Wood vs. Composite sticks
I have been coaching for quite a few years and have watched the transition from wood-aluminum-carbon fiber-composite, etc. Also, I have watched stcik prices go from $9.95-$189.95. Here is the kicker, the $189 stick lasts no longer than the wood. Please someone tell me if they are really worth it. I have some kids on my team going back to wood.

Re: Wood vs. Composite sticks
Make certain your defensemen go back to wood escpecially if you are Junior Level and College level. The damn compost stick does not hold up very well on the blueline as evidenced all over the professional ranks. The budget for these sticks is insane as well. Good luck coach!

Wood
Wood is the best way to go great for sniping and has you will have a harder shot. Also great for stickhandling, i dont know why they even invented the composites.(to make money i suppose but i dont know why they are so popular)

Simply another piece of equipment that has been over-engineered and contributes to kids and parents dropping out because the game is getting too expensive (or they think it is).
You can fix the composite sticks for a fraction of the cost of a new one (typically $25-30). Go to srshockey.com to find a location. They come out like new, retain the flex and only add an ounce to the stick. This repair system is being used by pro and college teams.

Composite/Wood
I also have used both, and my coaches say wood all the way but i tried one of those synergy's and i was surprised to see how much of a difference there really was. But when your using wood you get a lot better feel for the puck plus if you break it its not like breaking 150$
