Border Battle - Moorhead at Fargo South

Post by STC18 »

So, this year the border battle between NoDak and Minnesnowta goes across the Red River to the Coliseum in Fargo. Who will prevail? The Spuds or the Bruins? Should be a good game as it was last season when the NoDakers took the victory 5-4 in a shocker. Your thoughts boys?

i'm going with the Spuds in this one. I've seen both teams this year. Moorhead is stronger this year than last and South is a little down from last years team. The only advantage South as is a very good goalie. He could steal one, but I think Moorhead wins by a couple.

ND vs. MN

I'll take Moorhead by 4. I would still pick Moorhead to win if you took all the best HS players in ND and put them on the same team.

South has a good goalie but he has still let in a few this year against weaker competition. He has yet to see players at the caliber that Moorhead has.
So White Bear Lake is way below Moorhead in talent?[/quote]

Ok. I'll take your opinion on that but then why does PS2 have them at #11?

3-5 Bears

Lets see who they lost to:

Hill 2-1
Moorhead 5-2
Cloquet 3-1
Duluth East 5-4
Fargo South 5-1 2-ENG

I think the bears have had one of the tougher roads so far! I really dont care what they are rated, Im not big into that stuff, but I know you cant say they are not a good team! GEESH!

Well, Gatorade, good thing your opinion doesn't matter. They were a good team last year, which is still taken into account. They are 30 on the QRF which is only of this season, but not the best system early in the season.

They have played three teams currently undefeated. And most of their opponents have been top 20 aside from three that they came up with W's against.

It shouldn't matter how good you were last year. Last year is over. The fact is they haven't been able to get it done against any quality teams, and therefore should not be ranked in the top 20. End of story.

Thats like saying they could play Moorhead and Holy Angels all year, and get the crap kicked out of them. Then they could beat Bagley and be ranked 3rd in state. Yeah there losses came against good teams, but they are LOSSES, not wins.

South was a much better team last year and Moorhead can put up big numbers any game. Sean Diechert the South goalie is average at best and the only reason they won last year is because his helmet fell off three times with the puck laying in the crease. Moorhead running away.

Spuds- 6
other team- 2

No they wouldn't, 50-75% of the team would be from fargo south, throw a couple in from GFRR and GFC and that's their team. I look for Moorhead to dominate south. You add a few "good" (for ND) players to south and they still lose.

South is a good team regardless of their origin. Spuds are a better team because they are and not because they're on the East Bank.

Spuds by a goal and half per period.

Moorhead plays Fargo South both teams undefeated and #1 in respected State Rankings at 7pm in Fargo, ND Coliseum. Im guessing this game will be on radio. The game should be a sellout. I will, if nobody else is already posting the scores on minnhock.
Gunslinger is right, I would rather play WBL than play teams like Buffalo, Bemidji, ect. The whole thing is competition.....WBL will get better by the end of the year. Nobody in section 3AA will take them lightly, if they do they will lose! A win doesnt always tell how the game went, score, shots, penalties and such tell much more. In the WBL game against South there were some 30 penalties called, fairly equal for both teams. The score was 5-1 with 2 empty net goals. I watched WBL play Hill and didnt think either team played well, but I didnt think there was much of a difference between them either. If WBL can learn to stay out the penalty box I think they can win. I look at WBL record and think whoa this team just needs a little push and they will be looked at differently. Think about this put them in Section 1AA and see where they would be at the end of the year?
Almost forgot this is a Moorhead Vs. South thread!
Moorhead 6
South 2
Spuds give up shorthanded goal and 1st goal of game. Needless to say this will be a learning experience for South.
Thats Mr. Potatohead to you!

Potatohead...you are pretty arrogant penciling teams like Buffalo out of the race...how quickly you forget the 2-1 nail biter last season...let's remember how young Buffalo was coming to play you this season and that the potato's scored 6 pp goals in a 8-1 win...shots were 40 26 and Spuds were on the ppt all night...I am certainly not saying the Bison stand a chance if they meet again but i think for you to dis a team you barely slid past last season is more than a little arrogant...

You say Moorhead barely slid by Buffalo last year, yeah the score was 2-1 but the score doesn't resemble how the game went. Buffalo got a soft goal and besides that, Buffalo basically had no scoring opportunities. In the game Moorhead had many, many scoring opps but just weren't capitalizing.
