Good luck to you and your team this weekend, the Elks should be fine. Only one thing to point our in your predictions (which you are entitled to) Have you ever watched Tartan and/or EP Black?? Neither team is physical and both will try to out score one-another. Just a quick FYI. This game will be fast and full of great scoring opportunities, but never will these teams be physical. Might be a 6-5 contest.

I would agree neither of these are your typical physical teams but I believe Black will be able to neutralize the Tatan offense in defensive end by sticking with the body which will frustrate Tartan. Keep close to 16 and the little guy on his line and they dont score or create the oppertunities. Still think EP's D will out play Tartan's O.

I agree and respect your opinion. I agree Black wins and the Mighty Titans will not follow their Varsity foes into the Championship bracket (Good for you Tartan HS Section 2 Champs). Just keeping you honest over here- it seemed you were telling untruths, my young, antler-ed friend.

Oh ooh, it looks like the Tiny Titans learned how to play defense.
Elkman and Rat-we need more predictions. How about hastings 6 Tiny Titans 1? tartandude nice win. didn't see much of game. good luck with hastings you'll have you hands full. go mhl
recap:
refs were terrible in er game inconsistant missed calls, phantom calls, penalties being over ruled, a call for too many men on the ice when they pulled thier goalie and no body serves it. er played the last 4 plus minutes shorthanded with a 2 minute stretch at 5 on 3. goalie was huge in the last minute 4 or 5 big saves.enough whinning, looking forward to a rematch with burnsville, they stold a controversial one in regular season.

predictions for today:

elk river 5
burnsville 3

hastings 4
tartan 1

cent. 3
roch. 2

red 4
black 2

Refs suck

Post by TartanDude »

The reffing has really sucked in this tourney. Gotta finally agree with elkman on something-the ref for the ER Burn game was really bad. we had the same guy for Tiny Titans vs EPB and also had him a couple times during the season. The little guy can't keep up with the play and no one can seem to figure out what he's really looking at most of the time. lots of missed calls and blown calls. The guys about the same size as the smallest Tiny Titan, but sure has a BIG attitude. Not sure what he's trying to prove out there though.

The ref in the Tiny Titans Hastings game had plenty of mystery calls too. One was a goal scored by hastings that was batted out of the air above his shoulders. Then there was the DQ given for an unknown reason. Lots more.

Guess you just gotta hope that they make enough phantom calls both ways to balance it.

Elkman - i like your prediction for the championship of the world game this afternoon. Tiny Titans have been the underdog all playoffs. Keep under estimating us! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil">

Good luck today. Cons. - EP Red (5) over Centennial (4)
3rd - Hastings (6, empty net) over Burnsville (4)
Championship - Tartan (5) over Elk River (1)

CONGRATULATIONS to the Titans of Tartan and good luck to your high school and Junior Gold A teams in the postseason.

TDude, glad you are on board about the officiating and glad you agree it was bad in our first round game. I think you guys benefited most from the lack of hooking calls, but you guys capitalized on our mistakes and straight up beat us, so hats off. (Not sure you did it with defense, as was posted before, but that is neither here nor there.) My sympathies to District 2 for having these refs all season long, year in and year out - and I'm an also official, so you'd think I'd support the brotherhood. Not these guys. Wow. [Note: No sour grapes, we were beaten by two good teams, just honesty.]

Tartan held up their end of the bargain. Kudos.

tiny titans vs. BIG ELKS

Post by TThockey »

nice job tiny titans for out playing the BIG ELKS. i can't wait to hear ELKMAN's recap of the game. the ELKS size just could not keep up with the tiny titans little legs and their determination to prove to everyone that they are the best in the league.

I like to peak in here from time to time to read all the dribble. It is fun to make predictions and then see what happens! I was shocked to hear (from the mouth of a Babe) that the Tiny Titans beat EP Black on Friday night. I was more impressed with another convincing win on Saturday over Hastings. But for those little "blue men" to crush Elk River today is one for the ages. The Titans have shown that they are for real this season and are your 2004 JGB Region Champs. Congrats to Tartan (1st), Hastings (3rd), and EP Red (Cons) for winning their final game of the season only those three teams can actually say they went out as winners! Job well done.

Can I really stop there with all that positivity? Me? The Rat for Hell?? Heck no! I will put this out for all to see:
Isn't quite ironic that the two (2) programs without JG A teams ended up in the JGB Finals facing one another! Oh wait the A teams from Elk River and Tartan play in another meaningful Tourney this up coming week.... That is all I am going to say about that!-F.Gump

Where's that A team????

Post by WBO30 »

I would have to agree with rat and say that it is ironic that the 2 jgb teams with out an A team are in the final game. To Elk River and Tartan, get some BALLS and get a A team. Knowing them it probably will not happen!

What's really amazing is that at the beginning of the season, you don't really know what kind of talent a team has. But you have to realize that no matter how you look at it, the Tiny Titans who were over rated all year long by many teams, came out to be the NUMBER 1 team in the league. So Phooy on you!

And I might add that the kids on the Titans team had more HeArT and SoUl than any of you will ever have. They had to proove something to everyone that over rated them that they were FOR REAL! Put that in your pipe and smoke it .. Oh, and I LOVE NUMBER 9 and NUMBER 5 .. They are the Hottest People EVER! YAY!!!

CONGRATS to the Tiny Tartan Titans, Ironic isn't it that the underdog of teams wins the regions, there is nothing ironic about it, most of these titans never were on a traveling team not because they were not good enough but because they liked the team they were on. We worked hard to win this title and deserve it. We played the regions hard and came out on top, not by luck but by hard playing and teamwork, maybe not all of our teammates score all the time, but they still need to hold off the Offensive of the other team- we have shown we could do that also.

When you remember the underdogs, remember the Titans and a hard fought Regional tournament that showed we are the champions! AND 4 U WBO30 I DO BELIEVE THAT U PLAYD JGB 2 SO R U NOT GOOD ENOUGH 2 PLAY A OR WHAT? if u wana talk bout us not having an a team that must mean u think r teams good enough 4 the A league thanks 4 the compliment but were just the average underdog team like ur self. It just was the year 4 the seniors of '04 at THS, not to sell our Jr's and Soph's short hell of a year to all of us. And congrat's to our varsity (the underdogs of their tourney like ourselves provem wrong boyz)
good luck
#3

why don't you have 2 A teams

Post by TartanCoach »

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

Just for clarification Rat, there are several teams in the MHL B league that don't have A teams: Cent, Maht, Rvl, ... But I do understand where you are coming from. Tartan (mainly myself, not the association) would like to have an A team someday. I just don't know if we'll ever have the numbers for it.

Anyway, I knew it wouldn't take long for the bears to start the Tartan A team bit again. They never seem to mind kicking our butts every year, but in the 2 seasons out of 9 that we have beaten them in league play they start the same sob story - specifically the orange bears and a certain WB lady. They're still so mad at us for beating them a few years ago that they won't let us in their tournament anymore. Well guess what bears, Tartan has barely enough players for 1 team vs 5 teams for the bears. Since at least one of your "B" teams are in regions almost every year, then maybe you should have 2 A teams.

To prove the point for the Tiny Titans: this is only the second time in history that Tartan JG/Midgets has made regions and the first time that we've even won a regional game, almost all of our players were B-C players through bantams, 4 of our players didn't even play last year - 2 of which hadn't played for 2 and 3 years, we have no former HS V players, Tartan finished in 5th place for league play, we lost twice to Hastings, lost to ER, lost to RAVE!!!, lost to Bvl, lost to Cent, lost to RVL, lost to WBO, tied NSP!!!, and our average height is about 5'4" with our skates on. Definitely not the ingredients for an A caliber Jr. Gold team. To quote an earlier comment on this forum"... they wouldn't even be able to beat Hudson in the A league". Realistically, Tartan would have been lucky to win 5 games in the MHL A league.
The Tiny Titan's success in the playoffs came from hard work, determination, team play, and a good attitude. Not from a stacked team or playing in the wrong league. We skated our hearts out this weekend and we were successful.

Let's just be glad that a D8 team didn't win it this year!

Good luck to the Tartan Varsity in the state tournament. Another first for Tartan! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

Champs

Post by hockey08 »

Hats of to the Titans. That was a hell of a game, but to anyone that watched the game... The score tells nothing about it. The Elks outshot the titans probably 2-1. The titans had a hot goaly, 2 break aways and an empty net. Like I said I watched the game and the titans deserved the win but to say that they smoked the Elks is a bit of an over statement.

hockey08-

You're correct, it was a great game and a lot closer than the score indicates. Even with a 4-1 lead after the second there was every reason to believe that the Elks could come back and win the game. Our goalie played extremely well today. Official shots were 26 for ER and 25 for Tartan.

Great Season Fellas'

Post by BVILLEJRGOLD »

Great season everybody. It has been fun coming into work and checking "The Board". Congrats to the Titans on the victory. I wish we would have had a shot. Also congrats to the Elks for getting to the big dance. TartanCoach, you would have won a lot more than 5 games at the A level. It was nice talking and meeting a lot of you coaches and players this season. We'll see if we can get the "Select Game" set up. If not, we'll see some of you coaches at Green Mill on the 31st.
Thanks,
BVILLE
