Loken
I agree that Loken should have made it. How do you make honorary mention all state in the Star Tribune and the Pioneer Press, and don't get mentioned in the Duluth News or IRC all conference????????
I think the Duluth sportswriters are smoking to much of that wacky tobacky.......... or they've never been to the Falls. Looks like the road ends in Virginia.

Re: Loken
You falls boys got 3 kids selected to this IRC team..and you still b!tch. If anything i would say yank the kid from mesabi east off..and put the otehr babich on. they BOTH were in the All Star game, and they played well inthe game i watched. i find it hard to believe that this is more prestigous than the All Star game, and therefore should include at LEAST everyone who was on that roster.

Conference selections
All the post-season All-Star teams have different selection committees. The Iron Range All conference team is selected by the Iron Range coaches. The Duluth News Tribune All Area team is done by Duluth sportswriters, and the C.C.M. team is selected by the Kernz and Co. group, whatever that is. The Pioneer Press is done by their writers and the A.P. team is just printed in the Star Tribune. The Minutemen group choses Mr. Hockey. This is why there are disparities. A couple of examples would be, one, Nate Dey being selected as Mr. Hockey last year, and not making first team all-state, same with Aaron Miskovich in 1997. Dylan Mills was the Duluth News Tribune player of the year, and Misky won Mr. Hockey! Go figure.

Loken
Both Maida and Geissler were also honorable mention all-state and Geissler was first team LSC all-conference. Loken had a nice year, but the Duluth paper chose the correct two goalies. Check the stats. Besides, Loken is a jr. so he would have to be the next Patrick Roy to be picked over these kids.

irc
yeah how does mesabi get 2 selections and Ely nor Chisolm gets a select?

I agree Loken should have made the selection, if many other juniors made the list, and would be the best goalie on that list.

Whatever it is i doubt the people in the selection process are very skilled in their hockey knowledge and just picked who they knew

All I.R.C.
Did Ely or Chisholm have any players that should've made the team? Ely isn't in the I.R.C. anyway. The I.R.C. coaches pick this team, and who would you rather have picking this team?

Re: All I.R.C.
I played for Mesabi East a few years ago.

Michalski and Hull deserved it. Michalski has been on the varsity team since he was in 8th grade.
<img src="http://www.angelfire.com/mn3/giguere_35 ...
