4A predictions
Re: Fergus vs Wadena
Big night tonight for Fergus and Wadena. My prediction is Fergus 3-2 over Wadena withshots being equal. Fergus' D is too tough for Wadena's offense but on the other hand, Wadena's D is tough enough for Fegus' offense. Really defensive game in my mind and I think it comes down to which goalie plays better.

Re: Pequot
The biggest plus from a skills standpont for pequot is that they on average 25- 30 skaters per level, so there is plenty of icetime to be had. Their overall numbers are ok, but they don't seem to be growing. The thing that has hurt them and will continue to, is that they have lost some kids to other associations. One reason is that they have a few kids with above average ability, and they desire to play "A" hockey. All teams there right now are at the "B" level. It happened at their bantam level this year and I have heard that there are a few looking at the possible move next year in the PeeWee and Squirt levels.

WDC-FF
WDC defeats Fergus Falls 4-3 in Fergus. Cooney with the game winner with little over a minute left. Pettit, Wolden and Postell also had goals. It is the first win for WDC in Fergus, ever.

Nice Game, Wads
Should be a good confidence builder for Deer Creek and koonta. Will it matter in early March when Coach Couture and the Flyers are spanking them en route to their first ever Tourney berth? Only time will tell, but WDC is picking up steam - proceed with caution Flyers.

Re: wadena
Exciting game to watch. WDC player was taken off on a stretcher, clean hit but was pretty scary. Reffing was consistent...consistently bad both ways. Both teams should've had penalty shots. Clockwork was shoddy. The guy was struggling w/ it all night. In the end Fergus was killed by their inability to stay out of the box. 5 on 5 FF dominated. Shots were 31 to 23 i think, in favor of FF. WDC player knocked the net off w/ about a min left on a great opportunity to tie it up.

Well, that should light a fire under FF @$$ for the coming weeks.

Sauk Rapids 4 Little Falls 1

LF came out flat and got behind 0-3 the first period and never recovered. Sauk Rapids was a much improved team and their win over Brainerd was obviously no fluke. Good wake up call for LF.

wadena line changes
right now with the second liner Murray is out for awhile, wadena needs some changes at offense
and with the third line PLEASE BAN ME footing around like they do is unreal, them giving pucks away when their about to get hit cost wadena a big goal in this one against Fergus, and also several prior to this game.
you have the biggest most aggressive sophomores sitting on the bench because there back up defense men and never play.
put those at forward on the third line with jelinek, then you'll have the strongest third line in section four, better then watching talent waste away on the bench.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

Re: wadena
fivehole i agree with most of your assesment of this game with exception 1 that hit was a nasty cross check that warrented a 5 and a game.The tape will be on the wadena web site in a few days and youll see the shot it was. No place in the game for stick checks on the back or lower neck area like that. I dont think he ment to do that much damage but his size compared to number 5's made it worse.The second point i disagree with is fergus did not dominate in the 5 on 5 area i might say they had an edge{they were home team}but did not dominate. I figure now the argument on who the best d man in section 4 should be settled. Postel schooled fergus d and forwards all night as he did in the little falls game and every other team he faces.And its rare anyone gets one with him on the ice.Fergus team d is impressive and the goalie is good. I like the forcheck keeping one forward up real high to help in nuetral. Wadena could use that one from time to time{like when they have a lead}

Good reviews by all
Got to agree that it's time to bring up sophomore #20 and
start using him. WDC future lack of depth warrants it as well
as current situation. Both sophs in discussion have good size and speed... I think #20 can handle puck well. Put him on a wing and see what happens. The Ref's were brutal both ways last night. No doubt that was a penalty on Murray who had a cat scan done last night. Kid was going in and out of conscienceness last night. The ref was looking directly at him but was scared to make the call, no brainer zebra. Where were these guys from? Agree with puckswerestones, Postel
rock solid, and first year of defense! Good game by both teams. Of course I get one or two critics, WDC is having trouble standing still in the first period and making blind passes. Speed will bury you early if you do that. Defense played good and wings did a better job passing in periods 2-3. Big win guys, next step Benson/Morris.

Murray hit
I still don't think it was a dirty shot. He got him in the chest, he stumbled a few steps backwards, and hit the back of his head on the ridge around the boards. Maybe I saw it wrong, but that is the way I saw it.

Giving up 3 goals doesn't mean by any stretch of the imagination equate into dominating defense. In the 2nd goal, which I think Shaun Goos scored, he walked through 2 guys and went right to the net and shelved it. Not dominating. Fergus' D didn't do that great either. Especially on the PP goal by #13. Walked through everybody. He's a nice player. Pettit on the otherhand is extremely overrated.

It seemed like WDC was scared going into the corners w/ FF as well. Shying away from hits and such.

Re: wadena
fivehole my post about wadenas defense was saying that i thought postel{13] in my opinion is the top d man in the section this year, goos didnt go around him. I wasnt claiming that the defense as a whole was tops, i was however saying that fergus's defensive system is impressive, all 5 play hard in the d zone. Also agree on the shyness in the corners for a few of wadenas forwards. others hit the boards hard.I suspect wadena and fergus will see each other again in first round in alex, this time wadena might have line change advantage.

4A
Man if Postel schooled LF in their last game I'm sure the LF players would be more than willing to sign up for another one of those classes. Getting beat by six goals isn't much of a lesson. Postel is a good kid and a nice player but I think LF's defenseman Jim Pender is a more complete player and much more effective than Postel and as far as the corners go he owns them. Nice win for Wadena and hope their injured player is back on the ice soon.

Re: re:
Who cares what team comes out of section 4a they have no chance and more than likely NEVER WILL! Thats why all the hype is on who will win the section and not state. Start thinking about that and maybe the programs will step up. You shouldn't even call the team the section champ its more like the sections sacrificial lamb. Who's going to state to get drubbed. What Minnesota hockey really needs to do is divide the sections up better so we have 16 quality teams every year so its actually fun to watch the games. Nobody wants to see these teams where half the kids on the team have trouble skating is that Minnesota hockey at its best in the state tournament!

Sounds like this loser should stick something he knows about. Like the Roseau PeeWee team. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

The excuses are pilling up for the Otters. Shady clock work, Peneltys, net got knocked off, blah blah blah....

Postel walked all over the Otters all game. End to end style. No one touched him. Even on 103.3 they said the Otters could'nt touch him. So much for that tough physical Otter team.

Pettit is not over rated at all hes probably the 3rd best player in the section. Behind Festlers and Postel. Hands down the best sophomore. If the Pettits still played High school hockey for the Otters this kid would lead them in points and minutes played. Just like Travis would have last year.
Sounds like the Otter fans our just a little jealous.

I hope Murray is OK. I didn't see the hit but will take a look at it. Wadena should move The younger wolden up to the second line as a wing to replace Murray. Then just run two lines.

Postel
Postel's a nice player, but saying he walked all over the otters is a bit of a stretch. He took it end to end twice, both on powerplays, and scored on one of them. That's about it. Pettit didn't do very much either. That Henry kid though, is a big one. Looks about as solid as they come. Didn't look like he could do anything w/ the puck though.

Re: sncbc
Ok, so Postel can skate end for end, and go around everyone. But could he, in a race, skate from one end to the other carrying a puck, and do it faster than 4 people passing the puck from one to another, no he couldnt. Maybe he should learn how to pass, hes not a one man team. There is no I in team, but there is one in "loosing" and thats what might happen if they dont stop trying to "school" people 1 on 5 all the time, and start passing the puck and playing to their TEAM potential. I wasnt at the game, but the one I saw, where they one by like 6 goals, and in a game like that you would expect to see good clean passes and sharpness as a team, I did not see. But its kick a$$ that they one for the first time in Furgus ever, I think we beat Red Lake Falls for the first time in like 9 years when I played, and that was a very emotional game ending, and now Red Lake Falls sucks, weird. So congrats with all my heart to a great win in Furgus for WDC

Re: sncbc
hey jigs you only have to ask a few of the falls players what they do to control postel. Looks like the plan that night was sending 3 players at him on every touch he had. For your number 2 none of our players remember him excpt the back flip he did when wolden hit him.your forwards scare the hell out of us but not your d. But looking at this post makes it sound like i didnt notice his talents,i did he is a good player but not in the league with postel.

Re: 4A
I guess its a matter of opinion on who the better defenseman is and which team your pulling for obviously has something to do with it. Both Postel and Pender are different types of players and both effective. As far as the LF defense goes its hard to make a legit argument that they're all solid. A couple of them would be better off watching than playing. Different subject but how is the Wadena kid doing that was hurt in the Fergus game?

cool you asked jiggs good to see people careing, last report hes going to be alright, head and neck maybe shoulder trama out for awhile. really to bad it had to happen great kid! His brother was the murry that played so well for wadena last year and got a ton of points, great kids

wadena
I dont want Postel to play any differently. When ever he wants to go end to end he should. As they say, "If it aint broke don't fix it ". If no one can even get a hand on him why change it? He scores a lot of goals for Wadena like that. He needs to score for Wadsvill if they want to go any where.

Because of the injury to #5 the Wolverines will have shuffled their lines a bit. I believe #9 will replace #5 on the second line and #19 will fill the gap on the third line.

#9 has something like 10 points this season.
(according to MSHSL)

I think he has a little offensive spark in him and i think he can really bring something to the table. But he will have to learn how to not turn it over in the defensive end.

Don't know much about #19. Does anyone know how hes played in JV or what his JV #s are or Wadena's JV record at all? How are they doing this year?

Don't know much about the JV team this year.
