Section 3AA/Schwan's Cup
Can any section even compare to 3AA?
Hill-Murray
Centinnial
Roseville
Stillwater
White Bear Lake
Irondale
Mounds View
North Saint Paul
This seems to be the deepest conference every year. With the fact that only one team from 3AA going to the State Tourny, will the competition be better at the Schwan's Cup than the State Tourny?
It seems to me that the Schwan's Cup will host more top 15 teams and higher ranked teams then the State Tourny will. Does anyone else see a problem with this?

Roseville
Holy Angels
White Bear Lake
Moorhead
Bloomington Jefferson

7aa
Section 7AA is better than 3AA this year. Anyone that pays attention should know that.

My biggest point/complaint is at state we will be watching Rochester Somethin play in a game as well as possible Blaine or Osseo.
Whereas at the Schwan's Cup every team is a competitor worthy of being at State, with the exception of maybe Centinnial(which is rare for them).
Section 3AA could possibly be looking at leaving 3 worthy teams at home come time for the big dance.

Cloquet, Duluth East, Grand Rapids, Brainerd, Elk River, Forest Lake
H-M is tough, but no better than East, or Cloquetwisconsinprephockey wrote:7AA is a good conference, but why do you think they are better?
I just don't know if Elk River, Grand Rapids, and Brainerd will be consistent enough to give them the depth that Section 3AA has.
Centennial got absolutely demolished 8-3 by Roseville.
Roseville is tops in this section, and again, not better than East or Cloquet
Stillwater I wouldn't call consistent at all.
WBL is 1-5.
Irondale, MV, NSP...are you serious? the number 6 seed in section 7 will be better than any of these three...Granted the 7,8 seeds may be a bit tougher in 3AA.

3AA is not as strong as it has been in recent years. They were easily the toughest section with Hill-Murray, White Bear Lake, Centennial, Roseville, and even Stillwater. This year's teams do not seem to measure up to past year performances. Section 6AA seems to be the one with the most depth, although no one team will be ranked in the top five. Section 7AA is close behind.

I have to agree with you, I would probably put East, and Cloquet against anybody in 3AA. (East better rep them good at the Schwans Cup) however I would put WBL against anyone after East and Cloquet. They have had a ridiculously brutal schedule (Fargo South, Moorhead, Hill-Murray, Cloquet, & East) The way I look at it the sections shake down like this...boblee wrote:H-M is tough, but no better than East, or Cloquet

East or Cloquet topping the section(#1 spot pending on Thursdays game)
I think its too hard to tell who would win out of a match-up of Roseville vs. East or Cloquet I guess the section argument is just too close to call until we learn more at the Schwans Cup
Roseville_________vs______East or Cloquet
Hill-Murray_______vs______Cloquet or East (advantage cloquet or east)
White Bear Lake___vs_____Grand Rapids (advantage WBL)

Edina will will certainly help there cause with their big win over Cretin. However Eagen and Tonka seem to be the front runners in this section right now. Who cant be put up against Hill-Murray or Roseville.Lowerchesterdchs wrote:You have to consider Tonka, Benilde, Edina, Jefferson and Chaska as a pretty good section.
However with Benilde, Eden Prairie, and Edina you could argue they have the depth.
I know I havent put Jefferson up there but I personally have no faith in them. They have yet to be tested and come out with a win(losing to Eagen and Chaska)
Bottom Line for 6AA to make the argument they need at least one front runner to prove to be amongst the elite in the State. Once that happens they have the depth to make the statement. Edina, in my mind, is the only one from that section to make a statement yet, and if they back it up against Rapids next week, we can consider 6AA
I give the advantage to 7AA just for the fact that it has two front runners (East and Cloquet) that can match up to pretty much any team in the state. Wisconsinprephockey pointed this out in his matchups when saying that they both were better than every team in the section and even with roseville. 7AA also includes depth in unbeaten Brainerd, Grand Rapids (whos only loss is to Cloquet), Elk River and Forest Lake.

Quotes byte sometimes. Roseville beats Centennial at Centennial 8-3 and Centennial beats East. Guess this argument is going down the drain. We also get to see East vs. Hill, so we'll know who is better there. The wild card here is how good is Cloquet this year? One of my favorite teams to cheer for (ever since Corey Millen)...
