Minnesota vs. North Dakota

Post by Connor Banks »

Now that #1 Moorhead has beat #1 Fargo South and South stuck right with them I think a question and disucssion needs to be posed. Could Fargo South maintain a spot on Minnesota's top 10 if they were in Minnesota and who are they better than? Personally I think if they played a schedule like Moorhead or White Bear Lake I think they would do quite well. Probably finish with 4-6 losses and possibly make a bid at a state tournament birth. What are your thoughts?

They may be close, but in my opinion from what I've heard, they could play the top 7 AA schools, St Thomas, Hermantown, and Duluth Marshall and go 0-10. The games may be close, but they won't win. This is Mn hockey we're talking about.

To add to my post, the locked thread just said that the top ranked ND team is 5-3. They are the top ranked team and are 5-3? You don't need to know anything about anything to know that if a state's top ranked team 8 games into the season has 3 losses that is no good. MN is definitely better. We have a multitude of undefeated teams.

Hshockeywatcher,

The 5-3 you saw was the score of the Spuds vs. South game not the record.

People that say they would not be a top ten team in MN have obviously not seen them play. :^o They are very good. Not quite as good as last year but they are a very good team and would be a top 5 AA team in MN. Look at the score of the game against Moorhead (probably the best team in MN) it was alot closer than most games the Spuds have played this year.

And BIAFP to say they would not be a top 10 A team is the craziest thing I have heard. ](*,)

Fargo/Moorhead has an enviable hockey environment. They have a committed hockey community with many indoor and outdoor facilities. Fargo, from what I have seen produces some very good players. I don't know if they if they would be a top ten team. But, certainly a top 20 team if you brough the team over.

They would be a top ten team in Minnesota AA and a favorite to win state in A.

If they are so good, and MN hockey is superior to ND hockey, why don't they play more teams here? Get a little state rivalry going. That would be cool.

They have started to play a couple more the last couple of years. They play in the Rochester Christmas tournament. They won that last year and probably will again this year.

That's good. They probably will, what kind of competition will they be getting there?

Mayo, JM, Century, Stillwater, Hastings, New Richmond WI, and I can't think of the last team.

Their schedule ony allows for 5-6 games outside of their regular season conference games. Thats ND state rules limiting the total number of games a team can play in one year. I think they would like to play more MN teams but can't. They play WBL, Moorhead, Crookston and the Rochester Tournament which accounts for 6 games. I believe the teams at Rochester are Buffalo, Hastings, Stillwater, South, New Richmond WI, and the 3 Rochester teams. I would think they would be favored after winning it last year. We'll see.

They'd be top 20 for sure. I don't know about top 10 however.

Isn't their a Superior team that plays in Minnesota? Could South make a bid to play in Minnesota? That would definately strengthen 8AA

FS top 5

Fargo South, no doubt, would be in the top 5 in MN. They would probably be 4th or 5th, no lower. I would be curious to see how page stat would rank them...

You can't be in the top 5 in Minnesota when you are in North Dakota. [-X

If Vegas were to create lines and take wagers on HS hockey, I know a lot of uninformed Minnesotans would take a bath at the window in games involving certain ND Teams versus MN schools. Not me, when it comes to a wager, it's not about loyalty, it's about winning. ND or not, like it or not, accept it or not, the Bruins can play and they can play well.
