Roseville possibly upsets...

Post by rave35 »

As for the first game there is a definate potential for an upset. I feel that Roseville may win if they can keep ER off the board the first period. Weather the storm and you can beat them. WE beat them by keeping their Defense carrying the puck, take away the passing lanes and make them carry it to neutral zone.
ER-4 RVILLE-3
I cant say about the Bville game, I dont know who the four or so kids are that are suspended? help me out bville coach.

Predictions

Post by SLP Coach »

As a 3rd party bystander, in other words, one who has no stake in these playoffs, THIS YEAR. Here are my first round predictions.

1. ER Vs 8. R'ville:
I see an upset here. R'ville's goalie comes up huge stopping 30-32 shots and R'ville capitalizes on their PP opportunities going 3 for 6. And adding an open net goal to end the game.
Roseville (4) - ER (2)

2. EP-B Vs 7. WB-O:
This will be a very fast paced game with good puck movement. WB-O will get on the board first but won't get much after that. EP-B will take this one with a flurry of shots in the 2nd.
EP-B (5) - WB-O (2)

3. B'ville Vs 6. Centennial:
In the 2nd upset of the night Centennial will take advantage of B'ville missing players. Both coaches will try and matchup their first line against the weaker 3rd lines off and on all night. Centennial will be the benificery of this with the quick movement and passing from their first line overpowering the slower Defensemen from B'ville.
Centennial (4) - B'ville (1)

4. EP-R Vs 5. Tartan:
In what should be an outstanding offensive affair Tartan will come out to take an early lead scoring 3 in the first period. Then they will try to hold that for the rest of the game. Fortunatly for EP-R Tartan hasn't had to play much 'D' all year and will be able to wear down the untested defense of Tartan. Trailing 3-1 after 2 periods EP-R will come out and blow Tartan away in the 3rd scoring 2 quick ones to tie it up and then take the lead on a pretty 2 on 1. Fortuantly for Tartan they will get a 'lucky' bounce and tie it up on a break-away, but EP-R will come right back and take the lead less than two mins later. EP-Red will add a open netter to end this game, scoring 5 goals in the 3rd period.
EP-Red (6) - Tartan (4)

Man, speculation is a fun game in itself. I wish I could see all these games tonight, but we have one of our last "practices" of the year at 8:30-9:30. All updates will be appreciated.

I love the play by play.... I would have to agree with most of the game picks but dont know about how high the scoring will be. These teams have some outstanding goalies and i dont think there will be a game with six goals...HAVE FUN AT PRACTICE!!!

rave35

Picks -

Post by BVILLEJRGOLD »

We'll start with the early game.
(1)Elk River v (<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)"> Roseville
-As much as I want to pick the #1 seed, I just can't. Roseville has been hot for about the last month or so. They will be the first team born into regions with a 4-2 win.

(4) EP Red v (5)Tartan
-The Titans will come out flying. EP Red will take about a half of a period to adjust. Once they do they should control things a bit. I think this will be a close game. In the end EP will be too much and take home a 5-3 empty net win.

(2)EP Black v (7)WB Orange
-When WB Orange is on they can beat the best of them. True, they have been slumping the last couple of weeks but they might be back tonight. I still think Black is too solid of a team for Orange to beat. I think we will see a great game here. I think Black pulls it out 4-3.

(3)Burnsville v (6)Centennial
-You won't see a score prediction but I think you will see a good game. When we played them early in the season we beat them by 1. I think they had a few guys missing and I remember it being a VERY good game. Both teams had opportunities. Might need to take a nap before this one even starts.

Good luck to all teams. It should be a fun night at the rink!

BVILLE

I love the play by play predictions, especially the detail from SLP Coach on the upcoming Tartan vs EP Red game. This should make for some good motivational speeches and a great game.
We played EP Red early in the season at a tournament and came out on top of a very close game 3-1.

Is it game time yet?

Just so we all know these are just predictions and are for fun. I do the same thing for other sporting events and even in my fantasy football league I have my "Max Power Preminitions" every week. Am I right every time? Absolutly not. Am I right most of the time? Nope. But every once in a while I hit the nail on the head and it sure is fun when I do. Remember these are just some guess as to what "could" happen and they are just for fun. Let's not hunt me down before/after games to "off me" or anything. Come-on guys, this is the only way I am able to "participate" in the playoffs this year.

SO, go ahead and use what ever I say how ever you would like. Best of luck to all the teams in the playoffs and come Regions GOOOOOO MHL!!!

Rat's picks& predictions..

Post by RinkRat22 »

I like all the horoscope action going on out here - it makes for great reading! I am going make a few picks since my squad doesn't play until Wed night!

ER beats Roseville by 1 at the end. Should be a close game and a great start to a good night of MHL playoffs hockey! perhaps 2-1.

Tartan will beat Red by a couple. I think Tartan will be ready and a little birdie told me that Red has some internal problems currently, they're a little distracted. 5-3 Titan win.

Black will prevail in a shoot-out. Orange has slid, but I think they enough fire to skate with Red. Red a little revenge from the early season loss. 6-4 Red (open netter)

Centennial beats Bville by one in the night-cap. Another 1 goal game finding Cen capitalizing on a Bville miscue. Cen advances to regions w/a 6-5 win.

Who has the toughest 2nd day? I think the loser of Red/ Tartan has to regroup and play a much improved Edina squad. then I'd say playing WB Black would be next (loser of Bville/Cen) Should be interesting! The Rat might be eating out of a PIC garbage can this week. Good luck to all teams!

Observations

Post by MNHockeyObserver »

6:00p - Roseville is playing well, but still hurting without a couple key players. Played tough against Red without those players, but with strong goaltending. Elk River is not Red. A better team throughout. Roseville will need to shoot the puck and capitalize against Elk River's weakness - goaltending. Elk River advances.

7:45p - This is why the games are played. No talk about shoulda, coulda, woulda. Tartan is confident, possibly overconfident. Red got a serious wake-up call against Black and admits "escaping with a tie." A little team unity never hurt. {Can I call this one a tie?} A renewed Red team grinds Tartan and gets outstanding goaltending. Red Advances.

8:30p - Black proved what it is capable of against Red, but still struggles to put the black disk all the way across the red line. Lots of baskets without bisquits. Orange has been having it's own struggles lately and will try to physical Black out of the game. Red tried that and got shocked. It doesn't work. Black advances. (FYI-Black and Red play each other in Round One of Regionals, if this holds true.)

9:30p - Will the Blaze have anyone else to play defense? Will they need anyone with #11 back there? Doubt it. Hope that kid is in good shape. Centennial has been playing well as of late, but still likely lacks the overall unity and discipline to put it all together. The winner gets 10 days to rest. The Blaze will need it. Burnsville advances.

Let's see how these play out before we pick the Wednesday games. For Regions we all throw a Dairy Queen or Perkins coupon in the center and run an NCAA-hoops-style-pick-'em. Maurice Clarett can run it for us . . .

Tartan vs. EP Red

Post by mjbtartan »

Tartan (7) vs. EP Red (4)

We scored 9 seconds in to the game, EP tied it up a little later. Second period we scored 3 in a row to put us up 4-1, then EP tied it up later on once again. We scored one more time before the end of the period and led 5-4 before the third period. We got one more goal and an empty net and won 7-4. Overall a good game, probably changed some people's opinions about our team.

District 4-11 team

Post by freighttrain »

Just got word from the Albert Lea coach today that Redwood Falls and Cartlton have backed out meaning that Albert Lea will be the team for that game. He said that him and his team really dont want to go play in the game because they didnt earn it and wont be able to play with the team. This is one reason why they wanted to be in our playoffs and i believe should. They played in our regular season this year and finished 7th. Next year if they are back in our regular season play i will push for them to be in our playoffs.

Well even though i saw plenty of you at the game tonight, ill go ahead and post this bad boy anyways...

Elk River (4) vs Roseville (3) OT

A great game, and if we would have better Dzone coverage, and two more saves by our goalie, its a week break and regions. Instead now we have to win a tourney again. Looks like we only have to win two more games though. Minnetonka should be a decent game, and then i assume EPR. That will be an amazing game and we get our top scorer back. Really glad we arent in that bottom bracket and have to play two top ten teams just to go to regions! ill settle for one!

See everybody on wednesday

Burnsville v Centennial

Post by BVILLEJRGOLD »

Wow! For those of you who left early last night, you missed a great game. The score was tied at 1-1 after the first. Centennial had a 2-1 lead after two. Burnsville came out in the third on the powerplay and scored to tie it at two. Bville then got a quick one shortly after to take a 3-2 lead. Just as fast as that happened Centennial score 3 times to make it 5-3 Centennial.

With about 2 minutes left Centennial got a penalty and Burnsville pulled their goalie. Burnsville scored with about 1:30 left to make it 5-4 Centennial. Burnsville again pulled their goalie with about 1:15 left and got another goal with about 45 seconds left. Finally after play went back and forth in the THIRD OVERTIME when it was 3 on 3 Burnsville ended the game. I could not be more proud of our guys for the heart they showed last night. As most of you know we were short 4 players do to fighting. Great effort by both teams.

Also, congrads to Elk River, Tartan and EP Black for their wins last night. Great night of hockey at PIC!

BVILLE

CONGRADS to the 4 teams that won last night.

B'ville- Man, that sounds like one hell of a great game. 3OTs and scoring 2 with under 2 to play in regulation with your net empty. It really sounds like both teams played their hearts out. Congrads to both teams on a GREAT game!!!

Coachguy- Your game was the only one I was able to see the who thing. (saw 1st period of EP/Tartan too) That one is a tough one to swallow. Your guys came and played a great game against a VERY GOOD Elk River team. Coming back and getting 2 in the 3rd to tie it up is a good accomplishment. Time to regroup and come ready to play a physical game against Tonka.

Some great hockey at the MHL Districts. Who would of guessed it? JGB putting on a great show for the fans that show up to watch. hopefully the next round can be as exciting and as well played as this first one. Good luck to all the teams playing out District.

As the post card that you send me says "Wish you were here" .... ummm.....yeah I mean "Wish I was there...."

SLP Coach you might want to hang on to that cheese for a bit, let it get a little blue-er. Seems Rat had the Braves going down in defete to Centennial. He had the right score but the wrong team.

By the way, I am one of the Burnsville parents, I have been quietly reading these postings since near the end of league play. You guys are a little obsessed with hockey, but I guess that puts you in good company.
