they will win will be right. I think those people are fine with that.

If the team in the other bracket is as great as everybody seems to think they are, then they will win regardless of the draw.

So Joe- If the team in the "other" bracket has two close games and Moorhead has two no contests, is it an excuse as your fine friend Slappy states? Good for the goose and not the gander?

Centennial's draw MUST be just as easy as Moorhead's since they are the #1 ranked team in the COUNTRY, as you pointed out yourself in another topic, BIAFP.

Well ,if the draw on the other side is too tough, I wouldnt pick one of those teams.

If you dont think anoher team has as favorable of a situation as Moorhead, why not pick them to win? Isnt that part of it?

What is that you want? Fair? Pick da Spuds. I think that moorhead definately has the talent to win the tournament. Everybody knows that funny stuff happens in the state tournement and lots of times the best team in state doesn't win the tournament. I think that we should just hope for a great championship game between Centennial and Moorhead!

Isn't it a bit early to have Moorhead in the finals already? Haven't they already been beaten by East this year proving that they are not far and away the best team? Wasn't it just a year ago when all the experts had Holy Angels in the finals, they were in the "easy" bracket, after all Roseville and Eden Prairie were in the bottom bracket. They were by far and away the best team in the tournament we all thought, oops an unherlded Anoka team knocked them off. Maybe Centennial and Moorhead are the 2 best teams, but being the best team today means nothing, everybody is vulnerable now, it's one and done, you take anybody lightly you're probably going home. I hope Motinville and Moorhead have more sense than many of us annointing Moorhead as a finalist.

Yup...the spuds did get beat by East. It worries me too, because that was also a 2nd game of a hotel stay, as will a state semifinal. Hopefully, the outcome is different this time.

Last year, the Spuds opened the tourney with AHA, and lost. The year before, they opened with Roseville, and lost. Both teams were decent and could play, but drew the #1 team in the state(at those times) in round 1. This year, Moorhead's backet looks more condusive to winning(not necessecarily easier). You cannot blame those kids for getting a better draw. It just happens. We cant sit and seed the state tourney, theres just no way to get great comparisons between all of these teams around the state(watch Mitch, Lee, the AP, and other sources try to agree). Each year the draw is different(they dont put the 'bad' sections together on purpose, and seriuosly, who knows that team will be a 'bad section' before december or later, anyways).

Moorhead becomes statistically more legit by getting to play Elk River(or a 4AA team) and the 1vs7 winner. There arent any huge juggernaut teams in that group. But there are SOLID teams, ones that can (and have) take the Spuds.

2 weeks ago, a bunch of people agreed that the Cent/Moorhead and even the Moorhead/WBL games were some of the best in the state. What that promises is a great state tourney, so lets watch these section tourneys and see exactly who is gonna show up to these games at the X.

But in the end...go Spuds!

POINT PROVEN!!

Thank you for proving my point!

I have never said that it was Moorhead's fault that they have an easy bracket. That's the way the cookie crumbles. If they win it all I will be the first to congratulate them on here.

A few however will not answer the simple question, instead they play politics as usual. Personally I think Centennial and Moorhead are the two best teams in the state but rarely do the two best meet up in the finals. That is what makes playoff hockey so wonderful.

Good luck to all teams!!

Moorhead has proved to be the second best team in the state during the regular season. With the section they are in and the lower bracket draw they probably have the best odds to win as I posted earlier.

Centennial has proven to be the best team during the regular season but it's obvious to almost everyone their road is much more treacherous. I would love to see the two meet in the finals. That would make for an outstanding game.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Falling on their faces are you kidding me? Do you know anything about hockey? How did Moorhead fall on their face. Was it the thrilling 4-3 ot victory over Elk River? Was it the rout of Duluth east 6-3? Or the 1-0 loss to the number one ranked team in which they had to kill a 5 mintue major and didnt allow centennial anything? You call that falling on their faces. Leave SS alone and go watch basketball or some inferior sport of which the likes of you belong.
Moorhead State Champs 2004

Eventhough they finished second in the tourney this year, my hats go off to Moorhead, especially Hittle and Joe Emmerich. Hittle played one of the best games I've ever seen him play. Joe was throwing checks, taking shots, and playing some strong D when challenged. Good luck to Joe, Giff, Nick, Henry, and Nolan in the Great 8. Watch out for these Spuds next year - the team will be filled with some really talented seniors. Good luck guys and way to end a awesome season - I had a blast!!!

I wouldn't go that far - the Red Sox and Cubs don't make it to the finals while the Spuds actually do. Pick a team that loses year in and year out in the Section finals and there's your Sox/Cubs teams <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
