warroad vs class AA
would warroad stand any chance in class AA?

Re: warroad vs class AA
The top 6or 8 teams in A could compete in AA after that, talent drops off drastically. SO to answer your question, yes. There are plenty of AA teams out there that can't compete at the AA level, but still do.

Re: warroad vs class AA
Warroad could definatly compete with AA they beat a ton of great AA teams. They even tied Moorhead. I dont think they would win state and be as dominent playing class AA teams all the time. But they would be a great fit for AA. Any talk about them switching?
The curse lives on.....

Re: warroad vs class AA
Warroad did play some AA teams this year and did well. However, that involves a lot of travelling much like what Roseau has to do. There was a little article in the GF Herald a couple days ago too...declining enrollment!!! 21 jobs are being laid off - 11 are teachers and a few bus drivers. The senior class was 117 (I think it said) and the kindergarden class is only 70.
So I'm not sure that a move to AA would be a wise choice for the school at this point.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... rvinboy at: 3/9/05 2:23 pm

Re: warroad vs class AA
Warroad would win most games against AA only competition, but its tougher not being able to take some nights off. I doubt they would go undefeated.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... 14>Neutron 14 at: 3/9/05 2:35 pm

Re: warroad vs class AA
well of course warroad wouldnt go undefeated, thats hard to do in any class, but they wouldnt do that bad at all in double a, but the traveling would definitly take a toll

Re: warroad vs class AA
How convienient for Warroad to be cutting postions this year. I'm sure Mr.Oshie who was brought in to teach Indian studies is on the chopping block now that his son is done playing at Warroad. We will now never know if he would have been cut if their enrollment would have been up. I would bet my left hand even if their enrollment would stay the same he would have been let go. now we will never know

Re: warroad vs class AA
Warroad could definitely compete in AA. I don't see why not. People think AA is so much better than A and I don't get it. Yeah, probably a little bit more of a challenge especially maintaining the undefeated record, but it would still not be that much harder.

Re: warroad vs class AA
agreed gracehockey had the AA elitist's ventured out to see Totinno and Warroad Saturday afternoon they would have hands down seen the best game of the tournament and believe me that is not a knock on the other games. You kids deserved a full house.

Re: warroad vs class AA
I think that Warroad could of competed in AA the last few years, but i don't think they will be as good next year as they have been lately. Then when Chumley was in A peewee they only lost to them by one goal so that shows u what they have coming up.

Re: warroad vs class AA
pse44 are you nuts? Tim Oshie has been doing every little job around town just to make enough money to stay. Its not like he came into Warroad and was given a million dollars. He has been putting on a DJ service, basketball coaching, hockey coaching, the man does more in one day then most do in 3 days. As far as the school job goes face it, Mike Marvin cant hand out those kinds of jobs, Henry Boucha is the one who steped down so Tim could have that job, and thats family so who are you to complain?

Re: warroad vs class AA
I agree with ya, Warroad11. Also, maybe before makingcomments that Mr. Oshie's on the chopping block, you should have him in class. he not only does TONS of stuff around the community, but he runs a triple-teaching career ON TOP of coaching. Osh teaches indian ed., helping some Native American students adapt to expectations that weren't shown to them before, he teaches Native American Arts, which is also like a history class, AND he's a teaching assistant that SERIOUSLY keeps everyone's interest in the most BORING classes EVER. Next time, think and possibly EXPERIENCE before you make comments like that.

Re: warroad vs class AA
First of all I never said he was a bad teacher and didn't work hard or do his job. All I said was if he is one of the teachers that is let go in the next few months we will never know if it was because of the budget or because his duties are no longer needed since TJ is gone. Also if you say that he works 3 jobs to make ends meet then he isn't costing the district a whole lot of money and maybe they should keep him on staff because he is such a wonderful teacher and doesn't cost them much to keep around. But we will have to wait and see what happens, but if I know how warroad works and I think that i do because i've seen it many times before, Mr Oshie will be looking for a new job in a few months. I may be wrong but i doubt it.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... 4>pse44 at: 3/9/05 6:59 pm

Re: warroad vs class AA
Let me set the record straight on Oshie for your dumb asses. Tim came to town without a job. The Warroad school had a Indian ED position held by a female {not Boucha} She moved out to Colorado on short notice and Tim was in the right place at the right time and was offered the job. The job is Tim's next year if he stays. GOT IT. Tim has been a asset to Warroad's Indian community and can stay if he wants. Someone said that Tim has taken on many jobs while living here and that is True. ANY QUESTIONS?
Pardon the French Lee.

Re: warroad vs class AA
Everyone knows Warroad is a class AA team playing in the Class A tournanment. They talk about cost of playing, but I know they traveled as much as any AA team in the north and probably spent more this year than in past years.

Re: warroad vs class AA
You people amaze me. First of all Tim isn't a teacher. He works with Indian student through the Indian Ed Dept. The funds come through Indian Ed grant money, not out of Education dollars. Tim can stay if he wants or move on.
Warroad is not cutting 20 teachers, more like 10 to 13. The warroad team spend less this year than last year on hockey. Roseau can talk about A or AA, but the fact remains that they could NEVER make it to the dance as a class A school.
I can never figure out way people have a big problem with Warroad being a class school. Why not bitch about Stephen/Argyle playing 9 man football. Makes about as much sense.

Thank you Salol, I've been waiting for someone to make an analogy like that. You don't hear anyone else bitching about the 4 and 5 class systems that other sports use. To them a State championship is a State Championship...blah I hate this argument.

Re: warroad vs class AA
This is not aslam on Warroad, but the fact remains they never had much success at the all school level. They never won a state tournament until the split, so they don't know the experience of winning the whole shooting match. They are a small school, but probably do belong in the AA field. When your class A state tournament record is something like 25-3, it shows you are probably in the wrong class. They do get lots of exposure being in class A and that surely isn't a bad thing. With declining enrollment, it is going to be hard for all small rural areas to maintain programs and if Warroad is happy in A, then they should stay in A. I like how Roseau had to be brought up in this. Sure we didn't get to a class A state tournament, but you fail to mention that we won the big show in '90 and '99. Face it people , the high school league ruined the best tournament on the planet and things will never be the same!

Re: WARROD VS CLASS AA
I think Warroad could easily play in class AA. The problem is that they could have done it this year, but in years past, they might not have been able to suit up a team with enough talent to play at that level.

Re: WARROD VS CLASS AA
Warroad will always have the talent to play AA. Its because they won't have the talent to win 90% of their games is why they stay Class A. They refuse to play up, even when they have great teams, and then claim to be "The Best Team in the State". No props from me....
