Arrigoni to STA?

Post by olde tyme hockey 9 »

heard a rumor today that brian arrigoni from hill was not happy about not being selected as one of the 3 captains and was telling people he wanted to go play at STA next year. Any truth to that?

It's too bad that he wasn't selected to be a captain. He truly was deserving, but STA probably will be selecting their captains soon from this year's team, so he wouldn't be a captain there either. Why would you think that Brian would leave all his friends at Hill to play for STA? I don't see any reason at all why he would leave so I would have to say this rumor is probably FALSE.

im just wondering because a friend of mine at hill said he heard him telling people he was gonna try to go to sta next year. i know that he wouldnt be captain at sta next year obviously so im guessing he is just settling down after probably a pretty rough reaction. any reasons y he didnt get captain? attitude or something? and can anyone else say anything on this rumor?

don't know the kid, but...

If he's upset and going to transfer because he wasn't picked as a captain, it would indicate he wasn't captain material to begin with.

Great point Hockeydad. Character is best tested during periods of adversity. If he decides to "take his ball & go home" because he didn't something he thought he deserved, then I guess he failed the test. I don't know the boy personally & he is a nice hockey player, but if he feels playing for a Class A team better souts him, them I wish him well.

you guys are criticizing the kid based on rumor. i am sure he is disappointed but most of us do not know if he has mentioned leaving. i think we should not be commenting unless there is substance here.

nolookpassguy

i remember that your past posts have hinted very strongly that you are a hill insider. in fact you have mentioned that you know lechner has talked to certain kids specifically about different issues. how is it that you say you don't know arrigoni but then you make a statement regarding his character and "if he decides to take his ball and go home" you wish him well? could it be that you are lechner yourself?

again, i think it is unfair to start commenting and criticizing the kid based on rumor. as far as most of us know it is purely speculation with zero substance to this point.

arrigoni is a good hockey player. is he captain material? i don't know. what i do know is that he doesn't live next to lechner and his dad doesn't follow lechner around whenever he can. i also know that his dad didn't play for hill and brian doesn't practically sit on the coaches lap either. that is the disappointing part......i could have told you who was going to be the captains next year just by observing the kids and the parents.......and it doesn't have to do with hockey ability or leadership qualities.

My entire post was based on "If" certain things took place. It was a response to a previous post. "If" leaves open the possiblity that an incident may or may not have occured. I believe most would have been able to deduct that from the message. But if one has a slight bias twards something, they would tend to oversee that information & tend to go off unneccesarily. I'll forgive you.

nolookpassguy and hockeydad

my point is exactly that...........since it is an "if" situation the rest of the commentary is unnecessary. i'm really not trying to be a smart a here, just saying that maybe we should not enter in to these discussions on an "if" as it is hopefully just a moot point.

Arrigoni to STA

Post by brickwall33 »

First off Arrigoni is not going to STA. That would be pointless for him. Second off you can tell who the captains were going to be by how the parents relationship with the coach was?? Come on. First off not everyone can "wear" the "C". But everyone can act as a leader on the team. So what if Brian doesn't have the "C" on his chest. He can act as a captain even though he is not labeled one. I can guarantee you that he will not go to STA and that he will become one of the leaders of the team next year. Being able to take the fact that he was not chosen captain and get over it and lead by example will even more solidify his leadership on the team.

Arrigoni

Must agree with brickwall. Besides, last year H-M's goalie Fangel didn't receive a captain patch, but he ended up being one of the best leaders on the team. He also won the team MVP award as well.

Arrigoni is not leaving, and he will still be one of the most valuable players on the team, this changes nothing.

In my opinion it is impressive to be a good leader with a C on your jersey, but what's more impressive are those who can lead without that letter on their jersey....remember that is all it is a letter

HM CAPTAINS

Post by THELAUBACHER »

Who picks the captains, Lechner? Well I shout out a big who cares and what does he know about good character. Lechner is a better than good hockey coach ; however............ when he decided to put his kid on the hockey team it was for himself. A right allegedly earned because of the financial sacrifices he made to coach at HM ($125,000-per year is the latest figure floating around). Whatever credibility he had before the 04/05 season is gone. More than one hardworking 14 year old earned the spot. Case closed. But daddy wanted to see his kid "wear the sweater". Lechner has yet to comprehend how much respect was lost. AT HM-it's not what you know it's who you know. A stronger JV coach and legitmate AD would have spoken up to the wizard. It's truly sad that people with character continue to defend this schmuck. Nolook-you're either the Lec himself or one of the most loyal friends a person could have. The more I talk to people on "the inside" the less his character shines. A coach with character doesn't yuk it up with other adult males about the hot hockey mom's. They call him Letch-ner. Men like him make it hard for the rest of us to overcome the classic stereotype that we are living our unachieved dreams through our kids and constantly contemplate trying out our moves at a different rink.

Post by olde tyme hockey 9 »

k this isnt a rip lechner topic, its if arrigoni is gonna stay at hill.. i have heard from a few hill players (two to be exact) so it may be quite biased but that they were almost thrilled when they heard that arrigoni might be leaving hill. this kid is a damn good player so y would 2 teammates of his that he played with last year act like that? is he really that much of a locker room cancer? and did noone else hear he might leave hill?

I apologize to Mr. Arrigoni for implying lack of character on his part. As I said, I don't know the young man. I was just using the information used in the previous posts.
