FSGOG, the statement I made was that if the team did not follow the rules as explained to you they would be caught,the flip side is if the rules are followed there is nothing to worry about.That you are following the rules congratulations I am glad you were listening at the meeting,Not making accuations just stating a fact.Good Luck to your team, this year is a unique oppertunity for some teams and I hope all teams listened at the meeting, if one tries to beat the system could ruin it for all next year. <p></p><i></i>

wild...<br><br>I don't know a single player on any of these teams that isn't heavily involved in off season skill development. The games they play with their B&A teams gives them the opportunity to test these skills at a higher level of competition with girls of like ability. None of them see B&A as a replacement for skill development. <p></p><i></i>

I know for a fact that the B&A teams are following the rules for the reasons graybeard states - they don't want to screw this up for one thing!<br><br>I've said it before, AAA thrust isn't a skill building entity. Some try to involve this in their mission, but mainly it's an opportunity to showcase talent, not develop it beyond what can be gained from game play against high level competition.<br><br>All AAA players that are top notch that I know participate in skill clinics/camps/training beyond the AAA games/tourneys. I never made a dime coaching AAA, and they are usually non-profit at best. Minimal compensation is given to some coaches, but many volunteer. What's really expensive is all the travel and tourney fees I think. And - I don't know my "record" as an AAA coach, but it truly doens't count for anything anyway. It was just an honor to get a chance to stand behind the bench (or open doors) and watch some of the best talent in women's hockey in MN that anyone has ever seen. <p></p><i></i>

Usually the AAA teams do not make money, there is usually a shortage of funds, as some people do not always pay-up and the managers, or coaches end up putting money in to cover the costs of ice, refs, jerseys, tournaments, etc... <p></p><i></i>

Well said. For example, the group I worked with last year just for summer had an operating budget of about $40k, and we came within a couple hundred bucks of breaking even. I considered this pretty successful all things considered. Another big expense is uniforms when these teams first get started. Getting sponsors is very important for this reason.<br><br>Also - I have new respect for the managers of these teams. Following up on the earlier chatter - did any GEL B & A or something remotely similar get formed? Any other fall leagues? It is getting close to the time when people have to organize fall teams...

Nope - or, I should say not to my knowledge.

There were three groups. They were told to sit down and work together. There was a meeting to be called, and it never happened. If this stays this way, we won't see a B&A league, just a couple B&A teams again same setup as last year.

Sad part is that 90's & younger can't play under the current B&A setup. You must be an 89 next year, a 90 the following year (07-08), etc. There are some great players in the younger birth years, as is obvious in who is going to NDP, etc. I do have to say though that this rule does help get more upperclassmen exposure vs the very best kids top to bottom in MN regardless of age.
