The combined Lakeville North/South JV is truly legit - my daughters have played on this team the last 2 years. Most of the team is from the North side, which has higher numbers.

I talked with LV S coach last night at our scrimmage and it is indeed. But... I wonder when this changed (as far as the approach being acceptible by MSHSL standards) and I'm actually a little upset that this has not been openly communicated as a viable option by those in charge.

Hockey's New Setup (thanks to MaxSports!)

Post by hshockeyfan91 »

ok, this is early, but if you go out to MaxSports girls hockey and click on "pregame" next to any game, you'll find out about several things that have changed in HS hockey this year:
  • * Hockey now has two halves, followed by up to 4 OT periods.
    * We now have shootouts
    * We track corners - shots out of the corners??
    * We track offsides
    * Penalties have been replaced by fouls
Hopefully this is just all early season setup stuff and the folks who run MaxSports realize that hockey and soccer rules are not the same. Could be a long season otherwise!

I just emailed them about all of this earlier this AM. Great minds think alike!

I said that shots by a player and +/- would be more useful than corners or takeouts.

I also mentioned that we have 3 periods not two halves.

Forgot to mention the fouls part. Will do that terminology wise.
