Anything to be said about WDC

Post by warroadsalt »

Anything people want to get off their chest from this year, or changes that need to be made for next years team? I think they definitely need to add a few better teams to their schedule. Also they need to start recognizing the mistakes that the team is making over and over and start correcting them in practice and in game settings.

wadena

with all due respect, wadena did have to mess up their lines and stuff due to an injury. they've already scheduled better teams for next year, they got virginia and eveleth i know but im not sure who else, maybe st. cloud cathedral. yes albert lea beat them, but wadena was defenitely the better team...you must not have watched that game. warroadsalt, what are these mistakes you speak of?

Wadina showed just how bad some teams schedules are. for that team to go 26-1 is absoultly insane. if they played a tough schedule, even for single A standards they would struggle to break .500

Wadena

There were four teams in 1A (the worst section known to man) that were better than Wadena.

i should not have said that they were better, but from what i saw i thought they played the better game just didnt get any bounces. there is no way 4 teams in 1A are better...sorry to tell you that. remember that wdc was playing ssp pretty tough, 1-0, until the injury. then lines were messed up and people were playing with people they dont play with...anyone on a team could get injured and it just messes with a system. i still have much pride in our town, they made it!

Wadena was playing SSP tough, 1-0, until the packers got the jitters out... Same as Albert Lea vs. Breck in the first round.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> Once the teams settled down it was never in question.

Well, WDC got beat by a team (Albert Lea) that got outscored like 20-4 in the state tourney. WDC had no right to be there. Their only loss was to Little Falls??? And that was considered a tough game for them.

The only team from 1A that might have had a chance to win at least 1 game at state, in my opinion, was Fergus Falls because they had a goalie that could get hot and surprise someone.

Everyone wondered all season why Wadena didn't get recognition. This is why, they played the worst teams in state and happened to beat them until they got to the actual good teams and got worked. (And I use the term good loosely with Albert Lea.

Well the fact that they gave up the puck over and over at the defensive blue line instead of passing to the far side or pulling it back and looking for an open guy. Also they lost the puck over and over at the offensive blue line by getting to fancy or stick handing too much, when they should have just been dumping the puck. Another thing was that the defensemen shot the puck into blockers and crowds of people over and over again, instead of shooting wide for tippers or just dumping the puck would have made sense. They had no physical presence in any of the games, I think the coaches are afraid of playing a checking hockey game, and they don’t teach the hooking game in WDC so it was easy for other teams to work well against them. Also I wasn’t really looking for people to come on and say the obvious statement that everyone in the state was thinking, that Wadena sucks. I’ll admit it, the sucked eggs in that tourney, it was embarrassing loosing to Albert Lea. I know many people who were absolutely sick to their stomach watching them play the worst games I’ve seen them play all year. They skated hard but there was no method to the madness.

WDC was the best team from a poor section.
But I hope they enjoyed it. They have a couple of kids with potential of post-high school hockey.

But the future of 4 will go back to Fergus and Little Falls.
L Falls has a coach that will make the program work as does Fergus (not saying WDC doesn't, but I don't know him).

L Falls is tough in the youth ranks right now and I don't see that changing.
