AA seedings in 05

Post by NeedsMoreCowbell »

I'm looking at the seedings for the state tourney next year, and im surprised by the matchups: sections 1 vs 5, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 4, and 6 vs 8. im not sure about where these games are positioned on the bracket, but im wondering why the strongest sections are facing off against eachother first round next year. cant hurt to be the Hounds/GR next year or AHA....

also, should the mshsl move to seeding the tournament? any opinions are welcome

should be 2AA v 3AA

Post by Jazzkat »

in next year's state tourny, 2AA should oppose 3AA. Undoubtedly, 3AA is the strongest section in the state (Hill, WBL, Centennial). One of those 3 teams will win the section. (Sorry NSP, Stillwater, others) Tartan will also likely make it to state again, since they had to move to a weak section to get in for the first place. (Come on-you guys may not be as good as the top 3 in 3AA, but youre certainly far better than the rest of that section-2AA) Tartan would then face off against 3AA at state, and I think that would be a good way to start it off.

But hey-the comment about all the best teams facing off early on is almost a fact of life that we just have to deal with. No matter how hard we try, HM, WBL, CENT deserve state every year, but only one of us can make it out of our section. So then you take into consideration that if all the best teams were allowed into state it wouldnt matter because there would be no weak teams.

pairings

Post by hockeydad »

Where did you find the pairings? Are they on the MSHSL web site.

I know in the past, first round pairings have been done on a rotating basis. If section 1 played section 2 this year, 3 vs. 4, etc., they would have the same parings again seven years from now, though maybe not the same brackets... They were set up years in advance. don't know if that has changed or not.
