I'd endorse a move sending Perkins or Baker to Colorado for Jennings.

Garza or Bonser are untouchable in a Jennings deal.

Canadian Thanksgiving was the second Monday in Oct. The Holidays have been rolling in Rupert's Land for a month already.

Enjoyed one at Winnipeg Stadium for a Bombers game a while back.

The NHL tripleheader is also a great tradition.

Every sign points to Morneau finishing 2nd behind Jeter, but receiving more 1st place votes than Jeter.

Being as though the Twins have not been in a hurry to exercise their option on Rondell White, it leads me to believe they are exploring other options.

Piazza was in the mix last year, now that he is available again, does he become a solution for the DH equation this time around?

Fabulous poem Shanty, a true masterpiece.

And a great picture Neutron, it cracked me up. I respect Jeter as a player, but to me he has always represented Yankee arrogance, he just has that swagger and I love seeing him get knocked down a peg.

I'd like to get Jennings, true his good stats were put up in a weaker hitting league with no DH but Coors has eaten up a lot of pitchers so anyone who can pitch well there has talent. It doesn't make sense though to trade even up for Garza or Bonser, the Twins don't gain much (a little more experience) and lose a lot of potential plus they don't increase the depth of the rotation. It would have to be 2 or 3 pitchers, guys like Perkins and/or Baker plus a lower level prospect, so the Rockies get numbers and the Twins get a good no.2 or 3 starter to shore up the rotation.

I like Piazza, he can hit. He's also righthanded so Gardy could put him in between Mauer and Morneau in the lineup. Another side benefit is that they'd have a 3rd catcher on the bench which would give Gardenhire some flexibility using Morneau and Redmond. I would only put Piazza behind the plate in rare cases but it is an option. And they could still pick up Alou to spot DH and play left field, though I'm not sure about his defense.

Piazza could play the role that LeCroy clogged up for what seemed like a decade. The only difference being, Piazza would be a sizeable upgrade.

I don't know if MSP has enough or the right kind of nightlife to keep Alou interested for a full season

The only night life that Alou has is peeing on his hands to heal callouses, I am sure he can manage to do that here. There was a good article on ESPN.com about 13 free agents and which ones to go after and which to avoid, Alou was in the latter, stating that he is not exactly a phyiscal specimen who could be prone to breakdown at such an old age.

I agree Breeze that Alou is old, but he put up really good numbers last year. He'd probably be better as a DH which would leave us with a conundrum in left field again.

BTW, I heard on the radio this morning that rumor has it Jeter and Morneau tied for the MVP voting. Maybe that's the way it should be, Jeter had the intangibles but Morneau the numbers.

Jeter don't need no stinking numbers. He's a Yankee. Thats how he gets the AL Gold Glove at shortstop when he tied for fifth in fielding pct.

All the Alou talk has been rendered moot as he has signed with the Mets.

I wouldn't mind a co-MVP, as long as Morneau gets recognition. If Jeter wasn't a Yankee, he wouldn't even be in the Top 15. His Gold Glove was a joke.

Oh... all you Yankee haters. If he was on Boston, you wouldn't be hearing anything like this.

My prediction:
Morneau
Jeter
Mauer

I agree ER. The Yankee haters remind me of the private school phobics on the other board.

But Jeter doesnt deserve the MVP.

But there really isnt a clear cut candidate. Big Pappy and Dye didnt make the playoffs and Morneaus numbers while impressive are not over whelming like the NL winner. This works in Jeters favor.

We will see in a couple minutes

ESPN MVP Ballot
a. Jeter
b. Morneau
c. Ortiz
d. Mauer
e. Santana

TR must have gotten an 'atta boy' from old Carl for this one. TR let Ortiz walk, but maybe that was Carl's call.

I don't hate the Yankees persay, I have no problems with any of their players. I just hate what they represent. A tyrannical organization with unlimited resources that can prey on the small-market teams by plucking their newly developed away from them with the flick of a pen. Add to that the fact that the media obsesses over them and is so biased towards them, and the Red Sox for that matter, and the familiarity with them breeds comtempt.

A paradigm shift has occured. Small market playing Canadian wins prize.

Great, one year is lost because he gets hit in the head with a ball, now he gets hit in the head with an award.

Nevermind my pessimism. It's a great achievement.
