Best Jr. Gold A Team

Post by sophmorestud13 »

I was just wondering which Jr. Gold A team is the best. I think Wayzata, White Bear Lake, and Eden Praire are the top 3. All of them have beaten each other, but it looks like Wayzata has a good chance to repeat this year.

Top Team

I would have to agree with that, i might add Edina to the list although they are very inconsistant. It will all come down to the last three games and could go either way. Last year it went Wayzata's way, it will be very interseting to see. Although it sucks that the state tournement is held at Edison, i heard it was a terrible rink.

best team

It could go any way right now....I agree ep, wbl, wayzata, and maybe edina if they have enough players have a crack at it.

It is very gay though that the state tourney is held at edison.....

Wayzata was clearly the best team last year, dominating the other 2 top teams edina and ep to get to the championship..

2003 semis

Post by mnhockey009 »

I would not say wayzata was clearly the best team last year. In the semi-finals vs. EP. EP's goalie let in 3 goals on about 7 shots in the first ten minutes and pulled himself. After the it was a very even game with the shots ending up in EP's favor.

Wayazeta and Ep both beat each other twice last year as well all in close games. So i agree with mnhockey009, i believee the games were 2-1 (Ep W), 3-2 ( Wayazeta W in OT), 1-0 (Ep W) and finally 6-4 (Wayazeta W)<<<Ep had a crucial goal dissallowed with about 2 minutes left on a shakey call by the ref...

last year

Wayzata clearly outshot EP last year in the state semi's, I believe they had around double the shots EP had. Scoring was close early on, until wayzata scored the 4th 5th and 6th goals and then EP put pressure on and scored later.

Best Junior Gold ATeam in 2003/004?

Post by troll21 »

I think Wayzata is the best Junior Gold A team in the state. The will win the MHL. Both EP and WBL have 3 loses. But anything could happen at regionals. The 4, 5, and 6 teams also have a chance. Edina is short with players but has the right players that want to continue. Lakeville is young and has some speed. Burnsville has been on a role. Minnetonka will be strong in if all the players are back. Sleeper is Woodbury and Blaine.

sophmorestud13, I agree Wayzata could repeat as state champs but the MHL board, thought other wise about your team by choosing EP and WBL for the Minnkota cup.

The 1- 0 game last year between EP and Wayzata was the best game in JR A I have ever seen. But I think Wayzata won the game, in Duluth, in overtime. I also believe there where no penalties.

Wayzata vs. EP

Post by mnhockey009 »

The 1-0 game was the regional champioship at Richfield last year that EP won to go to state, Wayzata end up making it through the back door. This was a very well goaltended game on each side. The game in Duluth was at Pederson areana where Wayzata won 3-2 in OT. It very fast game that was a top quality JGA game.

minnkota cup?

Post by Statechamps09 »

So they have already decided that WBL and EP are the two minnkota cup teams?

that doesn't make sense when wayzata clearly won the MHL.........

Minnkota Cup

Post by mnhockey009 »

Yeah, it is final. They felt these two teams would represent Minnesota the best. The teams sportsmanship and skill were the two factors in the decision. I feel one of these two teams will finish on top anyways. Lakeville won the MHL last year and they weren't that good, they didn't even make it to state.

sportsmanship

Post by Statechamps09 »

I think white bear should be one of the minnkota cup teams..

To say EP is going based on sportsmanship is a joke.....#11 is too big of a fruitcake to take his glove off and shake hands going through the line. Also, after a loss at an out of town tournament a couple EP players left the ice without shaking hands after (they did not shake before) and one of the EP players going through the line stuck a player on the opposing team in the nuts with his stick and called him a @#%$, good sportsmanship..<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
