The Vikes will play at the gophs new stadium while the second level of the dome is torn down, the concourses are redone and a sweet new roof is put on top of a new upper level. At least me thinks that should be done.

Use it for something instead of wasting my tax dollars on a new one.

The building of the Dome in 1982 was a joke. The threat of teams moving precipitated this band-aid approach. I preferred the Bloomington site but Mpls. politics won out. I believe building 3 separate stadiums is a mistake. I think the Twins should have their own stadium but the Vikes and Gophers should be shared. How many home games do the Gophers play per year about 6? Thats a lot of dough for a new stadium that may be obsolete in 30 yrs. Minnesota should do it right and build a quality stadium with a retractable roof with a minimum life span of 50 yrs. The new stadium should be built where the Metrodome now sits. Where these 2 teams would play while a new stadium is built I will leave to the experts out there along with other details. But definitely the Dome must go, with no funeral.

The vikings don't even deserve to play on the Gophers' field. Maybe a high school stadium would be better--now that would be a spectacle in December. (Especially if its one that shares the field goal posts with soccer nets). I can see it now... Snow piled up in corners, Cheerleaders freezing in the cold, and Ragnar on a Modified V-Twin Powered Snowmobile. That's a sporting event.

"Golden" Gophers

Post by VandalLawhockey »

The Vikings don't deserve to share a field with the "Golden" Gophers football team? You mean the "Golden" Gophers football team that considers going .500 in the Big 10 a good season? You mean the "Golden" Gophers football team that beat a D-1AA team because of a missed field goal? You mean the same "Golden" Gophers football team that hasn't been in a New Years day game since Jan. 1st 1962? You mean the same "Golden" Gophers football team that broke into the record books this year by blowing a 31 point lead to a team that my alma mater could've beat (GO IDAHO!!!)?
I think the Vikings are horrible both on, and w/o doubt, off the field but honestly playing on the same field as the "Golden" Gophers is enough of an insult.
