I don't know. That first win over Sauk Rapids, which by no means is anything to raise an eyebrow to, is still a very big confidence builder, this team if you remember, just barely got by Morris last year before losing to Wadena's best team ever.........however, Wadena is coming off of its best season, this can be good or bad, good for the confidense, bad for the bullseye they now wear. Little Falls may come up big but like I said, it sounds like the first six games will tell a lot about the Otters, the Flyers will show a lot in their conference play and Wadena's "work to do list" (big or small) will come out this weekend, keep me posted on them, big Iron Range trip against some rough teams should be interesting.

oldschool, virginia game was a no show for wadena,by the time they decided the game had started it was over. First game of the year with lots of people missing it wasnt pretty. However they did gather their game a little as it went on.Virginia is pretty darn good! Eleveth was a little different wadena went up 3/1 till 7 mins left in the third and made some mistakes and gave the game away to a tough scrappy team.Wadena played with 2 lines pretty much the 2 games and it started to show in that third. I was however impressed with the way they played the second game and am sure they will be a very tough team to beat after this week. 2 of the 3 seniors out are back this week. The third gets doctors ok hopefully by weeks end. Goal tending was as expected a young soph that gained confidence as the games went on but is still nervious as was all the younger guys that played.

I was not at the games so I really cant comment on them to much. But i did listen to the Virgina game on the radio
and 3 goals in the first nine shots wont get it done against anyone. I hope Wadena finds away to limit shots on goal. Or this might be a long season.

Fergus Falls

Post by oldschool »

Fergus Falls 2, East Grand Forks 2

fun game to watch, Fergus scored 1 power play goal, EGF put two in and Fergus tied it late in the third. They killed a couple penalties, first EGF goal was a 5 on 3 against fergus. OT had chances for both teams, Fergus called on a BAD penalty late in the period, completely wrong call, .............killed it off, with about 10 seconds to go egf flurry in front of ice man goalie Swendson goal goes off mourings, fergus players quit, egf player put it in the net, no goal, Swendson waving it off in front of egf player in ref's face, egf coach on ice, giving the ref the birdie. at end of game Fergus kdi covers puck, egf goon hits him back of head, game ends in near brawl.
Fergus looked good, quick, spreading out the ice, some nice offense, some very physical play, strong defense, goalie was impressive. Fun team to watch. showed a lot of charrecter coming from behind almost winning and killing a penalty at the end of OT. up next , tomarrow in Grand Forks against Red River.................how's Wadena doing or Little Falls..........

I was told from a friend of mine that two fergus players got hurt and could be out for a while. Both are players fergus needs in the line up. Also i belive goalie Swenson gets the night of tonight agains grand forks central. This game should be interesting with 2 players hurt and a different goalie in the nets.

well all i will say is that is was a first line forward and a 2nd set defence that got hurt. i have heard that the forward is out for the whole year and i have heard he is only out for a couple weeks. The defenceman is out for a little while. I have no idea about praire center, i think i remember them beating someone prety good. I know they are playing AA this year because the school system is to big.

Fergus Falls

Post by oldschool »

Early wake up call for these young boys, Grand Forks Red River beat teh Otters, 10-0. Bad game. All the excuses can come, the night after an emotional game, two starters out, back up goalie playing etc....but to me it is classic head up yo a$$ attitude of fergus players................bottom line is, you got to win two tough games in two days to win a state championship, you don't have the 3 hours of travel in between, but............and 41 saves ain't bad at all especialy for the backup goalie, the wya it sounds, the boys were probably tired.........young team, this will help them grow, and remember they already beat a top 15 team on Friday, no excuse, but they are three games into the season. Up next for Fergus Falls is Fargo's Shanley High School at Fargo, should be a game that Fergus can improve in and get back on track with.
I see that Wadena lost to Hallock, but Little Falls smoked Willmar, this will get interesting before the year's over. Fergus follow's their road game in Fargo next Tuesday with a game at Little Falls that Friday, then on Saturday the 18th they finally get a home game, but it is against non other than Rochester Lourdes. COuld be some shake up in the seciton, we should have a much clearer view by then.........also, Clay, Prarie Centre is Sauk Centre and Long Prarie, I'd highly doubt that they play in aa...............

Prairie Centre

Post by scheids316 »

oldschool, I think shutout035 is right. Prairie Centre was a AA program the last time I checked. I can't find any confirmation of that anywhere on the web, but I distinctly remember a discussion about it sometime last year.

10-0 is ugly no matter how you look at it. But, it's early yet, and they boys have plenty of time to improve.

Managing a tie against EGF is impressive. I still am completely unsure of how this season will go for the Otters. I do think they have more talent than last year, and if they can play as a team under their new coach, I think they will surprise a few teams that might be looking past them.

One year away from State is one too many. Good luck Otters the rest of the way.

prairie center is in 4a....browerville has no team of their own.......browerville doesn't even have an indoor ice sheet..........With consolidated programs it doesn't take total enrollment of all schools involved.......

Post by oldschool »

Sorry, no need to start controvoursy, I believe you and still think it is stupid. Also, I suppose the reason that Rocori High School, (Rockport, Cold Spring, Richmond) is in AA is because the Cold Spring High School was that big??????????? I'd doubt it. It would be sad and defeating if they didn't take both school's attendance into consideration. Any way, good luck to them...they could surprise eventually. Well, let's see here, who is left in this section??? looks like a four horse race, and really only two, and probably Fergus' to lose in the end. Sheidz, I saw this team play, they ARE good, they must have just gotten a rude awakening, some very good Otter teams have taken a lump or two before finding themselves. These guys moved the puck well, played their own game, and had plenty of heart in the EGF game and I am looking forward to seeing them against Rochester Lourdes, and maybe I'll even get to see them in the Iron Range.........
how's everyone else doing????

Synergy - Thanks for going directly to the source to clear this up. Looks like Scheids thin skin gets him into trouble again and doesn't like to be proven incorrect. The more things change, the more they stay the same. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

At any rate, look for those pesky Flyers from the Falls to come out on top when the Section finals roll around. This should be Couture's year with this club, especially with that dangler Festler in the line-up.
