EP and Edina always have a good battle no matter what the age group or level. Attended the game to see just that, a good hockey game between two neighboring, highly competitive communities.

Final Score: EP over Edina 4 -2 with Empty Net

Observations:
Eden Prairie played well against an Edina team that showed up to play. EP deserves to be ranked high.

EP Goalie (Meyer?) was very strong between the pipes
EP can skate and has some talented players
EP has solid defense anchored by #15 (Thompson?)

Edina played hard and, from my seat, tied the score at 3-3 but ref was way out of position and waived off tying goal. Edina has a few talented players but nothing compared to last years Bantam team. When Edina shows up they can compete against the best and probably should be ranked in the top 10.

Negative Observations
Behind the play an EP player broke the wrist of an Edina kid with a slash. With 3 refs on the ice no one saw the play but the kid left the ice with his wrist hanging liomp from his arm. This was totally uncalled for and the EP Coach should hold the kid accountable.

On the empty net goal and Edina player dove at the EP player skating in on the goal. The player swung his stick with an obvious intent to injure but luckily it landed on a padded area. This action was also totally uncalled for and the Edina Coach should hold the player accountable.

I have the same observation as you steady. I did think EP used their size to control more of the game, Edina needs to be more physical. Both teams missed good scoring chances.

To set the record straight, there was no slash from the EP player. What happened was Jarrett, from Edina, jammed his wrist when he collided with the EP kid. This info came from his dad. I agree on the slash by the Edina player at the end of the game, should have been a game misconduct.

These teams will have some great battles over the next couple of months.

In reference to the "assumed slash" on the Edina player my sincere apologies to the EP players and coaches. I did see the players tangled up in the Edina zone but followed the puck as it transitioned toward the EP net. The next thing everyone saw is the Edina kid in pain holding his arm. No one seemed to see what happened and it was wrongly assumed that the EP player retaliated by slashing the opposing player which often occurs in these situations.

No apologies will be forthcoming in reference to the Edina player's slash on the empty net goal at the end of the game. Everyone in the building saw this play and in this case the Edina player did not trip, lose his balance and accidentally hit the EP player.

Again, my apologies to EP.

steady eddy- Nice job on the apology to EP, Way to man up! Not a EP fan but will give them credit because they did outplay Edina and I saw the play. There was no slash, however as you pointed out every one in the building saw the "intent to injure slash" by the Edina player. Actually everyone saw it except the Refs. No penalty was called. Can you believe that?

It was a great game and that one at the end looked like it was in that reff should have been in position, also one Mooney from E.P. gave a kid a pretty good shot from behind.

yah at the end the kid got away with that one but for the other teams that watched the game they wonder why they cant have those kind of refs those were normal refs unlike the crazy D6 refs we usually see

EPs gunna win the whole thing! edina is overrated. i think the only teams that will compete with ep will be andover, centennial, jefferson. edina will play them close i just dont think meyers will give up more than 3 goals a game.

I think your wrong saying Edina is overrated, the more they play better teams the better they get. Plus E.P. is a fantastic team that has 17 great hockey players most of the time.

k edina was terrible in duluth! they lost to some teams that were realy struggling and that are simply not that good. they may have played tartan who is pretty good but i think they lost to blaine and they have been really having a hard time.

every team has a slump. In this case, it was Duluth. They were not playing as a team, and didn't skate very hard. They lost to Blaine @ 7 AM in the losers bracket so im sure that their emotions were not there. From Duluth, to now, I have seen a much improved team. In the beginning of the season they lost to shattuck 8-1 and got completely dominated! A couple of weeks ago they beat them easily 4-1. And now, they came close to beating the #1 team in the state, who has blown by everybody.
