Ugh. This thread could get contentious.boblee wrote:What are your thoughts about this?
Keeping in mind the rules Mitch has posted, I have a weird feeling. On the one hand, this was a man who was as eligible for being executed as anybody currently alive. Well, other than Kim from North Korea, I suppose. On the other hand, I have serious reservations on what good, if any, killing him does. There exists the risk of him becoming a martyr to his supporters; what will be the result of this in terms of escalation of violence in that nation?
But this only applies if you support the death penalty, which I'm not entirely sure I do.
As I said, the potential for this to worsen an already very bad situation in Iraq is very high. We'll see how it plays out in the coming weeks and months.
I won't touch the Bush issue for the reason I already mentioned.

The lefty liberal press decided that we should only see the noose going around his neck.
This thing is the personification of evil. He has tortured and murdered tens of thousands so he could remain in power. But lets not show him when the bottom drops. Its too graphic.
I wonder if these my mush brained liberal morons in the commie press had spouses or family members tortured or killed by this animal that they would be so protective of us.
See Lee, this thread wont get contentious at all.

Well, maybe if they ever revive the Faces Of Death video series, they can include this. You know, so those wanting to feel justice can feel satisfied. For the low price of $19.99.Blue Breeze wrote:With some of the things on TV today, the Saddam execution could have gotten a TV PG rating. I am sure some of those immediately effected by his actions would at least feel a little bit of justice if they were able to experience it with their own eyes.

This is a man that definately got what he deserved. Loved how they dropped the charges for the other 100,000 deaths after he was hung. People like this are exactly the reason we should have the death penalty. They have no morals or sense of remorse for their actions, they will think they are right until the noose is too tight.
