Hopkins isn't really that good. They just have a couple really good players.

Tournament teams

Post by BJHockey10 »

A little confused on who gets to get in to state. I know district 8 sends in 2 teams, but does the rest come from the metro league? Also, how does the tournament bracket seedings work?

the rest of the teams come from Metro. D8 will get the 3rd and 5th seeds for State.

Hopkins is totally different from last year.

3 Benilde Varsity Seniors plus a varsity goalie goes a long way to upgrading a team.

When you played them the big boys may have been sitting out a game er two, if you know what I mean.

We also have some seniors that were on the varsity team last season and should have been on it this season but the coach and the players didnt see eye to eye and were cut or didnt tryout.

Appears BSM coach decided to clean house and go with underclassmen this year and cut many returning seniors.

Current BSM Varsity Roster

3-Freshman
10-Sophomores
4-Juniors
3-Senors

yeah thats b/c we barely scrapped a team together this year. we didn't have many guys come out to play for us. i know this sounds unfair but the other guys are really hard workers but some of them aren't the best skills wise, would u play those guys all the time or would u try to play your best lines so u could actually win?? just to clear up any rumors, we have one kid that was an in between jv/v last year that was cut and hes a really good player, i don't know who started saying that we were loaded with benilde kids.

I'll just put down who I'd like to see there. Given anything can happen.(is there 8 teams in state?)
1. Woodbury
2. Hopkins
3. Chaska
4. Wbl O
5. WBl B
6. Edina
7. Guess you could throw in OMG-B or Wayzata Blue (based on previous performance)
(#7 should really be a toss up between different team)
8. Lakeville or IGH (depends)

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... hs>WBJG at: 2/15/06 9:00 pm

I agree with you WBJG, i would also like to see these 7 teams there for sure and then Lakeville and IGH is almost a toss-up, they are pretty evenly match teams with IGH leading the series, 1-0-1

Just curious on how the metro hockey league decides who the 6 teams are that go to state?? is it like split into two different playoffs or is it just one big playoff or what?

State

Post by freighttrain »

6 Metro teams make it and 2 D8. On the loser side of the bracket the two highest seeds that win out of those 3 final games go directly to state.

Its says gold region team will play the lowest seeded winner of the 3 games but the teams that played in the Gold region last year either went A or moved to High school team. I cant remember if Princeton played in the Gold Region or not. They may be the Gold Region team that the Metro will play in that other game.

With only 2 coming for D8 I hope that it will be 2 of the top 3 teams Woodbury, IGH, or Lakeville.
