section 4

Post by oldschool »

All I got from Theif River Falls was TRF shots: 20.....score TRF 3 FF 2, Theif River Falls had a 1-0, and 2-1 lead but never lead by more than a goal as Fergus kept tying it up. Game winner came in second period.....
Two goalies, Swendson started, Kalar ended game......
Also heard: Mic Johnson got tossed, anyone know anything????? I guess he got territorial about the TRF kid and Kalar.......the ref had to pull Johnson off the TRF kid.........nice game, still a loss, but kind of a confidence thing going into sections, these kids seem to be playing really tough lately and aren't letting people push them around.........Regular season record: 8-10-4.........against Benson Morris on Tuesday..............hope to see Wadena v Fergus in Semi's second year in a row......

TRF vs FF

Post by shot003 »

game went pretty good from what I heard. Fergus sustained more injuries. Gonna be hurting because Shawn Goos went down with a shoulder injury. Possibly the same injury that held Laplonte out for several weeks. Mic Johnson got kicked out of the fargo North game. Hence he had to sit this game. Pretty good of a captain though. Try to punch some kid out in an overtime game and get kicked out. But hey he only had four penalties in that game. What a joke. Fergus needs him to play not sit on the bench. TJ gaustad got hurt again too. Fergus played with I believe 3 defenseman alot of the game. Sure hope they can get past this section. Everyone should experience the state tournament at least once. One of my favorite high school memories. Good luck otters.

I hope their injuries aren't too serious. Nobody wants them on the sidelines in playoffs. I'm sure they will tough it out if at all possible. What the injury report from around 4A? Anything worth mentioning? Good Luck to all!

goos is out indefinately. heard the doc hasn't given a date as to when goos can start playing again. that's a tuff one for the otters.

LF & FF 'pick-em"

Post by kranky »

'salt, I tend to agree with you on this. Fungus Balls has had more "Heavyweight Bouts" then anyone else in this section. If they meet Small Falls in the finals and they're not "punch-drunk" they can make-em fold if they play physical hockey.

If W-DC gets to the finals, I like the Flyers chances.

This is only as long as Small Falls doesn't slip along the way to the finals. Strange things happen this time of year!

Hey Prairie Center, who gets to host your game Tuesday, Long Prairie or Sauk Centre?

fastice again the biggest hit of the night was your number 2 hitting the ice. Hes a big boy and had some decent hits but is no intimidating player. Our 2 hit him so hard it took him 3 days to get up, get his helmet on and get what day it was correct, jiggs your call on wadenas 2 lines is absolutely correct. they will not ever win small falls with 2 lines. May or may not figure that out by that time. I mentioned this earlier that some players are avoiding hitting the corners and wadena has a 220 soph. on the bench and a tough freshman that wont back down have them play wings and save some energy for the top 2 lines. Oh well not my call, should be a fun week of hockey and hope no matter who wins section 4a we all pull together and cheer them on at state!!!!!!!!

Puck you can bet LF #2 got some ribbing from his teammates, he dosen't't have to dust his backside off very often. (Sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windshield.) If I recall your #2 was staring at the ceiling a few times himself along with a few of his fellow players thanks to LF #2 . It was funny though. I agree it should be a fun week for fans of 4A. Is everybody healthy, I heard FF had some injuries to contend with.

flyers to state

Post by grinder182 »

just a little note of confidence for the flyers. they are getting back on track just in time and i feel that the only thing in their way is themselves. No ff or wadsville will not beat them if it comes down to talent. if lf comes to play it is all theirs and i believe it will be and i will be at the section games as well as at state. go flyers lets prove the doubters wrong and start a tradition.

Not to put the cart in front of the horse, but just taking a sneak peek into the future. I saw at LF parents nite that they will lose about 6-7 seniors this year but have fair talent moving up. WDC loses about the same. How about FF & Willmar? Just trying to get an idea whats in store for next year<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> . Should be a couple games worth watching tommorrow nite, PC-Will & MB-FF. Shouldn't be a problem for FF but sometimes those injuries can throw their lines off just enough. Any updates there oldschool? LF have the week off for sure?

Fergus Falls

Post by hockeyfan05 »

About the FF vs. TRF game, the otters played w/out both their Captains because Mic Johnson was kicked out the game before, and Jake Sjolie was out with the flu. Also they played most the game without Goos and Gaustad which shows when the Fergus team gets all their players back for playoffs they will without a doubt be able to beat any team in this section and make some noise up at state. My money would be on Fergus vs. LF in the section finals with fergus comming out on top. Good luck to all and look forward to watching some good hockey this week.

Very True

Post by fastice16 »

Lf will be losing seven seniors next year but it doesn't matter because the talent coming up in the next few years will be just as good if not better. Our Bantam A's just took second in the district 15 touney behind none other than Moorhead. As for you puckswerestones I have nothin to say to you, cause you are blinder than my 15 year old dog, well maybe I do. Yes Pender got crushed but if you can dish it out you got to take it. I saw more Wadena players on the ice than Lf players. Once Petit started getting hit in the second period he folded and started taking stupid shots good luck to all in sections

So what time does all the fun start on Friday in Alex for those of us lucky enough to make it. And Who would play first assuming the top seeds make it?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... cknload at: 2/14/05 11:47 am

If i remember correctly, I believe that Little Falls will most likely play Willmar at 5:00pm, and Wadena will play Fergus Falls if there is not upsets at 8:00 on Friday night. Hope my info is correct and that this answers your question.

fastice in human years to dog years that 15 year dog and i are about the same age{notice my name on here} Ive coached im guessing 10 years longer than youve been alive, and your team will not be better for at least 2 years.Good but not better,Your bantam strenght is first year bantams that makes them 8th graders, {and man are they ever a great bunch} i also see more in a period than most coaches see in a game like your defensemen lining up in nuetral as wings, wings as defense for the quick outside rush{didnt win enough face offs to get a break off it but it will if wadena doesnt sneek that side defensemen in to that lane{created by defense blocking in on the wing} and create their own break away, and if either of the big 2 figure out that falls doesnt score{as much} against a 4 deep defensive zone {center on points} aka dl and sartell and rumured brainard, could be a tough game for lf to win if they have to score from the points.opps ive said to much aready, anyways i"m now convinced your team defense isnt the best in the section but far better than the first time ive seen them good luck this week! oh yeah jiggs i love the bug or the windsheild thing that is so true!

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> I guess im not the only one that saw that!! Any team that picks up on that will take away alot of offence for L.Fs !!
One thing I was wondering , why was there a big break after the Zamboni got done between the 2nd and the 3rd ? I was told that they put extra water down so it took longer to freeze over , giving L.Fs a longer break that they wanted , is that true ? Another thing , thats to bad for C/I seniors that won't get to play their last game !! Even if they lose bad , its still their last game !! Hope those teachers are proud of themselves !!!!

See you all in Alex, Flagmanonice

Anybody see the possibility of an upset in the first round of 4A playoffs ? I'm picking Prairie Center over Willmar mainly because I don't want to see LF play them again. I think Willmar is alot better than their record they just don't have anybody that can score on a consistent basis. ( How did those guys lose all those games?) FF has to play without a few key players, any chance Morris Benson makes a game of it?

Hey fastice, let's just humor the old fossil and listen to what he says. After all, when you're older than dirt, you've probably picked up a few things along the way that you can pass on to others. Really, Puckswerestones is a throwback to early 70's. You know how some people never change their hair style no matter how old they get? Well Pucks is the only guy I know that wears a white Afro<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> ! Relax Puck, just gettin my digs in when I can. Tell ya what, I'll buy ya a cup of coffee at the game [it'll wash down the Geritol]<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> . Yeah Flagman, it is too bad for the CIA players, especially the Seniors. Granted they don't have a great team, but I'm sure they love the game of hockey as much as anyone else and would love to play one more. You never really want it to end. And how about their other sports? Their wrestlers are in tournaments right now too. I know they send at least 1 or 2 guys down to state each year. Wouldn't that bite to be a senior and have that chance taken away from you<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> ? Oh well, not much we can do but talk about it. Good Luck tonite guys! I'm sure there will be an upset somewhere. Who's gonna get it?

thanks lock saying im from the 70s. They had rubber pucks then. And congrats to falls bantams beating alex for that 2nd region spot. Maybe old schools right about them coming to 4a and not doing any better than in double a. Willmar is 5th seed and praire center is 4th. Thats the only upset i see in the first round, Wadena by 5 , fergus by 4. Fergus must be on thier game to get the trf game as close as they did or section 8 isnt as far above as we thought{Exception warroad}. Friday night will be a bargain night in hockey 2 great games for the price of one. If Willmar stays out of the box against little falls like they did last week itll be a good game again. wadena and fergus could go in any direction by a goal or a few. Cia"s leadership at the adult level should be horse whipped for not letting the kids finish all thier sports seasons. The union sure will get the public behind them if they need a referendum with that stunt!

section 4

Post by oldschool »

The only one guarenteed not to get upset is Little Falls..
Morris benson took Fergus to OT last year...of course Fergus is much improved and in missing some key players against Theif, they damn near won. Sauke Centre is the 4 seed so if they win that will not be an upset, though, I think that either have a chance at knocking off Little Falls, I am all for Prarie Centre............Pequote Lakes not two weeks ago lost only what 3-0...to Wadena, their opponent tonight, should be interesting.........Fergus by 6, Wadena by 5 tonight, Prarie Centre wins tonight and gives Little Falls a good one on Friday..............I don't care who you are, if a senior defenseman sees fit to beat on a player in OT, then it probably was a good reason, got kicked out, big deal, look what the Otters did without him.......maybe the underclassmen should take notice and step it up and remember that for their otter years, you see, these seniors know what it was like playing Otter Hockey with Axell, Glas, Miller, Kantrude, etc....and are trying to say something if they know it or not...looks like they are almost peaking at the right time.......good luck to all.....

Wadena is a lock tonight.
