I heard from a guy at work that his kids team lost their coaching staff for doing something wrong. Sounded like it was B.S. Anyone know whats going on?

yea dude, they were suspended for fees, stop patches, and we re-scheduled games against roseville and forest lake but they fined us for that and they gave us a win and a loss for those games we never played b/c its against league rules or something. But whats really gay is that our team is suspended for the rest of the year. Good luck to everyone our tourney time, wish we could play.

Sorry to hear that you will not be playing.

Its to bad MNHOCKEY or your association can not step into help the kids in this situation because of some wrong doing of a parent or coach for this team. I am sure the kids had no idea that the person in charge of this team was breaking the rules.

Another example of why adults are ruining the game of hockey for the youth.

Best of luck in the future to the Hopkins JGB team.

Just to set the record staright .. I wouldn't like it either if Hopkins was thrown out on some technicality. But hearing from the people upstairs .. we are not talking about technicalities. Playing with 3 kids that have graduated from High School last year, that are in college now, is a nasty deal. I feel sorry for the kids that didn't know this (if any), because they really got the raw deal. And how about the so called coaches .. good grief .. win at any cost.
I think we are all fortunate that this deal was caught before the playoffs started. The team that wouldn't have made it there, and possibly any teams that might have lost to them, would have been really screwed in this deal to. I know this looks like a really black eye to the MHL .. but this could have been much worse .. and I'm very glad they did catch this crap before more people got hurt in the deal.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS IN THE PLAYOFFS, AND THANKS FOR THE FUN ON THE ICE THIS YEAR!

If what is written in this latest post is true, Hopkins has a lot of explaning to do to the rest of the junior gold teams. Like bodangles, I'm dissapointed because i expected to possibly play them in the state tournament. But im especially sorry to anyone on Hopkins who wasnt involved in this incredibly stupid move.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ockey10 at: 2/24/06 5:15 pm

the coaches totally tricked us this year into believing that the guys were allowed to play. the thing is, they aren't even standouts. they have basic skills like everyone else, none of them played high school hockey and college hockey, they were players from last years junior gold b team that wasn't good. we played shorthanded with barely two lines all year. sometimes we had 7 guys show up for games. we just wanted to play, without them, we never would have had a team. again, we didn't know they weren't allowed to play by what our coach said and they in no way affected our performance, they were just there to make a team. again they were players from last years team, they were nothing special. i was cut this year from varsity as a senior and i wouldn't have played hockey this year without these guys. better to play than not.

I feel bad for you and the rest of the team. I hope that the coaches involved in this get the right punishment. IMO they should not be coaching any team next season.

Didnt something happen like this with Hutchinson about 5 or 6 years ago. When I played they had a really good team for a couple years and then the one season they didnt have a team and someone said they used illegal players in those season and they stopped having teams.

I may be wrong about this so dont think that i am bad mouthing Hutchinson but this is what I heard back then i could be mistaken.

Hutch just ran out of kids. They had their HS team make a run about 8-9 years back and got more kids out there interested, but couldnt maintain it. I talked to that coach after thier last year and he said it was the end of the road for their JG program.

Ive had plenty of kids approach me who have already graduated but still made the cut for age asking if they could play JG, but the rules state specificly that you must be enrolled in HS or (A)ssholes (L)ast (C)hance. Christ you have to have your principal or administrator sign off on your players that they are in fact taking classes.

If the kids were genuinely duped by these coaches then thats too bad. they should never be allowed to coach again.

PetesPosse is correct, at least 3 overage players played with some regularity. And contrary to the Hopkins Player on the forum - they kicked dome serious butt.

Saw them take apart Tonka 10-0 and Tonka only lost 4 (I mean 3) games all year. It wasn't even close. Perhaps for that border battle game they called up a few more additional ringers from the HS.

Hope Metro League gets to the bottom of it all and cleans it up. JrGold isn't supposed to be an adult pickup league.

no actually Gamblin D, that was our regular team, no extras, no call-ups. I myself had 4 goals on them that night, and i've been on the roster the entire year plus i'm a senior at hopkins. we kicked their ass. The only guys that were overage like i said were from the jgb team of last year and they were defensemen

can you tell us the numbers of the kids that were overage because the rumor is that the star of the team #29 was on and #42 and #17 where the 3 overage ones

hey do u want to know what EPcoach, why don't u read posts that wrote earlier??? your not worth my time explaining myself over but i will say that #29 is Clark Corbett, a senior of Benilde, former hopkins Bantam A team member, and yes, he is a highschooler thats been on the roster the entire year. all of the overage players were defensemen, just b/c ep was schooled doesn't mean u need to start throwing things out like this saying that all the players and parents knew about this situation throughout the year b/c you are wrong for saying so.

i think that everyone on teh team had to have known about these kids especially if they were in the program last year, i know where every kid on my team goes to school, this is just way too hard to believe

Hopkins,

Sorry that you beat the B team. I don't coach that team so...

I know your ticked off about losing your entire season, but look at what we as outsiders are seeing. A team that used graduated players, is now denying that they knew...That is a joke. You know who you go to school with, and who graduated and who is still at you school.

Again i am sorry that you lost your season.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... EP coach you cant exactly know i mean a kid could go to a private school or claim to go there and be out of high school and the kids and parents dont know i think the coachs are who you need to point the fingers at because they knew about it and if #29 isnt overage then Hopkins would have one hell of a team and if you ask me any varsity program would be happy to have him on there squad benidle is stupid
