Pull Tabs for Youth Hockey Info needed
Pull Tabs for Youth Hockey Info needed
I have two kids playing Mites for Cooper. Our organization never has had a bar sell pull tabs to help raise money for us and this year our fees for Squirts-Bantams (not including extra tourneys, equipment, summer, etc) were nearly $1,500.

I am organizing a committee to find our the do's and don'ts, good and the bad of us looking at finding a bar(s) so we can raise some money and lower our costs.

When I did some checking in the last two weeks (I got brochures) I found out our fees were nearly 3x higher than St. Louis Park and Edina's in our area for example.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated. If you have anything printed out feel free to email it to me at
Froomcat@yahoo.com

Thanks

You first need to get a charitable gabling license through the state then establish that your association is non profitable. The charitable gambling license does take some time to get but can be very lucrative for your association. I'm from Albert Lea and our squirts pay 100.00 per year do 120.00 in fund raising they get 80 hours of ice time not including tournaments or games.

Froomcat:

The first thing I would suggest you do is to get out of the Cooper Association and move to St Louis Park. You kids would then eventually have a chance to be coached by your buddy Paul Olson. (Just kidding).

Here is a link to the State's Charitable Gambling website. There is lot's of good info here to help you get a pulltab operation started for your association. Good luck!

www.gcb.st ...

I suggest you talk to Jake Brandt. He should be able to get you some free pull tabs! Providing he can run fast enough this time...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Scheids
(A legend in his girlfriend's mind.)

upucker -

How many squirts do you have? and How much is ice per hour there? Seems like you guys have a heck of a deal going there. How many kids in the youth hockey association?

As far as the pull tabs - they can be a very beneficial fund source. I would caution you only on the compliance. Make sure that you have checks and balances within your system, and have some one sharp doing the book work and monthly statements to the state. Our association clears about 75,000.00 per year on our 5 sites. So it helps.

Re: Pull Tabs for Youth Hockey Info needed
Cornermukker
We have about 60 squirts in our program, 34 of which are on the traveling teams (2A teams) 50 hours they split the ice for practices. 30 hours of ice time comes from the inhouse program (all travelers play in the inhouse) our ice time cost is 125.00 per hour. By sharing the ice time between 2 teams we cut the cost down per player. Our association makes up the difference from charitable gambling. We believe by keeping the cost down at the entry level we will keep more kids in hockey.

Thanks and keep any ideas coming
Thanks to all of you so far for the insight and ideas. Feel free to add anything that could help me.

I appreciate it.

John
