How Much?

Post by gamewatcher »

Just curious what other associations charge to register for hockey?
At Eastview they want: $165.00 registration, $55. clinic, $65. tryout, $50. volunteer fee, and $120. (mandatory) jersey fee, for a grand total of $455.00 for each kid. This doesn't include the $165.00 they'll want from each kid in Dec. for their pizza fundraiser. Seems like a big chunk of money to register and get through tryouts.

You have it pretty good actually, in 2005 Rochester charged:
$575 for Squirts
$610 for PeeWee
$750 for Bantam A
$625 for Bantam B
$500 for Bantam C

Plus an additional "team fee" that is anywhere from $200 on up per kid.

Cost is tough to compare. Part of what you need to know is how much "Ice" you are paying for as part of registration. I know some associations look cheaper, then you find out that the team fund is 500-1000, to pay for additional ice.

At EV you are looking at about 1G for hockey when you include ice payments.

1G

I think you mean 1K not 1G. Still $1000 is fairly reasonable for a whole season. I did a small sampling a year ago and found $1200 to be an average including tournament costs.

In previous years at EV we've always ended up paying between $800. and $1000. for ice, tournaments and team expenses on top of the $455. registration fees and $165.00 fundraiser fee. Team expenses could be slightly cheaper this year because teams won't be forced to attend and pay for Total Hockey this year. Still, $1400.-1600. seems like a lot of money for any youth sport especially when you have more than one kid playing hockey. Makes me wish the kids would have taken up basketball instead.
