Referees This Year...
So is it just me or is the refereeing this year totally destroying the game. Theyre calling the most rediculous stuff lately and making hockey almost a non contact sport. I think its totally slowing down the game and taking points away from a lot of teams.

standard of play
Its all part of the new standard of play being enforced by USA Hockey. I would suggest watching the video on usahockey.com about it. I have seen some refs enforce the rules strictly and others be more lenient.

JGA HACKS?
thats rediculous you must obviously not be playin junior gold... and if you do youre either a B player or U 16. cuz at the A level theres a grip of great hockey players that arent hacks at all. you probably just dont know that from the level you play...BigPoppaPun wrote:it's because all junior gold players are hacks

agreed, high school is more -grab -hack hockey than junior gold.WBLJGADYNASTY18 wrote:thats rediculous you must obviously not be playin junior gold... and if you do youre either a B player or U 16. cuz at the A level theres a grip of great hockey players that arent hacks at all. you probably just dont know that from the level you play...BigPoppaPun wrote:it's because all junior gold players are hacks

the refs in the tonka tourny sucked. they made PLEASE BAN ME calls for every team we played. wayzata would get a penalty that was bad then theyd just call aanother bad penalty on the other team to make up for it it seems... its went from a league with big hits and fast pace to now you can barely touch people... anyone know how that kid from tonka is? it seems like he hurt his leg bad...

yea the refs are complete idiots this year, last night, on 3 occassions one of our players was standing in front of our net trying to break out and a player would run into him and fall over and our player would get an interference. but i do think that player will get more accustomed to what the refs are calling and games will go more smoothly but untill then it sucks having a penalty called every 3 or 4 minutes.
i dont think its the new rules. if u watch the video it seems like everything is reasonable. i think the problem is that the refs dont know what they r doing. they need 2 be trained more or somthing. they r just calling everything so they can fill up the score sheets with penalties so it looks like they r playing by the new standard.
from what I have seen over the past couple seasons is the refs
that actually have fun and want to be there do a much better job
of keeping control of the games. they joke with us and don't take
a little wining personal. usually you can tell how the game will go
before it even starts by the attitude of the refs.
JRG has come along way in becoming a great league; to take it even
further there should be some house cleaning with refs that can't
handle this age group.
we need to get rid of the refs that come to games with attitudes about
JRG. they are possably the biggest problem with the league.
here is a test: watch the refs before the game starts, see if they talk
with the coaches or keep there distance.
see how they respond to coaches asking questions.
look to see if they even crack a smile.
look at the outcome of the game; comparing the above.

I could not agree more, well said!
I feel some refs also have it in for certain programs more than others. I sense some of them have old grudges they are still holding on to from there playing days!
But as a first year Head Coach, I feel the game is called well. The players need to understand what, and what not they can get away with during a game.
