Re: Re:
i agree at this point its little falls. However was not that impressed with festler and lick as individuals However as a unit not forgeting the third player on that line, they are the best working line ive seen this year. Wadenas 1st struggles with out pettit. And the depth of wadenas team better be found soon,no legs left from the long praire game. 17 mun periods will be the weakness of this team from here on in. Curious why no jv game anyone know?

Re: Re:
once again I'm not trying to complain here but in the game vs DL, Fergus once again got ripped off. DL won 1-0 w/ their lone "goal" coming in the 2nd period. This "goal" went in through the back of the net. The net they had is bent or something and it slipped through and they counted it a goal. Swedburg, the Otters radio announcer, was standing right there and said it clearly went through the back, and I guess one of the Otters SM's videotaped it and it clearly shows it as well. And for a little icing on the cake, the DL Coach said it went under the back. Now I'm angry again...Gosh!

WDC
LF was ready to play last night. WDC was not.
Should have seen it coming from the Prarie Central game.
Hockey is a team sport, one guy will not make the difference unless everyone picks it up. LF is your daddy now.

basics
I think I have some constructive criticism on the WDC season. Not time to panic but time for changes. I played under Shelstad and Woods as an assistant.
I will go down the line on my opinions. If any of this makes sense maybe you can shoot this to your coach. I think the team may miss Davis more than they realize. Your line changes need some major improvement. I will refer to this as Peewee mind set. Having players skate into the next shift hurts both shifts. Very disorganized… was Davis doing this? Putting all your guns on the power play for 1:30 hurts the team. They become exhausted, and does not allow competition between your two power play lines. When its time to get off all of you go. Then you don’t have Rambo screwing up the next groups shift. Don’t think you are coaching your elementary kids…. If they screw up set them out a shift and put in a kid without screwing up your changes. If a forward continues to feed the defense ya gotta do something. I did like your new lines in light of #11. Tell… no make your centers draw the puck back… more pee wee mind set. You’re your getting killed on face offs cause the centers think they are going the distance. Last on the coaches, you need to settle down your skaters in tough times. They were scared to screw up in the first period. When times are tough that’s when you guys show your skills. They needed to be calmed down after 5 minutes of play last night. It was a great time for a time out.

Quickly to the players, when you are confronted with speed the little things are that much more important. Protect the puck…. Can’t say it enough. Getting the puck deep in the zone would have forced The less talented defense to handle the puck. You guys lost the puck at the blue line a lot. Got to lose the blind passes. Reward yourself by passing. When #11 Comes back he is just one player and before this sit out he held the puck too much. Hope this doesn’t make it worse. His wings need to pick up play or scrap that line. Two guys are not finding the handle on the puck really zaps your scoring chances. Second line handles the puck ok but needs more goals. Recognize when your partner will win the puck and get to the slot. Third line doing there best. Recognize when you have power on the ice and protect the puck. Did you notice how often LF just spun the puck at the net? Even if they could not get a blast away they flipped it at the goalie hoping for something good. That’s part of the reason the shots were so lopsided.
Got to get more shots. Again, this is my take on the season not just LF game.

Its only a game but you will miss it! Dig in and leave it on the ice.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o">

Re: WDC
hockey legends, alot of points made, some i disagree with, alot i agree. First line untill last night,23 goals, 28 assist,150 shots, second line 10 goals 14 assist 85 shots on goal. For playing time the third does well with 10 goals 14 assist and 57 shots on goal. Face offs for the year are over 50 percent won by all three.Last night was a tougher night for them im guessing. If you look at who defenses with what line im thinking maybe our offensive minded defense could show there stuff more playing with the second and third lines. The oppossing teams second and third lines would yeild 25 percent more points to these 2.Also 2 of the better puck handleing and physical sophm are are the bench as defensive back ups.Maybe 5 or 6 shifts between them. Both can play forewards as fill ins for tired players, or play on a regular line, So i agree with the not screwing up the lines when one player needs an extra rest. And last but not least, davis or not, all of our ideas,{arm chair coaching} doesnt replace the notion that we got beat by a better team, up and down the ice!

Re: basics
bottom line is that the wolverines need to pull their heads out of their you know whats. the past 2 games they have looked like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off, not trusting the system and staying at home. they are running around way too much. the problem a lot of the time is players stand and wait for someone to do all the work...its a team game for god sakes! pick it up wadena, or the rest of the season will be a long one. on a side note, festler and lickteig did not get many chances...but their second line was impressive. all lines for wadena were not impressive at all, gotta find somethin soon.

Good Point CLASSICELITE
Little Falls' second line is very impressive and very young they have lots of skills and work hard. Festler and Lickteig may not have got many chances but they make the most of them. The LF third line works very hard and hits hard. Getting shots on net is one thing that Coach Couture focuses on put a shot on net and anything can happen or pound so many holes in the tender that he turns into swiss cheese. Wadena is in the tank and Fergus doesn't have a chance.

Davis
Nice try on giving some advice hockeylegend, but mentioning missing Davis as a coach made anything you say totally useless. Any player who played under Terry knows he shouldn't have been there. All he did was yell and scream about nonsense, nobody listened to him, and he might as well have been a cone on the bench. For christ sake he didn't even PLAY hockey. Hagen is ten times the coach Davis ever could be.

As for Wadena's future this year, they play LF again, and hopefully they'll be ready this time, cause they certainly weren't last night. I think missing lil Pettit hurt the team more than people think. Because of his absence the lines are all messed up, and there was no chemistry between any of them except maybe the third line. I thought they could have done just as well as the first in last night's game.

Keep your head's up boys, don't take this loss too seriously. LF now thinks they have state in the bag, use that to your advantage. Good luck

THIS JUST IN THE FLYERS THIER GOOD
The flyers out played wadena all night long. Badly in the 1st and 3rd. Hats off to the flyers. They are the best team in the section by far.

Festler was contained for the most part but the flyers 2nd line ate Wadena alive. Hats off the them.

I think when lil Pettit returns they'll be able to make a game of it. But one kid wont make up 6 goals.

Even if Wadena doesn't win the section their season will still be a good one. Back to back conference titles is an accomplishments even in the mid state.

Wadena still has a good shot at the Otters and could get the #2 seed and still make a nice playoff run.

Can't wait to see the Otters should be fun.

4A
I know Wadena struggled against LF but the one individual I was impressed with was Wadena's goalie. He stopped quite a few 2 on 1 rushes and allot of tough shots. I know he had 6 goals scored against him but he did have a good game and if it wasn't for his efforts the score would have really ballooned. He just didn't get much help. I agree the Tues. Jan. 25 FF vs Wadena game will be interesting. I don't think this section is sewn up by any means. When you're dealing with high school age kids anything can happen. There is still allot of season left for everybody.

section 4
well, there you have it, Little Falls is the section 4a favorite for 2005...........Fergus Falls had another "dissapointing" game losing 1-0 to DL....and Little Falls smoked Wadena.
A few things to mention on DL vs FF though, I don't care if it is tiddlywinks, FF and DL is ALWAYS a close game.(an old Fergus coach) good rivalry for both schools and everyone seems to get up for the game......I think the DL goalie had a heck of a night too, hot goalie, hot defense, sounded a lot like the trap .......defense ahead of offense..............
Five hole, I know , I heard the game too and knowing the DL refs and how it is to play there it doesn't surprise me but I don't believe a team with as much potential as you guys have should've had a problem with a bs garbage goal, it should've made the score 5-1 instead of 5-0 not been the game winner. Fergus had better pick it up and find themselves or it will be another dissapointing season. In the Bergstrom days these mid season dissapointments were the norm but we'll see how Donoghue pulls it off, I have a feeling he has a few tricks up his sleaves. To me, these kids are in the usual attitude problem stage where they don't really as a group get up for games. my opinion.
A note on the weekend on the range, 41 saves for Swendson in Coleraine against Greenway, can I say WOW. I really thought that Wadena would have more for LF than that....really though, all it does is say, OK we have the #1 seed figured out, now, 2 and 3, whoever wins the Wadena v Fergus game should pick that up, then both should expect to meet eachother in the semi finals in Alexandria....... so it doesn't really matter........however, the dark horses of the section may surprise as Long Prarie showed the other night......

back at ya skills
Skills, I never said Davis was a good coach, I was wondering if he was doing the line changes last year.
Lot of confusion in last few games I watched. Although I never had Davis some people do think he brought something to the table unlike you. Sounds like #25 has some pent up feelings.... maybe thor should seek help since you are kinda negative on here the last few years.
You have slammed Davis before. I forgive you. Terry is a good guy and really helped young woods out. I agree Hagen is a very knowledgeable person.
One needs to keep in mind this board can hurt alot of peoples feelings... I try not to use peoples names unless its a complement.

Re: 4A
I think they should fire them all and get actual hockey coaches, not just some player from WDC from forever ago, who I might add played for Shelstad, who I might add was a freaking goaly who spent 15 minutes a day talking nonsence about oiley stools, true story. They need someone in there who knows the game, and knows what to do in key situations, not just some guys guessing, or at least take some classes to learn more about the game or something. Warroad #1 <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> Little Falls, dead last no goals <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> , if they make it, I bet they dont.

Small Falls & Barnyard
Are da Fliers ready to exact revenge on da Mighty Worriers in da Barnyard on 1-13 or are they wallowing in their big win over WDC?

da Worriers are stinging after a tough physical game against da Tiggers from da Cloud Town.

Look for da Worriers to "shake up" their lineup. This game will be closer than the last one at da Falls, but not much!

How cum da Falls lets dem good players from Pierce get away?

hockeylegend
hockeylegend you're absolutely right, I do have pent up feelings, and I don't hide them, very unhealthy. I'm not afraid to criticize, I hate talking behind people's backs, and if I hurt someone's feelings, or my reputation by saying what I think, I don't care, I'm a big boy, I can handle it.

As for me seeking help. Are you suggesting I need a therapist? Are you saying that I am not healthy mentally? Bold statement. Must not know me very well. You know me well enough to say I didn't contribute to the team though. Probably true in it's own sense, but wait a minute, did I play in every varsity period during my career, yep, if I wasn't hurt, and did I ever play hockey to make a name for myself, no, I played because I loved it, and still do. I was never a good offensive player, but I'd like to see you try getting past me one on one. Seems like you know who I am, why don't you give yourself away so I can poke fun at you. It's easy to do isn't it? When you know the other person doesn't know who you are.

Section 4a
skills, the guy probably has a grudge or something, come on give it man..........this board is all about opinions........dissagreements will happen, but don't trash a person personally for it.....give a solid argument and move on or keep fighting for the cause....
Brainerd 7, Little Falls 3..........or Little Falls in a heartbreaking close one.......
Fergus Falls is in Crookston on Friday...hopefully they can take the experience they have gained, learn how to put the game away and gain some consistency..I guess time will tell.......
shots on goal with DL: FF 22, DL 24........I think they (DL) has learned to try and overcome lackluster offense with a very defensive minded game....and the goalie was hot.............
even though Little Falls is the #1 seed in section four, the top three will still remain favorites...unless Fergus completely anhiilates Wadena, doesn't look like something I'd bet on......I
d say it will come down to Little Falls and either Wadena or Fergus and the winner will be the team that wants it the most..... a well coached team can easily shut down a few "stars" remember Merrickle???? or Fillipie, or whoever it was????? I would be willing to bet however that the next clash between either one of the former 4a champions and the longtime bridesmade will be a lot better game.....the target goes on Wadena, the hatred to Fergus Falls(for years to come I'm sure) and the favorite to Little Falls. This will still be the closest 4a tournement ever and finally the section champion will have REALLY earned something...(sorry, Wadena sure did earn it last year...).............what is Wadena and Little Falls doing this week, (end)????????????????????

clarification for skills
Last time on this subject for me. I am not trying to insult you just saying things on this board ought to be
constructive. I have plenty of baggage and skeltons. Just look at Warroadsalts remarks about firing the coaches. Go to state one year and your fired the next. Good call saltblock head... how many years we you in Wadsville.... Thats what I thought. Your getting it second hand. I have respect for all who play and coach... we have a lot of odds against us in a small town and most are doing the best they can. I Know
skills was a good defenseman and I will leave all this alone. If I insulted you skills.... it was not intentional.

Marshall game tonight despite the cold.
Will not answer you salt boy so save it <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> .

hockeylegend
When did you play for Shelstad? I think you have some good ideas for the team. Coach Woods definitetly needs to find a way to get more out of the players than they have given the last couple of games, with or without #11.

Re: Section 4a
LF probably having the #1 seed doesnt mean much of anything. We all know that once playoffs come around anything can happen. ...FF#2 WDC #3...

Re: clarification for skills
You must be retarded, how would I know about Shelstad talking about oiley stools, duh, I was at practice that day, oh yeah which meant I was on the team for 2 years, but moved my senior year. So I know what kind of coach he was, I remember specific times having him tell me I was playing too physical, what were we playing girls hockey or something, my sophomore year and junior year I had a total of 12 penalty minutes, so that wasnt an issue. Also I played in every period of every game, other than overtimes my sophomore year. Woods had great talent on that team last year,, thats why he went to state, and all they proved down there was that they were guessing how to play. Look what those kids did their bantams years, with a quality coach they beat every single a team they played that year, except Warroad. Another thing, I saw woods throw a players stick over the glass at an adult game because he was mad that he was getting hooked, what an stupid hockey player, rubs off on his coaching a bit. Just wish they would play smarter hockey there, even if it is the same coaches, it would just be nice to hear.

wadena
Wadena had another ugly game offensively but was able to fight their way back into it 3-3 tie against Marshal.

Sense coach woods became head coach here in Wadsvill the wolverines have had 51 wins 26 losses and 6 ties.
He's won the mid state conference and took old Wadsvill to state. He's also well on his way to winning another mid state title.

I believe you are as good as your record and i don't see a problem with his.

Old Wadsvill is in a little rut right now but he'll find a way to pull us out.

Re: Section 4a
yeah, its really hard to have a good record playing crap teams all year long. We had a damn good record in 99 and 00, didnt mean a thing. If your record is good and you are playing quality teams, then you can go by that resoning. Also this years record isnt good at all, and they are still playing crap teams, so what do you have to say about that. Am I correct, they are having a loosing season so far, or do they have more wins then loses?
