Where's the common courtesy Moorhead?
Cant Blame The School
You can't blame the Moorhead students or the town itself, they arn't the ones who employ the workers. Some of the workers are volunteers.

Re: Old school
mnhkyfan stated "We'll see how many seats Centennial saves for Moorhead next year". If they do play at centennial next year, i'm sure there will be seats saved for moorhead, because the athletic director, head coach and arena manager are not "richards" like those in charge in moorhead seem to be.

Don't Blame Moorhead
All you have to do is show up at 6.30 and you have a seat. The Centennial arena is so small you could show up at 3 hrs before the game and may not have a seat. This is pathetic. Whining once again from the cities.

Re: Old school
I think Gunslinger is right on. This is not reserved seat hockey. You get into the rink, and stay there. The High School league places a high importance on staying alcohol free in the building. Once you're in, you're in. Had a chance to see Warroad and Moorhead at the Sports Center, and to have a seat had to sit through a fair portion of the girls' game. Not a choice I would have made, but one I was willing to in order to have seats for the boys game. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

The communication between the AD's is a whole different point. If Centennial reserved seats for Moorhead, the same level of respect should have been shown in return, even if that meant standing at the glass. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Re: Examples please.........by SS
Should tickets have been held? Absolutely. Is it a reasonable request? Sure it is. Is it logically possible at an arena that doesnt have a reserved seating or an advanced ticket system? Deffinately not. If you want to sit where you want at any Spuds game showing up no later than the first period of the JV game is advisable. Almost every game that Moorhead has at home is standing room only, especially with the season winding down and quality opponents coming up to play. So maybe this should be the warning to everyone out there: If you are coming to Moorhead to play the Spuds, be at the arena at least an hour and a half before scheduled varsity game time. Oh and the south end of the building is generally the visitors side but feel free to sit anywhere but the north east end last 3 sections as that is the student section.

To all concerned:
You will get no argument from the Centennial fans that their arena is pathetic. They are acutely aware. As luck would have it, the success of their high school team coincides with failed school referendums and budget cuts.

Re: Cant Blame The School
I arrived at 6:45 and barely found a single seat to sit in, but I did get in... I don't know what time they stopped selling tickets but you had to know that they weren't holding tickets aside, and for the caliber of this game you should maybe be AT LEAST a half hour early. It was a hot ticket to have everybody knew this before the game. As it was talked about on here repeatedly. It's true Moorhead could have shown you the same courtesy you showed them, but they didn't but it wasn't like they were turning away centennial fans and not moorhead you know how long the drive takes, plan ahead. If I made that long of a trip I'd want to see JV and Varsity. With enough die hards you had the the same opportunity and potential to fill the building with more Cougar fans than spud fans it was down to first come first serve. If you got there and had a seat knowing your seat would not be saved why would you risk your seat to get a bite to eat...they had pizza at the game. it doesn't make much sense. I'd starve to make sure I saw this game.

One last thing There was at least 200 Cougar fans at the game and most of them were there before I was. What's the beef? really? Or did you just want to take a shot at the Spuds for putting five of theirs past Weston? When something like this happens don't cry about it on here. Next year don't hold tickets aside for Spud fans... It's that simple<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... smokin.gif ALT=":smokin">

Doesn't anyone understand?
It's really simple, you have a arena that holds let's say 1,000 including standing room, you start selling tickets, once the 1,000 are gone, that's it.

If he bought his ticket, he should be able to go eat and come back, he understands that he might not get a seat, but, he should be allowed admission.

Re: Doesn't anyone understand?
I forgot to mention... that's exactly what Moorhead has and always will do. If you paid, were in, and then left the Arena they stamp your at the same door they let you in at to allow re-admission... if anybody was told differently by an employee there it was a lie and they should be fired. I know they were stamping on Saturday because I had a friend save my seat so I could run out to my car and get my cell phone five minutes before the puck dropped. Did you ask the people at the door? because that is ridiculous

I think this whole thread is ridiculous..... Just show up early sit down and enjoy the JV game! End of story!

Maybe some of the cougar fans had to go wash the Jag before the game, and needed to get out? GEEESH!

-The Slinger <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Re: Doesn't anyone understand?
I read something in the earlier part of this thread about the Fire Marshall. I'm sure that there is a maximum number of people allowed in the building. Since there is, the arena COULD hold some tickets until a certain time designated for Centennial fans, then sell to the general public after that time has passed. Its not a very complicated issue. I know absolutely nothing about Moorhead fans or their arena, but from reading this thread as well as a few others, I'd say the Moorhead fans are really stuck on themselves and the team.
I read in a lot of posts about "The Cities" teams being rich boys, cake-eaters etc. Seems Moorhead fans really have a chip on their shoulders for some reason.
There are a lot of registered members of this board who have opinions that are not from the Cities and work thier A** off to have their kids to play High School Hockey. Our youth hockey association pays the entire bill for our kids to play High School hockey.

Re: Doesn't anyone understand?
Do Centennial fans want everything handed to them on a silver platter? If i remember correctly Moorhead fans weren't able to leave the building either without the risk of not getting back in. And also, if i remember correctly, even the Moorhead fans with season passes weren't guarenteed getting into the building. I had family member showing up to the game after 7 and got in with no problem. If you have a problem with showing up the the biggest regular season hockey game less than a half an hour early then you have another problem. Sounds like since we can't whine about how the Spuds dominated the game we have to find something else to whine about.

Re: Doesn't anyone understand?
Nice first post! But what does any of it have to do with centennial fans expecting reciprocal treatment that they provided Moorhead the prior year?
Let me bow to your great team! they kicked our butt!! we didn't belong in the same building with their greatness! Good Heavens! It had nothing to do with the game!

Quote:
We replied that we had already purchased a ticket. "Doesn't matter, if season ticket holders start coming, you might not get back in."

So, even after having purchased a ticket, they said that might not be good enough? What're they doing, overselling the event? Tickets
If they get their hand stamped they are fine. If they buy the ticket and leave the building without entering they are in the same boat as the season ticket holders. There is no reason to stamp hands if you can't get back in the building.

Moorhead
Tough one, very tough one...............I have symathy for the Centennial faithful, and I know what it would be like trying to guarentee a seat.........come on, maybe the ticket guy meant that if you leave now and come back a half an hour before the biggest game of the year, you might have to stand......it would be impossible to save any seats in the sprots center, 75 % of it is bleachers, ........and I am sure that if you had a valid ticket and came back and it was packed, showing that you have a ticket should be enough to at least get in....
you cannot just go by some undereducated rink worker or volunteer selling tickets they don't know....I would take that advice as a tip and friendliness, take your good seat after purchacing some ham sandwiches and hotdogs and enjoy a great night of High School hockey, or go out after the game.....................

Re: Moorhead
"NEWS FLASH" "NEWS FLASH" "READ ALL ABOUT IT".
The gov. of MN the great Tim Pawlenty has just signed a piece of break through legislation. The gov. just authorized the town of Moorhead to be annexed into the state of North Dakota. The new name of the town will be Headless. It seems that ND has plans to build a new state of art 10,000 seat indoor ice arena so that all the people of Headless and their transferee student athletes have a common place to go and worship themselves and talk about all their glorious accomplishments.

My god. The point originally being made was that a call was made as to the possibility of holding what appears to be about 3% of the areas capacity for the visiting school knowing that it was going to be a popular game and possibly limited tickets. Sounds like a year ago the same request was honored with about 20% of the arenas tickets being reserved to the visitors. Nothing to do with the outcome of the game. It's called being Minnesota nice. Remember that concept?

I'd suggest getting there early. As Leo Durocher said, "Nice guys finish last."

Re: Moorhead
This is the biggest cry baby yaya topic Ive seen in a while, just an excuse rip on the best team in the state. Centenial lost, had no excuses, so the cry about the seats. The sales person probly told the person buying the tickets, if they left they probly all wouldnt get a seat together, or the might be filled to standing room only, and this person couldnt get his way so now he is pouting. Who cares, moorhead has no class, but they are the best is both classes. Section 8 sweeping up the state, you better recognize.
