Fair Play Points have got to Go!!
The fair play point system is the most ridiculous idea I have ever seen. They put this into action to try and "clean up" the league. However, the league has done a 180 degree turn from how it used to be. It is no longer a "goon league" and this system does NOT need to be used. It changes the outcomes of the final standings dramatically. Let the kids play.

fair play
Fair play wasnt just put into jr gold, it is also part of bantam, peewee and girls u12, u14. I agree its a joke, many things had been done to clean up all of hockey, this is nothing but a pork project. I'm afraid we're going to be keeping track of these points for quite awhile, in the meantime people need to get involved and figure out how to prove this a waste and then set a plan in motion to accomplish the real problems we face today. I'm not talking about how PC we should be either.

Re: fair play
I agree with both of you. Nobody likes the idea of the fair play points. They are at all levels Squirt-Jr. Gold. But the question people should be asking is "why did they have to implament them in the first place?" It is too bad that the few players, parents and coaches who mouth off, and then players who get stupid penalties have to ruin a big part of the game for the rest of us (players)... playing rough. But I would say better safe then sorry.

Agee with you on da PC Play Nice points as far as JuniorGold. I have no problem with it at U16 and below.

But at JG, because da teams play metro-wide, the kids get mixed messages from da refs.

On one side da river, da refs say "hmmm this is big boy hockey, contact is part of da game", but on da udder side of the river (you know who you are) da refs say "hmmm this is youth hockey, all contact is bad bad bad".

So when them poor lads cross the river and come back again they can't remember which rules are in effect - big boy hockey or no contact.

Re: fair play
I'll probably agree with everyone here. The Hep point or gayboy piont as I call it has good intention. Either they should remove it or add more penalty minutes from the current 16. Since in a good chunk of the games you get refs that like blowing their whistle a little too much(especially in district 2). and it can be difficult to earn the pt. Another point is that about a month ago we played the RAVE and had a ref that literally called everything, for example he gave a misconduct to two players for talking to each other after the whistle (and this didn't just happen once). I believe something like 30 penalties were assesed.

I agree with WBJG and Gamblin - Add points or don't count Coincidentals against the total.

Too many times I have seen one team get a huge lead (eg. 6 goals or more) and then the ref won't call a "single" penalty on the losing team. Instead he will call Coincidental penalties so the winning team doesnt go on permanent Power Play and pad the score.

Dad - How did you lose your Fairplay Point Johnny?
Johnny - The ref called us for 9 coincidentals
