Re: Champs
Congrats to TARTAN.

I was able to bear witness to both the third place game and the finals yesterday and i have to say both were great games. All the tartan kids ive met in person have been great and you guys pulled though and impressed a lot of people, regaurdless of what the might say about being an A or B team. We did outscore you guys this year<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b"> , but you guys got that big trophy and the last laugh.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Im gonna go start preparing for my spring break, and wallow in the fact that i didnt get even a thank you card at our banquet saturday night. Kids who read this...Go get your coach something, rememeber they are volunteers and dont get paid for this! Even a thank you card and a $5 coupon to McDonalds is better than a whole lot of jack squat!

k done ranting....

Re: Champs
Congrads are in order to Tartan, ER, B'ville and EP-Red.
First Congrads to Tartan on taking the JGB Regional Championship..... to ER just for being in that game and taking it all the way to the end...... B'ville, you really put together a very good season and should be proud of what your team did and EP-Red for taking home the consulation.

Unfortunatly I wasn't able to make it to any of the games this weekend but my Asst Coach went to the Champ / 3rd place games and said both were very good games.

I look forward to seeing some of you (hopefully most of the coaches) at the Green Mill on the 31st. Unfortunatly it seems as though SLP will NOT be having a Jr. Gold team next year (unless number lookout changes drasticly over the coming months). It seems as though we will be taking over the Squirt 'A' team to try and develop a stronger program from the bottom up. SLP's Peewee 'A' finished district 0-12 and Bantam 'A' 1-10-1. Things need to get better for this association and it all starts at a younger age. The SLPHA is doing a great job putting things together to make it succesful. Now it just takes some time and effort for the payoff.

Anyway ... Congrads again to all teams at Regions and everyone for a great MHL season.

Re: why don't you have 2 A teams
BTW....on the 2 'A' teams issue. MHL will not let this happen.

I am told that Eden Prairie tried to do that this year and they were turned down on that request. They were told that the 'A' level is supposed to be the top 15-20 players in a given association ..... not a 2 team dillution that splits the top 35-40 players. I'm sure that the EP guys can give you more info on how this went down.

This is just what I have been told.

Close, but not quite . . .
Actually, it was not the MHL that made any policy or decision regarding EPs Junior Gold teams. This year is was a Dist. 6 policy that says if any assoc. has multiple teams at any given level, those teams must be chosen equally. (JGB teams with identical records which tied in their league game. Is that equal enough??)

EP was considering two A teams, but intended an upper A and a lower A. The upper would be the same kids that made this years A team and the lower A would have been made up of kids from both of this years B teams. The District, however, put a restriction on this. We also considered an upper and lower B team. The District said no to that as well.

Ironically, at one of the PeeWee levels, Minnetonka had an undefeated first-place team and a nearly winless last-place team in the same league. That one must have slipped through the administrative cracks.

It was a great year
I have been sitting here reflecting on a great weekend of hockey. I did not sleep that well last night, I kept waking and thinking "If only the puck had bounced a different direction once or twice for the Blaze!!!" ..... could the outcome of our last two games have been different? The guys really gave it their all this weekend.

We had a chance to see the coaches and players (and managers) we played throughout the year and got to share a very rare moment (making it to the finals). The two EP teams, Elk River, Tartan, Centennial, Hastings, Rochester and Burnsville all have some great kids on their teams. I saw some great sportsmanship after the games. I was proud to have been a part of the weekend and even more proud of the guys on the team, they stepped up when things were down and showed some class.

BVILLE it has been great working with you.

Mr T
