Wild Tournament schedule
All things considered...tournament director has to be terribly arrogant to schedule games during the school day. Even high school coaches will tell players and parents that priorities for youth should be family, school church ( assuming a family value)... then hockey. This is not the state tournament, and it is not the senior classic.
The Wild tournament offers nothing to players other than the opportunity to compete with friends from other communities. There are no other obvious benefits.
Parents enjoy the games as well. Are parents and other interested fans expected to take time from work, also? We'll be curious to see what the gate fee is.
None of the participants in this tournament agreed to particpate with the understanding that they would have to miss school in order to play a game(s). No other Spring tournament we have ever been involved in has been scheduled this way. Our daughter will not be missing school to play hockey.
So...Mr. D___, my guess is that unless you accomodate reasonable schedules or compensate teams for their inability to field teams on Thursday and Friday, this will be the last "Wild" tournament. You have destroyed your own reputation...and it appears it is all about the money.

It seems there've been a few changes to try to accomodate some teams. My daughter's team now has a game at 7am on saturday instead of 9am on friday. Better, but still tough for us out-staters.
After this mess, I think they can shut down the operation for next year.

the fun is just beginning
Does anybody remember the tournament last year? We remember that it was poorly run overall. Referees not showing up for games, inexperienced timekeepers, last-minute schedule changes (oh yeah, we already have that this year). Did anyone else have those or other problems?
I fear the fun is just beginning for those of us heading to the SR this weekend. If just getting the schedules done has been this much of a mess, the actual event is bound to be even worse

Tri, yes I remember it very clearly, not only was it poorly organized and scheduled last year, and for a first year effort, you can forgive that a little. But they also had several kids playing on as many as up to 3 different teams, and in up to 8 games. It was very tough then too! All in all this is a good weekend for a tourney like this, and it fits in great in the overall schedule for summer. It is just too bad that it is organized this poorly. Maybe next year some one else can do the same thing, on this weekend? I am betting the "Wild" will no longer be doing it, or even be an organization for that matter, after this.
