Wadena-Deer Creek/Staples-Motley/Verndale/Henning 4, Detroit Lakes 2. Final from Detroit Lakes. WDC used three power play goals (Postell, Henry and Pettit) and an empty netter (Pettit) to get the victory. DL got goals from Gunderson and Schiller.

Ha, he beat me to it, I was just coming on to announce WDC over Dl, guess they didnt easily handle Waena like you thought. That puts them 12 - 1 over Little Falls, Fo shizzle. Oh and Warroad Rules Oldschool, 21 - 1 over east grand, little better than the Fungus Falls Udders, haha.

Wadena 4 DL 2 Wadena had 3 power play gaols and an empty netter. Wadena is the best team in 4a

wadena did look sharp last 2 games. This soph goalie is doing a great job im thinking his save percent is up near 91 per right now. With the improvement in the schedule not bad. Anyone thinking wadenas down this year only has to see them play when everyones healthy, as in now, someone else might take the section but wadena will be a big test for them. And that is funny saying wadena was an embarrassment at state, when they beat fergus twice and little falls twice to get there. Not sure that fergus has never been 2 and out.If wadena was an embarrassment thank god one of the other 2 teams didn't go.

Do you guys up there in hockeyville get movies??? ever seen Joe Dirt, duh....anyway, I'd never have expected 12 - 1 over EGF, great win, anyway this is a section 4 thread....a little sarcasm man... Fergus did go two and out in their ( 7 ) years at state, one year they got anhiilated by Hermantown, and East Grand Forks, both 6 goal games...of course they also won the section by at least 6 goals....and the other year was a loss to Breck and a loss to Rochester Lourdes.........an interesting fact to ponder in Fergus' luck at state, 5 years they lost to the eventual champion, Red Wing, Breck, Benilde twice, and Warroad, the other two they lost to the team that was the runners up: Hermantown and Totino- Grace(the horrors)........ Good win for Wadena, can't really say nothin' yet except that Wadena looks like they are improving, though I know nothing about DL as their town must not have any hockey fans or don't have the internet or something. I know they lost pretty good to ST paul, nothing to be proud of that's for sure....of course, we can't do that, now that Wadena has beaten DL and LF lost to them I guess that Wadena is better???oh yeah, that doesn't apply....... and one final thought: Fergus Falls doesn't really get embarrassed at state, I know that one year they got killed, but look at the history and their record then the teams they beat and their records. The difference in Fergus Falls and Wadena is that Fergus does not get shell shocked when they play Totino's or Breck, or Red Wing or any other big hockey name because they have always played those big names and are used to them, wadena plays Sauk Centre-Long Prarie-Grey Eagle, and Park Rapid-Walker-Nevis....just ponder it and think twice before you say that Fergus woudl have really been in trouble in St. Paul last year. Albert Lea???? if anything that team would've looked past them and lost a good one, or would've won and the tourney would've taken on a different look, I guess I am not supposed to say that either huh?????

old school i tend to agree with you on the better schedule getting a team ready for the big show. Wadena has added much better games this year. Remember great teams dont always want to put you on the schedule unless they think it will help them. The trip to the state helped that. And im not sure either why the dl fans arent on here. Im thinking the coach maybe put this site on the no no list for the players.Some times when you say somethings on here it ends up on locker room walls. I saw it in sauk centers wall a couple years ago, and i saw one of your post on the wadenas wall the other day. Fergus has little falls soon? That would be a game to see. Keep us posted

Wadena has stepped it up. Hopefully the Holiday tournament won't hurt our momentum. Postel is one of the best in the section and one of the smartest hockey players in the state. He rarely makes a mistake on the ice. I don't like mentioning names as it takes a team. In general Wadena has a nice mix of smart players and some good skilled players. It takes both types to win games. These kids have won all the way up.... why should they stop now. Look out LF and FF. All you other people who want to slam WDC and say our section sucks, We may not have all the resources you guys do but it sounds like we have more fun than you do. The wheels are starting to roll. Wadena has 3 productive lines and a hot, hot goaltender!

Boy, didn't know I had that much credit..getting on the wall of a locker room, pretty good, for someone who has never seen them play and al I've ever said was that they should play better than 4=1 loss to Kittson....... they did in the win over Detroit Lakes.....tonight Fergus Falls goes to Little Falls, the first solid knowledge we will have....

I just read this whole thread for the first time, and oldschools ramblings about Fergus seem far off to me. First off Fergus does not play DL 4 times. Why would they play one team 3 days in a row at a tournament. Are you comprehending that? THey play I believe Willmar, West Fargo and DL in that tournament. Fergus plays DL twice this year. I can't really see DL being that great this year but maybe they'll surprise me. I don't think Fergus has lost to them in over 2 years. JV and Varsity. I also watched that Fergus Vs. EGF game. Were you watching the same game as me? Both teams looked maybe average. And it wasn't a physical game at all untill overtime. Fergus had different lines out there the whole time. I never saw a set line. That also had to do with injuries. But don't get me wrong I think fergus will do very good this year. Possibly when the section if they get lines figured out. I talked to one of there players and they said if the play like they did against Shanley than LF will kill them. So kinda tells you what they thought of Shanley. But i think fergus will be the team to beat. THere Defensive Pairings alone should carry them through this section if they can contain LF's first line.

4-2 over a team that smashed the Flyer's kinda impressive!!! So come on someone admit that the defending section champs are for real and have a solid Chance for a back to back trip to st Paul. Or at least back to back trips the section final. The Flyer's are overrated and inexperienced. Come on Wadena has like 300 kids in their school and Fergus Falls has like 1000 kids. Any time a school that small beats a team that big its impressive. how has little Koonta looked this season.

puckswerestones, what did you see on sauk centre's wall...just curious...lf had an impressive win tonight, i'd heard from various people wadena had been more impressive than lf from what've they seen but tonight lf made a statement or did ff tank it? bad goaltending?....wadena fergus match will be interesting, regardless ff is still in the hunt and the big 3 (lf, ff, wadena) are much better than the rest of the section.....

Way to go Coach Cooch, Bobby Stark and the guys in the trenches. What a statement to make this early in the season. You've made yourself quite a target in 4A with a win like that, but make sure you stay dedicated to back it up come late February, early March to earn your first trip to St. Paul. If I was that Festler kid, I wouldn't cut my hair for three months as those locks obviously hold some magic in them. damn speed bumps always in the way. especialy that one west near dl. The one that stopped little falls 5-1. If they got beat with that speed bump fergus must of had a real bad game. thinking they will get even next time, oh by the way i didnt notice that speed bump by dl coming or going to the game

puckswerestones....would you ever consider that the little falls v. dl game was a bad one for the flyers?...one game doesn't make or break a team and obviously the flyers weren't ready to play against dl if they can come out and beat fergus like they did.

qwerty, yes and i agree games like that happen. Thats why they play the games. my comment was for an earlier post from someone stating wadena was just a speed bump for littlefalls on their way to state. They had a bad game at dl fergus played a bad one tonight. Wadena had one at kittson.I think this section is young and mistakes happen as the teams mature. I sure hope my home town wins sections but i know any of about 4 could. But a post claiming one team is a speed bump on the way to state needs to be reminded that they were a speed bump a week ago at dl. Sections will be well worth the ticket this year

The Flyers had a terrible game against DL remember they aren't even in section 4A so just forget about it. Little Falls was way too fast for FF last night they didn't have a chance and their goalie looked like swiss cheese. I look forward to an even bigger margin of victory against Wadena. Remember LF is way too fast to catch up to. So don't blink.

why should Wadena be the speed bump they just beat DL who smoked the Flyers. If anything the Flyers are speed bumps. Wadena had three power play gaols against DL. So if the flyer's get in the box Wadena will eat them alive. Its painfully clear that the Otters are not the same caliber team that Wadena or little falls are. The otter dynasty is dying and their nothing they can do about it. Stick a fork in the otters their done like dinner. (Wadena defending section 4a champs if you like it or not.)

Well, I'd imagined a 4-1-1 record after this weekend,.. I would've been perfectly happy with 3-2-1.....2-3-1, didn't dream it. Typical Otters.......... Hey, shut out....not clay..... I actually go on other websites , craigolsonsports said that they played them 3 times in their christmas tournement and didn't say a thing about West Fargo and WIllmar, I thought it was kinda weird too, but so it goes, if that makes me offbase then sobeit............. I never said that Fergus and EGF are awesome, I said that at that point in the season, that was a good game. fun to watch and showed promisse. I have no other excuses for the Little Falls game other than this is becoming more of a typical Otter Hockey Team than I thought it was. they played Lourdes tonight, I quit listening when it was 4-1 Lourdes late in the third, lourdes is 15th by the way so I think that the Little Falls game was a bit of a fluke. They apear to be trying to find a goalie, Junior Mike Vennerstrom played tonight and it sounds like he played good. At this point I am looking for Fergus to be the #2 team in the seciton, the winner of LF v Wadena should be one, unless Fergus beats Wadena and Wadena beats Little Falls. Fergus also plays Willmar in their tournement and if they win that one (their only other seciton game) on the above scenerio (i don't think it is that unrealistic) Fergus would have the shot to back into the #1 spot. This is turning out to be a typical Otter team, go .500 in the regular season, then in the post season beat teams that are very much favored over them. Just remember that last night and tonight is only Fergus 5th and 6th games early in the season. The first period in the Lourdes game was 0-0, 2-0 after two and early in the third it was 2-1.....this team has all of the ingredients to make it a go in a run for state, they just need to dig out of this early hole. Remember last year, Fergus started the year 5-1 or something, beating good teams, this year looks more typical in that they will improve through the season. Section 4 has changed, the only way that it has changed is that there are two other teams that are up to the Otters potential, instead of a step behind and these kids don't know quite how to handle it yet. I see it as a three dog race, possibly Willmar will do damage, but doesn't look good so far. I do believe that whoever comes out of this section will not get embarrassed this year at state as they are a lot better than last year, look for some exciting hockey in Alexandria in February, the Otters will be ready........ How'd Wadena fare this weekend, Fergus plays Fargo South on Tuesday.......... (Remember, Fergus Falls Otters, Section 4a champions 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000,2001,2002,and finally 2003).....
