Good Hockey Talk out there...
Can someone tell me what was up with all that banter last page? Can't we all just get along. (yeah, right)

Ya'll have read the tough ones for the Skips over the weekend. They have just one more game v Bville Thurs night and they'll compete, but not prevail vs a larger than life Braves (forever) squad who shocked this Rat by taking all 3 games over the weekend! Kinda like a Tourney win!? That should set the tone for the playoffs and make Bville a tougher than thought of team to beat.

Rat got some great updates from some observers out there, but was unable to attend the many games due to QT with Mrs. Rat. (Aaaaaaa!)

Some pretty fun playoff-type games up-coming:
EP Red v Roseville (Rville: stay out of the box, you'll win - if not, Red will kill on the PP = easy)
EP Black v EP Red (Red has more exp, but I am taking Black)
Tartan v Centennial (Cen will win a dog-fight)
Tonka v Burnsville (It's all or nothin' for the Skips)

Rat -
Did you make an appearence at the Barn (Burnsville) this weekend? I know you said you were thinking about it. I'm kinda pissed, EP red and EP black play on Thursday night at about the same time we play. That would be a great game to watch. There will be a lot on the line in that game.

You Dirty Rat
I gotta disagree with the Rat on his predictions.

EP Red v Roseville (Rville: stay out of the box, you'll win - if not, Red will kill on the PP = easy)
gonna be a rough game, don't think CoachGuy can pull this one off
EP Black v EP Red (Red has more exp, but I am taking Black)
wish I could watch this one, Red's gonna edge black by 1
Tartan v Centennial (Cen will win a dog-fight)
no more Tiny Titans, we grew a lot after the Wayzata game and we're ready to kick some butt
Tonka v Burnsville (It's all or nothin' for the Skips)
hope the Skippers can do it. Do you believe in miracles???

predictions
I am horrible with predictions, but ill try...minus my game ofcourse, but ill give some insite.

EP RED v roseville (no matter what we have the 8 seed, this might be a throw away game for us. However, there is a chance that if we cant beat them we will face them twice in a row. If they beat black they move up to #1 seed, due to not having a tie.)

BLACK v RED ( If i had a EP Black hoody id be sporting it down at the arena that night. Maybe Jason and i can make a switch and he can wear a Roseville sweatsuit tomorrow night!)

Tartan v Centennial (Centennial hasnt beaten a team ahead of them in the standings and i dont think it starts this week)

Tonka v Burnsville (#11 gets a playmaker, and # 9 gets two goals and 2 assist as Burnsville goes blazing into the playoffs ... pathetic chuckle at lame attempt at humor)

I'll be carpooling down to BFE (EP) thursday night for the game...good luck to all who have games left this weekend

Predictions -
Let me give all of these except our game a shot.

EP Red vs Roseville - Roseville is hot right now. Playing good D with solid goaltending. I think the Raiders will pull this one out in a squeeker 3-2.

Black vs Red - I'm going to predict Black dominates play and wins 4-1. I like their ability to move the puck and play defense.

Tartan vs Centennial - I'll take Tartan. I think now they are back to full strength and have a chip on their shoulder. May be a very physical game. Tartan 5-3.

Burnsville vs Minnetonka - Should be a good game. They will be fighting for playoff spot and us for positioning. Last game of year before playoffs.

Good luck to all teams.
BVILLE

Predictions
The good things about predictions is . . . well, nothing is good about them, so here goes . . . .

EP Red vs. Roseville - If 7 (RV) stays out of the box and focuses, he'll get 2 goals (high blocker-side) and if the yellow-helmets on defense shoot the puck, the Raiders will prevail by 2. If 7's a slapass, give it the Reds.

Red vs. Black - The EPBlack coach thinks it will be a romp, but he can't figure out which direction. Like many others I am inclined to say it is closer than that. I'm gonna chicken out and say it will end in a tie with Red getting a late, controversial goal. (Bring your Rville sweatshirt, I think he reads the board.)

Tartan vs. Centennial - I think Tartan will have to keep their heads and stay out of the box against a physical Cougar team. If they do, they win by 3.

Bville vs. Tonka - If Tonka plays with life like last night, it will be a close win for either team. If they play like it's their last game of the year, then it will be.

lil more jaz
16 out of the last 17 unbeaten streak. . . Damned Hastings and their speed of all speeds!

Kids...lets talk about decisions. If you are a "slap ass" maybe only once in your life and the right people see it...Rumors spread, and you get whats called a reputation. If you do it more than once you get "Marked", and if you get "marked" people will pay even MORE attention to what you do. Then they tend to blow everything out of proportion, and thats when life really starts sucking for you. You can just put your head and hands down...take multiple punches and still get a coincidental. So, moral of the story, don't be a slap ass and you wont have problems. Too bad cause he is a great kid off the ice...I'm serious!

stick side eh?

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Were happy for you!
Well I tell you this: I'd rather have to control a few or a team of "Slap-asses" then get worked over by everyone because your team won't be emotional. I am saying all the slap-ass needs to get is a little TLC and encouragement. Right? But then again, Rville has been known for having a few slap-asses on every level, year in and year out! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> Let's see, Bobby Dustin, isn't that Sertich-guy a Ex-Rvller??

Re: Were happy for you!
king of slap asses....Chris McAlpine!

we have a good mix of slappys and non-emotional pacifists. Every once i a while one of our boys will catch a fire under his toukus and step it up. Then its good times!

A quickie . . .
A quickie and yet I am left feeling wholly unsatisfied. I guess actually seeing EP Red was all it took to drop them from your top spot. Let's hope it's not a Hastings/Elktown regional final.

Re: A quickie . . .
LOL....whether or not you tried to make that a KGB quote from rounders or not. Funny stuff.

Yeah, i dont know whether or not it was that our improvement has gotten us to a level where we can compete with Red W/O two top players or if they just looked past us to the Black game, but not that special. They may say that should have scored on thier break aways, but nobody gets break away goals on our goalie. We scored/"hit the pipe" with a minute left and could, shoulda, woulda won. So for that reason they arent deserving of a number one spot. By far this year the best team i have seen is Hastings. I held on to that EP red as number one for as long as i could, but now i have a D8 team a top my standings.

D8 playdowns?
I wonder if we're going to hear from our friends in D8 about their playoffs?? Where things sit or who's going to win, etc.. Regardless if some MHL coaches have seen these D8 teams or not, we need to hear what goes on over there! Where are they held? Why are they playing of only 2 spots in regions? What do they think about that?

Re: D8 playdowns?
There is actually an oppertunity to get three D8 teams into the regions. The number 3 team gets a play in game VS the winner of the lower losers bracket in the MHL distirct playoffs.

.02 cents of mine

Got that CG...
Yeah, I figured that out, CG. I was wondering if D8 had a play down like the MHL does and what that looked like?? I understand that they have the opportunity to get 3 into Regions, but how do THEY get to their 3?

D8 playoffs
Check out Stickstats.com for the D8 playoff brackets.

Thanks Tarts

D8
Just found out yesterday that Cottage Grove backed out of playoffs and wont be coming so it kinda screwed things up. Hastings will be in Regions for sure. It will be either Rochester Red or SSP with the other for sure bid. The loser between Red and SSP will win 3rd unless a miracle happens and one of them gets knocked off in the 3rd place game. If it isnt SSP or Red going to play the play in game (which IMO is BS we should get 3 guaranteed bids) the MHL team will have a cake game.

For us (IGH) the high hopes we had to make regions is all but put to sleep unless a miralce happens. We started 10-3-2 but since then we are 4-6. Our collaspe is due mostly to some very key injuries and guys not stepping up to fill that void.

D8
Yea, too bad igh has to play rested hastings (that is if they can even get past woodbury, who for a .500 team can play tough and dirty), but there are only 3 legit region-caliber teams in D8 and they are SSP Hastings and Rochester Red. Barring a meteor hitting one of these towns, you will see all 3 of us in regions. D8 has proven in tournaments and scrimmages against the top mhl teams that these 3 teams are at least top 10 (if not a couple top 5 teams) in the 2 leagues, and i am looking forward to regions so we can all fight this smack out. AS for d8 playoffs, if anyone wants to see some of the best games of the year in any league come check out the likely SSP-Roch Red quarterfinal wednesday night i think and the winner of that vs. Hastings on saturday i think (check stickstats for times, don't trust me). All 3 teams have blood feuds for each other and all 3 games will be intense fights. - SSP Goalie

Certainly might be...
...A couple of good games in the D8 playdowns, but 1 of those teams is going to have to play in a play-in game to make it. That means the losers of EPB/WBO and Bvill/Cen have to beat WBB and RAVE to get to that game! Not an easy road but I'll give the nod to which ever MHL team comes out of that mess vs. a 3rd placer in D8. Again, should be interesting! In addition, that game (for the 8th seed in Regions) will be played in the Wayzata Barn (aka Wayzata Middle School). A great atmosphere for playoff hockey!!!

MOOOOOOO!!!!
I need to give cheers to the Rochester White goalie, holy cow, what a game he played. He had to have been shell-shocked with so many gold jerseys in front of him all the time, and yet let in only 2. If he had not been as hot as he was, the score could have easily been 8--0, instead of 2--0. But SSP, you guys were flyin'!! Keep up your strength and power as you go head to head with the Red team on Wednesday. Moooooooooooooooooo!

TOP TEN LATE
after watching some good hockey lately, i say we now post top tens of what are left...

1. Bville-Goaltending is solid, all three can handle pressure. the only thing i think they may be able to work on is their passing, a little more of it....

2. Elks-Great team when playing together, again a little more passing could lead to some more chances.

3. Tartan- WORK ON D ZONE, cant allow four goals and expect to win every game, especially when your goalie bails you out in the late stages of a game.

4. EP Black- I was going to put you at three, however I dont feel that a one goal win against Orange was enough. you guys are better than you showed, i hope.

5. Roch red- hey these guys can move, I dont know about the playoffs but i thought they were the top team coming out of D8.

6. Centennial- goalie is hot, these guys can move and they will previal to play on Sat. will they beat #3 in D8?

7. EP red- I think that EP will show up on friday to stun the crowd who has seen them play below potential.

8. SSP- great goalie, solid D, but are the D fast enough to beat MHL forwards?

9. Hastings- definately quick and a good team. Not enough to beat MHL teams at the top...

10. Roseville- should be there, tough loss to CG. Still a top ten team in my heart. Goalie had to feel bad about overtime loss in Mondays loss. he got them to OT wiht a few huge saves though...
