I agree. I would love to see Coach Pat Rendle use that line in the show more often. Mini Marina (Haley) can really play hockey and Molly I and Markie Degrio can really skate.

boblee i don't think it's fair to call haley guyer a "mini marina" they play different styles of hockey and are seperate entities. just because they are sisters doesn't mean they shouldn't be given seperate acknowledgement.

I think that the score on tuesday will be 3-1 lightning. erickson gets two and horgan picks up the third. hammon will come up big against hibbing and make 27 saves for the W

Slicker wrote:OK hockeyon, or should I say clueless, the box scores say that the 1st line including silver bays captains were on the ice for the third period in GRG's Jv game against Silverbay and factored in on three goals. If you are not knowledgable on hockey facts, do not respond to a legitimate hockey forum! Also, they needed to play because Silver bay only has 9 players on their JV team so each one of their varsity lines must play one period each night! Or they must play really shorthanded! You should switch to the high school basketball forum!
If there first line was on the ice it may have been one or two of them not the whole line. Yes they do need to use a few varsity girls thats what happens in small towns. Thats what keeps girls hockey going. For your information the first line line-up changes per game. A girl may be on the 1st line one game and on the third the next. Maybe the court is the place for you since you get so worked up.

I'd like to apologize to Emily Erickson if I said anything offensive to her. I may have gone a bit too far there.

such a savy hockey guy. :?:
You know Media. I know you. And I know you have a hockey eye. But where is it here? Emily may have all the offensive tools, but the girl doesn't play defensive hockey in the least. I talked to a BSU scout and they were more interested in Horgen and Arola who are "complete hockey players."

boblee,

Isn't that coach Rendle's job to take raw talent like Emily and turn her into a "complete" D-1 player? Obviously, he hasn't done his job. Can he do it with Arola or Horgen?

He has done it with Arola and Horgen, cuz they have the heart to do it. And obviously someone sees the game thing I do. The only Lightning representative for all state is Horgen.

Boblee are you implying #10 doesn't have heart?

From the games I witnessed, Emily is usually working hard and smart.
If you are on a fault finding mission, you can find them in any player, even Gretzsky. So you might not even listen to reason...but here it is anyway!

As far as a 2-way player, she is great at keeping the puck in on the scoring end, and taking away from the opposition mid-ice with prevent D.

If her role on the team was to spend most of her time playing around her own goalie, I'm pretty sure she could excel in that as well. But I'm assuming that she is directed otherwise, so you see her up around the blue line more when the puck is in their own end.

I can't imagine any player in any sport seeing as much playing time as she does, if they aren't listening to their coaches.

In short, you are a tool.

If you read what I write, or know me, you will know that you are jumping out of your pants on this one. Emily is a GREAT offensive player, but does need to fine tune the defense. Thanks for the tool comment. You can use tools to fix things, I feel honored.

boblee,
Over the last couple of years I have enjoyed your commentary on the hockey world. At times you have been very in-sightful. But as of late, you have become very mean and disprectful to Emily. You keep talking about playing with heart. What the heck does that mean? Every good/great athlete plays to win and tries to give their best performance. I think emily did a good job this past weekend with the decision the coaching staff threw at their team on Saturday. (Goal tending) The weight of the team was on her shoulders and she worked hard. Does she need to work on her def? Yes, I agree with you. (Name me a player that doesn't) Have you given any thought that the coaching staff directed her to play at the blueline? If not, they had 3 months to change her habits. If you want to discuss GRG hockey, why don't we start at the top.

I don't know how many times I have to say it. I think Emily is an outstanding player. She WILL play division one hockey. BTW, I think the coaching staff made the right decision to play the senior. It did not have a dramatic affect on the out come. Back to Emily. I know her personally and she is a great girl. I am not questioning her heart. Just sometimes I wonder why she refuses to play defense. And it isn't all the time. For example, last night in the all star game she did some work in the D end and made one very nice play on the back check. What I have been getting after, and I bet any money coach Rendle has talked to her about the same things, if she wants to be THE BEST, she needs to play two ways. She has good two way players around her and I am willing to bet next year we will begin to see a complete hockey player. I am a little confused as to why people think I'm being mean to her. I have done nothing but praise her offensive talent, and I have just suggested time and time again she works on her defensive play. 90% of offense starts in the defensive end or the neutral ice. Another thing, I am willing to bet Emily doesn't waster her time reading this "bored" so I don't think this in any way affects her. Also, if a scout is taking any word on this "bored" to heart, they are not a good scout. They go out there and watch her enough. And last night Emily played great two way hockey and I am sure all the scouts there were jumping all over her afterwards.
