Greenway

Post by greenway1969 »

After falling to the lowest point in Greenway hockey history, things will get a little better this year. Greenway' underclassmen have some talent and more importantly are good kids and good athletes. Greenway's coaches will help get the most out of these kids. Look for Greenway to win a game or two that they aren't supposed to, but they still are a year or two away from competing.

Greenway people, keep Greenway kids in your system. You have a great hockey tradition and a beautiful part of the world to live in.

Solution: buy Trebil, coach of Holy Angels a Greenway area lake home and give him the Greenway high school coaching job. The locals will stay and talent will come from all over the state to play for that guy. Kids from Duluth and Grand Rapids may turn into Trebil Lemmings and go to the "new" promised land.

Greenway will definetly improve this year. The players have grown individually and as a team. The major thing lacking last year seemed to be a team chemistry, the absence of which led to a dissapointing season of course, but after a soild greenway football season (which many of the hockey players participate in) this group finally seems to be a team. This team will suprise a lot people this year.

I don't believe Greenway will be a real contender this season, but I do agree that they could surprise. Look for them to win 7-12 games...and possibly agaisnt some quality opponents.

Boblee, you know how I feel about greenway boys hockey. They might as well pack there stuff and go to hibbing. They don't stand a chance anymore. And im sure they would rather wear blue then be seen in orange.

What kind of future does Greenway hockey have with no Bantam Team and low numbers in the program? Sound like it will be short lived. I hear that only the mite program has good numbers.

It is true that numbers are low in the greenway hockey program, as well as all the greenway athletics, but good numbers don't necessarily translate to success. Good numbers will provide depth in an organization and that's what the raiders lacked the previous season. But of course, numbers will also decide the fate of a team and things don't look to well at the moment. I believe that the future of greenway hockey will be determined by the level of success or failure over the next few seasons, especially this one. So even though good numbers might not produce success, success will produce good numbers. Everyone wants jump on the bandwagon if you're winning.

But anyways, Greenway has a scrimmage or two today. We’ll see what happens.

Greenway played three games. They beat Eveleth twice and lost to Bemidji once. The new goalie did well. His name is Underwood. Their first game is on friday at Mpls West.

Greenway's first game

Post by frosty walrus »

Greenway has won the first game of their season. They beat Minneapolis West by a score of 6 to 3. Jeff Johnson had 2 goals while Dan Foster, Joe Westlake, Al Guyer, and Seth Lithcke each had one.

Greenway will play Hastings next.

We(hastings) did beat Greenway 4-0 today but they have improved greatly from last year especially in goaltending. Their goalie kept them in it the whole game. They went from 16-2 to 4-0. Great improvement even though we had a much stronger team last year. Either way nice job and good luck the rest of the season.

Greenway Hockey

Post by greenway1969 »

Greenway won't be at the short end of running time very often this year. By tournament time they should be a real threat to upset one of the big threee (Hibbing, Hermantown, Virginia). The program is in deep trouble with no bantam team. The survival of the school itself is a major topic of conversation back home. The previous school board and superintendent really screwed up. Greenway lost over 50 students to open enrollment to Grand Rapids. I don't know how many they lost to Nashwauk-Keewatin. The people are really upset with what happened the last two years.
