concerned dad the reason that edina is 1-1 with ep red is because the time that they lost to them they had 10 players. 2 lines the entire game and they were missing some of their best players

Yea, that might explain why the last time Ep Red And Edina WHITE met up, Ep Red took Edina to overtime and had numerouse chances, not to mention they outshot Edina, and had the better of the scoring chances. We will see tomorrow who wins the game.

Last game EP RED 2 EDINA WHITE 3 OT...game could have gone either way

I am new to this forum, and this is great there is so much interest. Why isn't Rochester Red getting any love on here or in the state rankings?

Rochester Red is the probably the best B1 in Rochester but they can't win or keep it close against the top 10 teams. The other factor is they are a D8 team.

What is vastly superior (though imperfect like all poll calculations, and pioneer seems like he would be the first to tell you that) about Pioneer's rankings is the it seems that teams actually seem to earn their place in his rankings, unlike the LPH which is dependent on a lot more subjective weights and measures.

If LPH really were on top of their game they would be in contact with pioneer and negotiating a deal for his ranking system to be the new LPH

rayfinkle- good to see your team is having a good season, I was wondering what happened to Duluth East when Chaska beat you 3-0. We must have been having one of our good days and East must have been having one of their off days to keep up with the consistently inconsistent trend in B1 hockey (Rochester Red too?)

This year the B1 level is reinforcing the old adage of, "on any given day ............."

So HockeyRocks, are you saying D8 isn't good hockey? I have seen some decent hockey in D8. Maybe they can't beat the top five or ten teams, but like the last post said, on any given day.....Other than Rochester Red, Hastings has played well lately as well. Lost one goal games to Eagan and Woodbury but it was very early in the season

D8 has some good hockey but only Woodbury & Eagan and sometimes Rochester have teams that can compete with other districts top teams. D8 has to be one of the weaker D's in the State.

hockeyman in the ep game edina was still a man down and had just went into overtime early in the day. They were exhausted from playing their friends in an intense game. Tonight they will again be a man down and playing with only 5 defense so well se what the outcome is

D10 Update

Post by blueblood »

SPS:

How is the D10 update coming?

Tell us about Princeton, Champlin Park, Centennial Black, Chisago Lakes, and St. Cloud teams.

Most of the reporters on this board know or have seen Elk River, Centennial Red and Blaine.

Champlyn Park has a solid team. They beat ER the first time they played and have only one blemish on their D10 play. Both SC teams are average D10 teams. I haven't seen Chisago Lakes, Princeton, nor Centennial blk play yet. From past years I would guess all three of these teams would be good and could possible give a top D10 team (ER, Blaine, Centennial red, Champlin Park) fits thoughout the course of the season.

ER vs. EP red scrimmage this weekend. We'll find out if ER can play a top 5 team as suggested on this board on more than one occasion and bring home the bacon.

D10

Post by my2cents »

Champlin: Strong team early. I heard their best player got moved up to A's after the season started and it is hurting them a bit. ER is the only top team in D10 that they've played so far in the league and that was very early on. We'll know more after they see Centennial, Chisago and Blaine. Historically, this has been one of the stronger groups in D10.

Princeton: Lost some excellent players to JV after the season started. They still have a couple of "go to guys" on the first line that can score quickly. Not much depth.

Chisago: With no A team, this group has a few excellent players and speed. Very short bench and inconsistent D and goaltending. They tied Cent Red early and haven't played the other top teams yet.

Pine City: No talk on the board about this team, but they are right there with the above mentioned teams. A few skilled and fast players makes them dangerous.

ER, Blaine and Cent Red are the upper crust in D10 and the only teams with good depth.

As of now, I'd rank them 1)ER, 2)Blaine, 3)Cent Red, 4)Chisago, 5)Champlin, 6)Princeton, 7)Pine City, 8)Andover

Still along season to go.

Chisago Lakes looks pretty good. They have 10 f and 4 d. The best 3 forwards could play A anywhere. They skate & pass very well and like most teams with few players they play well together.

Princeton was at Roseville for a tourney and beat up R-ville and then I think lost to Blake for the Champ.

There is nothing we dont already know about D10. Blaine, Elk River and Centennial will be duking it out at the end. The guys I've seen that have some upset promise include:

Princeton-If they ever get on the same page they could be top 20 team
Chisago Lakes-Must not have an A team. Playing tough opponents throughout the season including EP Red in the near future
Champlin Park-I'm pretty luke warm on these guys. It doesnt seem like they have the depth to get it done. Nice first line.
Andover-The game I saw was brutal but with an association that big there has got to be a coaching or chemistry problem.
Centennial Black-Better than last year. I think the Red coach made a couple of mistakes
Pine City-No A team again? Blue collared and gritty could cause problems for a team like Centennial Red that has a bunch of finesse.

How's that BlueBlood? I've been watching from the corner in many a game this year. Mostly D3 (I live in Plymouth) and D6 (easily the best district) Dont ask me to start watching D5 or DTC!

They hit when they had the chance but played very smart hockey in the two games I saw.

Chisago

Post by my2cents »

In Roseville, Chisago lost to Blake by 3 goals in round 1 and took consolation. Princeton got thumped badly by Blake for third. At that time, Chisago had 12 skaters.

Thanks for the insight on D10. D5 and DTC; no need to go there.

I agree with you on Andover. They have size, speed and some decent goaltending, but from the 5 or so games I've seen them play they seem to be missing the "team" concept.

Centennial Black could be a sleeper in D10. Seen them play a couple of games. They stuggled in one and played well in the other. They seem to be holding their own in the D10 standings.

Champlin Park had a rough go in the MWR's. Jury is out on them.

ER has won 4 tournaments. No other BB1 team can put that on their resume this year.

Blaine bounced back with a 3-2 win over Woodbury following the MWR loss

My rankings of D10:

1) ER
2) Blaine
3) Centennial Red
4) Chisago Lakes
5) Centennial Black
6) Princeton
7) Champlin Park

Well against chaska we were dead tired because we just got done playing are best game of the year and taking edina white into 7 minutes of overtime before the won. But chaska is a good team they moved there feet we werent and they beat us.

Rochester red we out played them for pretty much the whole game they got a bounce and they took us into ot before we could win. shots were 24-15 in favor of east. Reds goalie really did a good job.

What 4 tournaments has ER won this year? Who else has been winning the big tournaments? Isn't the Moorhead tourny coming up soon? Who is in that one?
