Re: 4A predictions
that 17 - 4 win over the worst ranked team in state is pretty intimidating wadena...

Section 4
Fergus Falls 2, West Fargo 2...........nothing outstanding, West Fargo is getting tougher though and has had Fergus' number lately......
ALSO: Detroit Lakes 4, Willmar 3.............Tomarrow's game against Willmar will be very big, and we'll see how it goes..............

Re: 4A predictions
blades i hope you didnt read any bragging into the post about cia and wadena, your right cia is struggeling however the way they hussle fron start to finish and keep their sportsmanship, players and coaches while the games going bad i serious dought that any teams posting includeing ours would be that gracious and good sports about the love of the game! hell we all piss and moan when we lose by a goal and blame the refs. Keep up the heart cia you are an example on good sports we all could look up to.

Section 4
Fergus Falls 2, West Fargo 2..........Sumary

Looks like Fergus had all of the offense they could want, shots:Fergus Falls: 43, West Fargo, 22.......
Must have made a mistake or something, West Fargo's first goal, to go up 1-0, was short handed, Fergus put one in in the first and West Fargo scored again, scoreless second, and Shawn Goos scored the tieing goal with 10 seconds to go in the game. Shootout, no OT, TJ Gaustad and a WF player scored in the each of the teams' fourth attempts.......WF obviously had a hot goalie.......Fergus has now killed off 12 straight penalties......5 for 5 on the night. WIllmar tomarrow and DL on Thursday, this game could've been the championship instead of the usual Fergus Falls vs Detroit Lakes final game............

sportsmanship
stonesinyourhead- great reply 17 and 21 goals vs cia lets talk sportsmanship put your 3rd and 4th lines out on the ice you don't have to rally the score up, or maybe we need to get some pts. for the 1st liners. what comes around goes around.

Re: Section 4
Finally Fergus Falls will have some competition in 4a. The reason that they have been so succesful in the past is that there was no competition in the section until last year. Little Falls will have a real nice run until Alex drops down. Then 4a will have the big four of Alex, Little Falls, Fergus and Wadena. Add to the mix the next couple years, Central Lakes and yes, CIA. Its too bad that D.L and Park Rapids have to be in 8a but thats the MSHSL. Good Luck Flyers its your turn!

Re: sportsmanship
pucksbehindyou they did play there 3rd and 4th they scored alot of goals. Its hard to tell the kids that havent played but a few periods this year not to shoot. Some got their first goals of the year. I posted the results of this game under a different thread and just reported wadena wins by a few. Us talking now about the score is stupid. They have a ton of 8th 9th and 10th graders playing on that team and they will be better down the road and yes what goes around comes around just hope you and i have the guts to keep our sportsmanship in check when it does. I dought it!

WF vs. FF
The two goals scored by WF were both flukes. The 1st one, a shorthanded goal, was a puck that was cleared by WF and it bounced off of the ref into the middle of the ice right onto there stick and he put a low shot on and the rebound bounced right to another WF player and he put it in. The 2nd one was offsides by a good foot and they went in 2 on 1 and put it away. The shootout at the end of the game was exciting but anticlimactic because the shoddy ice around the goal made it hard for the players to put any good moves on. The best one I saw was from Mike Schwarz but the goalie made an INCREDIBLE save after being pulled way out of position.

Section 4
Fergus Falls 6, Willmar 1............no stats as of yet, at work all night, couldn't even listen in to Otter Hockey Rocks...................
Detroit Lakes 6, West Fargo 2................
Tomarrow, Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes square off for the championship again.........should be fun.......
As far as Alexandria going to 4a, is it set in stone???
doesn't matter anyway, I believe that the section will overall go to Fergus Falls, Willmar, Little Falls, Wadena, and Alexandria in no specific order and depending on the year.........should be a pretty balanced section. In my mind, no one has really gotten worse in the section, LF and Wadena just got better. Think about it. Teams in this area never get respect anyway, you just have to go and prove it in the tourney....as much as everyone in the section hates Fergus, they coudl learn a lot from the Otters......I ask you, how many sub .500 Otter teams went to state and took out at least one 15-20 win team??.........of the seven years, only two lost out, and only three were actual winning teams entering the sections....two of those three had formiddable records, the two best. there were six winning teams entering the state tournement but that is after three wins in sections. Now, only two of those four teams lost out. that means that 2 of those years, they beat a "much better team".......
The point is, who cares what the rest of the state says, in the state tournement, nothing matters. THose Otter teams proved that and it should be a lesson to any other team to take the section and still be considered sub-par coming into the state tournemt. A one above .500 Otter team beat a state ranked Mound team by a bunch, another close to .500 otter team got the school's first stae tournement victory over a favored Mahtomedi.....NO otter team was top ten in the LPH poll entering tourney play and they proved that they were good enough........4-1 loss to Oshie and the Warriors is still not bad.....Fergus led in that game.....a very underrated Otter team came within inches of a title game a few years ago after smoking highly rated I Falls and losing to #2 Totino after pounding the snot out of them the whole game.........enough rambling, whoever wins Section 4a this year WILL BE A GOOD TEAM...and WILL DO GOOD, Guarentee it........

Wilmar vs. FF
Matt Waclawick...enough said. This kid is unbelievable. He scored a hattrick and 2 of them, 1 for sure, was shorthand. The last goal he scored was the best goal I've ever seen a high schooler score period. He took it from his own blue line deked one D right onto his back @ the red line, and did the same to the other at the top of the circle. He then continued to make the goalie look completely foolish. It was unbelievable. He's got pretty good speed, dishes out big hits on kids twice his size and in case you haven't realized this already, he's got incredible moves.

OK, back to the game. FF dominated the whole game scoring 3 shorthanded goals and outshooting Wilmar 2 to 1. Eric Swenson had another good game in net, standing on his head for a few saves. DL vs. FF should be a good game, but was postponed this morning due to bad weather.

I'm done ranting now.

L. Falls & Jamestown
I heard that the championship game at Little Falls had a ton of penalties and was stopped with about 4 minutes left in the game. They tell me that team from Jamestown was as dirty as they get. Any details?

Re: jamestown
Jamestown was a very dirty team. They had 18 penalties throughout the game and the game ended with about 45 seconds left after one of their players tried to jump Festler.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil">

Re: jamestown
Did festler deserve it? Lots of penalties in the WDC vs Shandly game, and lots of wimpering in the stands too, almost made me sick to my stomach, lol. Nice to see my brother step it up and play better than what I expected. Also it looks like there is a better future in WDC for hockey, 70 kids in mites this year, thats a good chunk of potential talent. Now they need more dedicated coaches and they someday will be a force in section 4a.

warroadsalt
Ok right those mites are really going to help their high school team they need a little more talent than that.

fastice
warroadsalt is saying that Wadena's youth hockey program has big numbers now and has potential to (IN THE FUTURE) be a great team in section 4a!....think before you type something. I think we would all appreciate it.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Re: jamestown
Warroadsalt's comment asking if Festler deserved to get jumped is as dumb a statement as I've seen on this board. No kid deserves that especially a player who is just trying to play the game. I can't speak for all sections but a game like this would never take place in a 4A match up. LF's first and second lines were much to fast for Jamestown to handle and their players showed their frustration by taking cheap shots after the play the whole game. Their players and head coach should be ashamed of themselves for how they conducted themselves throughout the tournament. The three games Jamestown played accounted for a large number of injuries, broken wrists, separated shoulders, etc., and the penalties they racked up where huge. The refs and medical staff should get combat pay. Festler set the LFHS scoring record during the game which obviously irked the Jamestown kids.
